  • from my understanding, helieum is in the P section but why when finding Scadium do you put it as 1s2 when from my understanding it should be 1s1 and 1p1 etc

  • Helium is not in the p section though it looks that way on most periodic tables. The reason this occurs is because the nature of helium is dichotomous. Helium is a Noble gas but also only has two valence electrons. So for the purposes of electron configuration Helium should actually be next to Hydrogen sitting in group 2. Hope that helps.
