BTW Elly I am so proud of you hun for getting out and facing the world head on. Always keep Max close by you hun to keep you safe and secure. He's an amazing dog.
lol Max is like lady would yah just check us out......... do you know how much I weigh here, lol. Wow Max you are truly a blessing to ur owner no doubt. These dogs are certainly angels on earth. Hugs to you both. God Bless
The Gods brought you an angel in Max. Such a beautiful boy and a true gift he has given you in allowing you to resume your life. I to suffer from panic disorder and PTSD, i also have physical disabilites. I had a service dog for my physical disablitiles but he had to be retired due to eye sight issues. as my mental health has declined i have been seriously considering another dog for help in allowing me to get back into life. best wishes to you and Max always.
I personally have very mixed feelings about this whole area of service dogs for invisible disabilities. On the one hand I think the general public should be allowed to take dogs with them into public places - this would increase the necessity for well socialised dogs, decrease nuisance dogs and make life a whole lot easier for everyone... on the other hand until this happens we, as guide dog handlers, have spent many years raising awareness about the function that our dogs play...
im in the process of getting my service dog. im disabled from the waist down.
and did you see that guy stare as he walked by? i was like wth why u staring you HAVE LIKE 10 LOAFS OF BREAD IN YOUR CART! EVERYONE SHOULD STARE AT YOU!
Thanks again for sharing this. I use a pyr for my service dog, but my Newfie George is in training. How brave you and Max are can give others hope. It should not be breed specific which is what I run into. You have a great gift in Max, enjoy him and your life to the fullest:)
I can not say enough wonderful things about these two. This is absolutely inspiring. This literally brought a tear to my eye. I am physically disabled and know the joy, freedom, and independence that service dogs can bring to life. I commend this woman and Max for sharing their beautiful teamwork, journey, and message that there is hope for everyone.
Wow, these are great videos. I am so happy for you that you have been able to find the perfect friend to help you in your days. I hope that someday my little dog will be trained enough to help me as well. She is a Service Dog in Training. She already alerts me to panic attacks, mood changes, major migraine headaches, and major allergic reactions. She is only 5 months old. She is a little Shiba Inu. I thought about a newfie. it is great to see one in action! Thank you!
I loved these videos. One thing I wonder is how do you (Elly) deal with the added attention drawn to you because you have a service dog. Both my sister and boyfriend have thought of and would benefit from having a service dog, but both have decided against it because they felt it would draw to much attention which would make them more anxious.
Wow, Max is just amazing! I found your video while researching therapy/service dogs for psychiatric illness. I have tourette's (waiting on my "official" diagnosis at the moment), OCD, and anxiety problems. My tourette's has progressed to quite a bad state which makes it difficult to do ordinary things, like grocery shopping, going to movies, etc. The only thing that calms me when I'm having a bad day of ticking, is to hug my dog. To just hold him and pet him calms me. Even just having him near.
I had wondered if it is possible to have a service dog with me all of the time. I was thinking of a Newfoundland for a few reasons. First, they are very calm and intuitive dogs. They are also a dream breed of mine since I encountered one when I was around 8 years old. I've never forgotten it. He was beautiful and sweet and just so calm. I don't know if I will be able to be approved to have a therepy dog, but your video has given me hope that it might happen! Thank you!
Max is simply amazing :) An angel. I cried while I watched these videos. How lucky you are to have each other. Now if we could just get Max to come over and give my 1 year old Lab, Maxie, some lessons in good behavior, the world would be a very happy place!
Hi That was Max's first time in the supermarket, naughty but cute sniff, although he's never done it again. Max picked up on Elly getting panic attacks and taking meds to help, then he just started to stare at Elly when he could detect panic coming on. Elly took meds and no panic attack, from there he got a little more forceful - if she doesn't take meds when he knows she needs them he'll bark constantly until she takes them. If the panic is overcoming meds he then leads her away from situation
How much does he weigh?
