This tutorial was made for an older version of audacity and lame... the new Lame encoder places the file in its own folder. I believe it's in Program Files and called Lame Encoder or something like that. When you go to export as Mp3 in audacity for the first time it will ask for the lame_enc.dll file.. just navigate to that folder and click the file.

Isn't it where when you record something you could make it appear as a link or something?..

No. MP3 is a type of file. Just like video can me a quicktime (.mov) or windows media player (.wmv or .avi) etc, MP3 refers to a type of sound file that is compressed very small but still maintains good sound quality. Audacity does not save it's files in this format by default. You have to add in the Lame MP3 Encoder.

Hello, can you watch my main video. Its headed as a test video. Its a recording of a Palestinian and an Israeli soldier. The Muslim call to prayer is too loud and its difficult to make out whats being said.

Can Audacity distinguish between the two and allow me to tone down the call to prayer?

I watched your video... you know, I'm not sure audacity can isolate out a sound unless you can sample it away from the other sounds. I'm not a audio professional either though. I've never had much luck trying to remove a voice or something in audacity. It does best for me for just basic room noise or sounds I can sample alone first... sorry I can't be of more help..

That's a pretty vague question. Is your source song not clear or is the mp3 encoding making it not clear?

ahhh when i recorded a song i moved it to movie maker, when it's on audacity, its clear i can hear it perfectly, but on movie maker it's not as clear, i can still understand and hear everything, it;s just not as clear as it is on audicty

I don't know... I have never had that issue with firefox.. it's just a small file called lame_enc.dll Try googling the file name and see if you find another source to download from.

Hi, I got a problem. When im going 2 press the Go to the LAME download page. i get this:

ATTENTION: Some browsers might make it difficult to download the files. Try Firefox 3, Opera, etc. I personally guarantee the files are accesible. DO NOT right-click or control-click to download!

When I install the Lame into my Audacity Plugins, I don't know which file to choose when I want to export as an MP3. The Lame that I downloaded has lots of files and I dont know which one to choose.

You don't have to put it in the plugins folder at all but it's ok if you do. There is only one file.. lame_enc.dll .. that has to be placed. You may have accidentally downloaded the wrong file. Let me know.

i have 1 quick question..

i first installed AUDACITY,

will the LAME still work if i try to activate LAME it a little later? or do i have to DOWNLAOD a new audacity??

(Lame isn't A. M.p3 E.ncoder) i think thats what it stands for idk.

You don't really "install" the lame file.. you just unzip it into a folder on your computer. I choose to go ahead and put it in the audacity folder but it doesn't matter. When you load up audacity, you should see "EXPORT AS MP3" under FILE.. when you choose that, you will be asked to point out where the LAME file is.. navigate to it and click OK and you should never have to do that again when exporting unless you move the LAME file to a different folder. Hope that helped.

Sorry, this tutorial and codec are for the audio recording software called Audacity. It has nothing to do with MS MovieMaker.

Windows vista won't let me put in those LAME files into the audacity files. Now I know why Windows Vista sucks.

I don't have Vista, but just a note.. you don't have to put the lame files actually in the Audacity folder.. I did that just to stay organized. You can place the lame files in My Documents or anywhere... when you go to mixdown to MP3 in Audacity it will ask you where the lame file is.. then you just point to the folder you placed them in.. you only have to do this once.

I have never heard someone say the lame encoder was a virus. It is a pretty common encoder that many have used. I would think your problems arose from somewhere else..
