I agree all drugs should be legal, but at the same time, I think there's a point where you have to draw the line. Some drugs cause nothing, but pain and misery and addiction. Anyone who's spiritual will tell you that extreme addiction to anything outside yourself is to be avoided. I do agree taking a trip every now and then doesn't really hurt as long as you're responsible and don't become addicted to what you're using. Responsible meaning not driving while using psychedelics and what not...
Yes a lot of truith in what is said, but I believe that about the drugs being banned it is because the hard it does to society is greater than the benefit, yes there are some benefits, but to function in this society needs a certain type of perception, those drugs take you out of this world into a different reality, and also they make you forgetfull not able to preform cognitive tasks. people become addicted and it also effects the mood and changes things

drugs are great for opening the mind, i agree with mcKenna. but there is one problem with them, if you have a tendency towards negative thinking/fear, i often see people like this go downhill and not up (especially with weed)... your mind has to be fairly open to begin with to avoid negative consequences and addiction

And your brain can trick you constantly, it fills in the blind spot of your eyes for example, so it estimates what should be in that spot and fills it, even though that fill isn't anywhere near "reality".

I'm a big fan of mckenna and mushrooms. I could learn a lot about myself and the world! I'm still learning. Ayahuasca is very very good too.. My next new experience will be with Amanita muscaria. I have dryied them and now i'm waiting for the right moment to use them..planet will tell me.. Every person should have almost one mushroom experience. It changes our live deeply.
The reason why Mckenna's words are so real is that people realise he's not another tool that says here's an idea that will enlighten you. He says no to that thinking and that even his words and his experiences aren't worth anything to you and the only thing that will set you free are your experiences, your thoughts, your words, your sex, your love, your ideas, your friends, your art, your trips.
Terence Mckenna was a drug addict who spent the vast majority of his life trying to get high and experimenting with drugs...it ended up costing him his life prematurely. Just another colorful character in the long list of people who's lives were wasted on drugs.

@revolution..all addiction is psychological in nature.The body is incredibly resilient, & starts to heal itself after the last exposure, trying desperately to repair the damage being caused.It's incredible how much abuse the body can take.The effects are definitely physical as well..you are basically over clocking your brain..would you run a car at 8000 rpm for an hour? Even a short burst could case major physical damage. You don't SEE the brain/mind until issues arise but by then, it's to late.

@2Crystalight, I mentioned my objections previously and was pretty much ignored/told I don't have to take the drug if I don't want to. Its pretty obvious after watching his videos that the entire point is that you have to take the drugs to really "get it," whatever "it" is. I can only judge these drugs with my own perception, this guy tells me if I take his mind-altering drugs I will have my perception altered and realize there's nothing wrong with it. Who you gonna trust, me or your own sense?
I could search for a feeling of unification with everything for as long as I live but nothing beats 5g of psilocybin and silence. How I wish I could gain that experience. I want that experience so badly.
I'm also a firm believer that drugs shouldn't be experienced, or experimented with until you reach a certain age, especially psychedelics.

Your reality is nothing but what your brain makes it.
And your brain can trick you constantly, it fills in the blind spot of your eyes for example, so it estimates what should be in that spot and fills it, even though that fill isn't anywhere near "reality".
The drugs just alter the chemicals in your brain, so does sex, eating, or doing some physical excercise.
The places he has been when on drugs, are the reality because it's what the brain projects.

His lectures, Joe Rogan's Podcast among other things have forever altered my way of thinking, my social conduct/interacting with people, my take on religion, politics, psychedelics, relationships, reality, consciousness and everything else imaginable. I'm a big fan of mckenna and mushrooms. I could learn a lot about myself and the world! I'm still learning. Ayahuasca is very very good too.. My next new experience will be with Amanita muscaria. Not sure if you have ever tried them, but it seams as if you are lumping them in with drugs like amphetamines or opiates. They are nothing like that and i don't think anyone would want to take them everyday. Cannabis maybe for some people, but even still in my humble opinion smoking a joint or two in an evening would not really have a detrimental effect on most peoples life's :)

@revolution..if you have the pipe going every evening, you have an issue.You are no longer"exploring"your mind at that point.If you don't smoke and take a drag of a cigarette..you have an incredible head rush..that's your brain starving for oxygen. If you smoke everyday, your body adapts but the physical damage has begun.Psychedelics of any kind do the same thing. You are entering an alternate realty which the mind body system doesn't differentiate between actual reality. They too cause measurable changes to the physical body. While you are playing the body is releasing all sorts of chemicals and reacting as if the events on screen were actually happening. You are in an extremely heightened physical and emotional state for long periods.

@revolution..all addiction is psychological in nature.The body is incredibly resilient, & starts to heal itself after the last exposure, trying desperately to repair the damage being caused.It's incredible how much abuse the body can take.The effects are definitely physical as well..you are basically over clocking your brain..would you run a car at 8000 rpm for an hour? Even a short burst could case major physical damage. You don't SEE the brain/mind until issues arise but by then, it's to late.

@2Crystalight, I mentioned my objections previously and was pretty much ignored/told I don't have to take the drug if I don't want to. Its pretty obvious after watching his videos that the entire point is that you have to take the drugs to really "get it," whatever "it" is. I can only judge these drugs with my own perception, this guy tells me if I take his mind-altering drugs I will have my perception altered and realize there's nothing wrong with it. Who you gonna trust, me or your own sense?

I could search for a feeling of unification with everything for as long as I live but nothing beats 5g of psilocybin and silence. How I wish I could gain that experience. I want that experience so badly.
