The proper name is VOCALOID, Big Al is a voice bank in the VOCALOID2 line. The software is called VOCALOID.

On a semi-unrelated note. I personally find some overseas UTAU producers to be better than these professional companies putting together English VOCALOID banks. I've worked with UTAU voicebanks with higher quality than most English VOCALOID banks.

@kokamop Big Al is a Vocaloid engine version 2. the English Vocaloid version 1's are Lola, Leon and Miriam. Big Al, Sweet Ann, Sonika, Prima and Tonio are English Vocaloid 2. Oliver is English Vocaloid version 3. The first commercial Vocaloid ever was Lola. Lola and i believe Leon predate the arrival of Meiko and Kaito. Then I think Miriam came along. Then Sweet Ann was the first V2 followed By Miku Hatsune.
