After the theater scene when she have to call a taxi, I wondered will they make it. I really want to know what the end of the movie like at that point.
just did something similar to this earlier after a tennis match, I engaged small talk with the cute girl moderating the games, told her she was attractive and that life's too short, that I wasn't afraid of telling a pretty girl she's pretty. I remember seeing this movie years ago, maybe it happened subconsciously but in my mind was purely spontaneous. that was the first time I ever did something like that and it felt really good. there was nothing to lose, a bit of courage is all it takes guys!!
@Ahmedabdelreheem she had the biggest smile on her face! she was the one who actually started the convo, so I felt naturally confident about the encounter. Girls love that kinda thing since most of them assume most guys are too intimidated to hit them up with small talk. She had this feminine quality in her voice too, just like my friend who I told her she sorta reminded me of. "That's really sweet of u" were her words after the look on her face that caught her off guard when I told/made her day
@trickmastermonkey as Humphrey Bogart said in Casablanca, about you I think, : "He just a lucky guy !" Because my similar memory.. ended tragically!!!
@Ahmedabdelreheem If you think that's something, listen to this. Shepherd was interested in lesbianism and admits she may be bisexual. Robert De Niro asked her out during filming Taxi Driver, but she turned him down and from then on out - De Niro would only talk to her in character. She agreed to date Jack Nicholson to make her ex-boyfriend jealous - however then later canceled it and Nicholson fell out with her. She's very political. She's such an interesting character.
Bogdanovich almost destroyed what he created with the "Daisy Miller" Cybill vehicle, whilst stopping her working with other directors & getting experience. Betsy was written for a "Cybill Shepherd type" - Scorcese & Schrader thought they couldn't afford the real thing - but she loved the part and did it for what they offered - $35k. During filming De Niro hit on her but was rejected which infuriated him.
This & the cafe scene (mostly ad-libbed) proves she could work with the best.
I never understood why she agreed to go out with him. She is an upper class, ivy league girl. By definition, she would have had a lifetime of learning to look down on a person like Travis. Even his clothes set him apart from her, different class, different stratosphere. Pretty, smart, rich daddy's girls like Betsy would have dozens of men lurching themselves onto her. It never made sense to me why she went on the date...
this is a fantastic scene..its such a tender,almost romantic scene which is another reason why its such a good film because its far from romantic but scorsese has charcters with real depth
cybil sherperd is hot here...for some reason she reminds me of emma bunton from the spice girls!!!..top film....de niro is class
@MrFitzek Waw, this is a fine analysis. You should work as film critic. I disagree with you about thing; cybil sherperd isn't hot here, she's VERY hot; listen to her "Why" not many girls can say it that way!

@iamleothelioness I have 3 answers :
1_Because he "felt her", was funny, and looked real.
2_Offers like these, back in the day, used to be less scary i think.
3_The script just wanted that !
