Do what I did, use another computer, my desktop wasn't doing the trick, error error all the time I've used a laptop with a vista and no problem wwala and it was restored, just like that...then go back on your computer and then get the backup file back on your phone through iTunes

look just plug in your ipod or iphone onto computer, put in DFU mode, go to itunes and hold (Ctrl+Shift) and click restore and that is comanding itunes to restore to 2.2.1 software. and that`s it. good as new. message me at my page and tell me how it went.....enjoy

That is called DFU mode just go on the internet and search DFU mode you hold then home and power for 10 seconds let go of the power button and keep holding the home for another ten and on itunes you will hear a ding dong and its done.

Your iphone is not bricked becuase you can restore it through DFU mode.

DFU mode works with jailbroken iphones also.

Bricked means that you cannot restore or fix it without getting some hardware replaced.

DFU mode puts you iphone in a state where it says "There is something wrong with me" and it basically forces through all the glitches/freezes and MAKES the iphone connect with itunes. you HAVE to restore your iphone after doing this to use it again
