  • haha i like this :D

  • So cute.

  • love the name of this piece

  • im in corp of drums i watched every beat and it looks impressive !

  • if you think this is fake then your a fucking retard.

  • it just looks like the music doesnt match up with when you hit the drum, so, no offense, but i think the music was dubbed

  • @civilwarfreak1 - Well, you're partially correct. But, did you notice that there are two of me playing? I actually had to record myself playing it first, mix it down, then perform it again while listening (something like that - it's been a while). I probably could do a better job next time, but I did fool a lot of people into thinking it was two people. Good eye, though.

  • sorry dude, but it looks fake

  • @civilwarfreak1 - Well, not quite, but keep thinking about it.

  • liked and faved!!!! =)

  • i cant get it how deos he drums so fast?

  • @Jeesus353 He utilizes the bounce off the drum head to produce several notes per one hand stroke. Look up "double stroke roll" and "buzz roll".

  • Hill Where the Lord Hides

  • Jokes were corny but good job! haha.

  • isnt crazy army made by jay wannamaker??

  • Sweet

  • THAT WAS AWSOME!!!!!

  • there both you. and how can you play both parts

  • By layering it.

  • Bravo! loved it

  • Thanks

  • the drum beat also goes to whoop jamboree

  • Right, it goes to Whup Jamboree, Bummers Reel, and when we're not sure what drumming goes to a certain song at a jam session, we may play it for that too.

  • nice job man!

  • Thanks.

  • Okay that is definetly you playing both parts lol..

Took me a while to pick up on it haha

  • your neighbours are happy! ^^

  • this is fake.....

  • How so?

  • sorry i though it was fake because the vid looks wierd. but nice vid

  • Ah, I see. Actually, I think you are picking up on something. Take a closer look at those "two" guys. Notice anything unusual?

  • whats the chuck mangione song

  • Legend of the One Eyed Sailor

  • isn't it crazy army 2/4

  • No, not really.

  • Lower Woodstock (kid drumming (Goldsprings Parade 2008))

check this out belfast shankill road no surrender

  • That's 50,000 and LU.

  • Ed Lemley was a New York rudimental drummer, as was his son Ken. Kenny moved to Deep River, Connecticut later in life, where he taught many fife and drum corps and individual drummers (myself included). BTW, when he lived in New York, one of his students was jazz great Billy Cobham.

  • knowing electric wheelchair makes this tempo seem painfully slow.

  • I can understand that. It's set at march tempo.

  • excellent stuff!

  • Thanks

  • not really. just alot of attack.

  • go to sleep!! >)

  • i love how this is a rip off from anbother drum fanfare.

  • Ripped off from what? Crazy Army 2/4 was written by Ed Lemley a long time ago.

  • well, it depends what u mean by "a long time ago" as to weather or not it was ripped off.

I could be wrong, but i've heard this in another fanfare also written a long time ago.

  • Crazy Army 2/4 was written in 1934 - is that old enough so that it wasn't ripped off of something else? Ed Lemley was a rudimental snare drummer who in turn taught his son Kenny, who in turn was the guru who taught a good friend of mine, Bobby Graves, who is from Westbrook Connecticut, the heart of Ancient Style rudimental drumming.

  • neat

  • no it's not. check the dates.

  • im in the colonial fifes and drum (look them up) thats techecaly brittish

  • Again, seeing as how Crazy Army 2/4 was written by Ed Lemley, a Connecticut rudimental drummer, technically, it's American, and it's comprised of rudiments that are listed among the 26 standard American rudiments, although I don't doubt that rudiments may have originated in Britain.

  • yeah--nice American sound

  • I love the snare, and that was awesome playing!

  • That bass drum needs to be muffled.

  • soket!!!!!!!!!!

  • hells yeah. Nice job...5 stars

  • awesome ... i felt like a solidar "sir, yes sir" ^^ good job

  • has anybody ever told you that you look like that guy from Harold and Kumar?

  • nope - but maybe Kumar & Kumar would be more accurate.

  • reminds you of electric wheelchair.=]

  • of my god u fuckin idiot. the beginning of electric wheelchair is an exerpt from this

  • why do i have to be a fuckin idiot?

  • why do u gotta post stupid comments?

  • somebody is PMSing...

  • electric wheelchair was inspired by crazy army.

    so yeah.

  • Woo Woo man!

  • Hehe NICE! Is that the same person? haha Cool stuff

  • Yup = Me + Me

  • Awesome! I love that sound! 5/5!

  • EXCELLENT work! Always wanted to join Drum Corps, but never did. Videos like this really show me the error of my ways! 5 stars for ALL of your videos!

  • Thanks a lot! - It seems like you wouldn't have any trouble playing drum corps style. You seem to work hard and have a good attitude.

  • is it me or does it sound like electric wheelchair by SCV

  • NICE!!!

  • Not bad. But not as precise or with the same rudiment placement a I played it with the Golden Knights in the mid 60's. Still enjoyed watching though.

  • Thanks for the positive comment. Do you have and video of your performance? I'd love to see it.

  • awesome. I want the drum.

  • The song is...Legend of the One Eyed Sailor. Joey LaBarbara on drums with Rochester Philharmonic percussion.

  • Great Sound!

  • that was great

  • The drum solo is good, but this video is even better! Funny dude!

  • His 7's are good :)

  • amazing.... awesome 18th century snare drum

  • really awesome.

  • Thank you.

  • Great playing, I love it. I love the sound of older drums. This is great !!!!!! Post more !!

  • Thanks - Maybe I'll try to capture something this weekend at a National Muster I'm going to.

  • Playing this a stand in for a cadence on this year's field show. Works very well with the civil war theme. Thanks to your corps for providing music, it would've taken ages to find this elsewhere.

  • Very glad to hear that, my friend.

  • were's part two ? Cant wait to see it

  • Actually, part two has been out for a while. It's called "Opus X - (Fife & Drum - Part 2)". Wasn't as popular, though.

  • very nice

  • DAMN that snare sounds good

  • Lol I always wondered, did you really take a nap?

  • Hehe, funny.

  • Hey man, great work sounds like authentic military music!!!....very funny, that u play both parts - AWESOME!!!!

    Greets,

    Christian from Germany

  • thanx

  • Nice, I am currently working to get my 7's to sound similar to his.

  • His? (hehe - fooled another one)

  • nice but the beggining is so stupid

  • Yeah, could have been better - a little slow moving.

  • verry funny cool chtidrummer

  • You have the music to this (Snare)?

  • Yeah - check out the link to my drum corps' sheet music page in the description of this video. Scroll down for Crazy Army (the audio clip is Whup Jamboree, but the drumming is Crazy Army).

  • hey, i dont wanna sound rude or anything, but crazy army is a stock beat not a solo, it can be played with any 2/4 or 4/4 fife tune.... and your bass drum needs to be pulled, really really badly, but other than that really nice job, i love crazy army

  • You're right, it's a stock beat. But, you gotta give that bass drummer credit since I'M PLAYING BOTH PARTS.

  • haha! that was awsome! :D nothing beats that sneresound :D

  • Thanks - yeah, I like those drums.

  • does the snaredrum have pig intestines for the snare? :)

  • weeeell, I think it's actually sheep guts, but you may be right.

  • awsome. god old fashion snare drum :D

  • most snares use catgut

  • excellent job!

i noticed "Village Volunteers" on your bass drum, so are you a revolutionary re-enactor?

  • Thanks. I did once, and most of the corps actively participate in rev-war re-enactments. Usually at Fort Ticonderoga or Saratoga. Why, do you?

  • no, im a civil war re-enactor =]

  • the concert is march 26

  • My teacher sed i could do this for the concer, but i need to write bass, and cymbal parts for it............

  • Not that I'm trying to help you cheat, but after your wrote this, I added the bass drum part to our website.

  • aww man i finished a while ago o-well.....

  • Well, good. You can enjoy the sheet music, and I can stop feeling guilty. How'd you do, by the way?

  • wow! i'm an idiot.... i just noticed that the snare player and the bass drum player are the same person (its only you!). Gosh now your comment makes sense.

  • hehe,.....gotchya

I guess my little speech at the beginning of the clip was a good distraction.

  • thank you so much i have been looking for months for sheet music for Crazy Army. you guys did well. i wonder how it sounds on a free floating snare drum.

  • You're welcome - I worked hard on the website. I like the fact that I've fooled so many people into thinking there are two drummers in this video....

IT'S ONLY ME - WAAAA HAA HAA HAA!

Sorry, I couldn't control myself. Not a bad trick, though huh? Only people who know me seem to pick up on it.

  • holy crap it is just you! you should probly stick with snare, i hate bass drum

  • Yeah, that's what I play anyway.

  • i was liek damn all those fuckers look alike

  • I learnt how to play with from your website and now my drummer friends are like "ZOMG U RULE!!1111eoneone".

    Thanks ^_^

  • Hey hey......glad to hear it.

  • Chuck mangione - The Legend Of The One Eyed Sailor is the number called

  • Yes, you got it. But we've already given out our golden ticket. Please stay tuned for the grand prize drawing (hehe).

  • Did SCV take electric wheelchair from this?

  • Not from this video, but from Crazy Army - yes.

  • Murray Gusseck writes, "the familiar sounding bass/snare march part in the beginning was stuck in my head from something I'd heard. [...] I had heard Steve Gadd play something similar on one of the Buddy Rich Memorial Scholarship Videos."

The solo from the version of Electric Wheelchair in "Parking Lot Etudes" is almost exactly like the traditional solo, though SCV plays something slightly different. It's nonetheless interesting how it got there.

  • that's class, well done by both of yee.

  • Thank you, from both of ME.

  • Great job man. Where can I get these tabs??? plzzzzzzzzzzzz hehehehe

  • Thanks. What are tabs?

  • I mean like is there any site where I can read this riff? cause I wanna play it on my drums, I play it similarly because I carefully watched steve gadd and you guys performing it, but it's not the same thing; the hands have many variations, so I would like to read it.

    Thank you.

  • Absolutely, the sheet music is right on our website - see the description of this video. Let me know if you have trouble finding Crazy Army.

  • I just updated our website to make it easier to find sheet music. Check it out, the link is in the description.

  • ciaooo...very very nice!!!

  • where did you get that snare from...i want one of those antique snares....

  • My drum corps gets the drums from Cooperman. Check out their home page: Cooperman[DOT]com

  • yOU ROCK!

  • Thanks

  • How can i get sheet music for this, and the other cadence maurice plays(opus x)

  • idk but i wouldnt mind have a copy of it either. lol

  • Sorry for the delay, my drum corps' website has been down for several weeks and that's where you can find a lot of good sheet music.

Since you can't post links in comments, go to the description of this video for a link to our sheet music page. There you will find Opus X (Flower of the Alps). Crazy Army sheet music is on our Audio/Video page.

  • chicks will dig that!

  • well i enjoyed that but do u think you can get some tunes from the seige at fort stanwix maybe the "easy quickstep" I'm a fort stanwix inturpreteur there and the music is awesome.

  • Hey, I thought I replied to this a while ago - sorry about that. I had to refresh myself as to what Easy Quickstep was, but I thought I replied after I found out. We use it in our drum corps to accompany a piece called Country Dance. In order to play this properly, you need several snare drummers to do the stick clicks with one another.

I'm going to postpone doing a video of this song for now, because we plan to incorporate it into our show this season in a special way.

  • vincents brigade 2nd regiment (civil war). yes roping a drum is a bitch! especially if you have a shallow drum like mine. i recommend a deeper drum being that the ears have more room to slide, making it tighter.

  • this is from the song.. The legend of the one eyed sailor!!

  • yup

  • is the snare a bitch to tune?

  • At first, roping and tuning it is hard work, but later you can just slide the "ears" down before playing, and slide the "ears" up afterwards to relax the heads.

Hmm, I wonder if people would be interested in seeing a demonstration of re-roping and tuning rope tension drums. What do you think?

  • Yes pleeeease! =)

  • yes!

  • Hey there!

I enjoyed that, well done! =)

I was a marching drummer in the Navy a while back... and guess what?... i'm a GIRL!!!

But anyway, gold star for you, i liked it!

    =P

  • Thanks. You were a drummer in the Navy "a while back" and you're only 20? Wow.

  • Nice snare!! Cooperman??

  • Yup.

  • Excellent piece :)

  • Not a bad idea.

  • this guy talk too much

  • Yeah, if I'd only get to the point, and with more energy too. I guess I just need to be resurrected.

  • I see where the vanguard got Electric wheelchair

  • I'll admit, I did laugh a little when if first started, then the bass guy came out of no where. That was unique. Cool to know drums from that era are still alive.

  • Nice snare work -- the seven-stroke rolls are a bitch to pull off on those heads at that tempo. I've used similar drums for an authentic sound on some Sousa pieces.

  • Go home & practice...and,yeah..check your accents..it seems that you missed some...

  • Ok... you post a video and let us hear and see how good you are. I have been playing drums for 60 years and I thought the guy was darn good. I would love to see and hear a performance of Dazzlin Drums.. written by Paul Yoder.

  • Hey 5561drum, where can I get a copy of that piece (Dazzlin Drums)?

  • Hi..Dazzlin Drums was written by Paul Yoder. It is Connecticut Halftime with band accompaniment.

I might be able to send you a copy of the drum part and could possibly locate a complete band music set. But that would take some time and cost.

I tried but am unable to send you an email address. You might try checking with the C L Barnhouse Music Company in Okaloosa Iowa. hmmm accent35 at embarqmail dot com

  • So is the drumming just Connecticut Halftime?

  • Hi... you did not figure out the email address I slipped in. I would like to communicat with you directly.. Ok

the answer to your question is yes and no. There is an introduction to the piece but after that it is mostly Connecticut Halftime with the band coming in and out and the (brain fade) dynamics are very important to the overall effect. I am fortunate to have an old Ludwig record with J Burns Moore performing Connecticutt Halftime.

  • ...Yes I did, I'll send you an email
