Ben "And the government obviously has to run the military"
Yeah and every other industrialized country in the world says the same about health care. American arguments over health care boggle my mind. If their system was successful, I could see where they're coming from. I know Ben agrees with me, I just thought it was funny that he had to make that argument.
Your opinions must be shouted!! Will you believe in Obama's latest Health Care legislation?? Stop by my tube channel to learn exactly why Americans opinons means something !
I have to say... by looking at your subscriptions, that you are either 1) being sarcastic and it's not coming through correctly or 2) misreading me and making an ass of yourself in your reply. Either you really meant it and you're demonstrating exactly how useless a person can be in public discourse, or you didn't mean to come across like a rabid troll, but did anyway.
I love the crap about people "not wanting" insurance...its like the idiots who think homeless people "want" to be homeless; for every person that reasoning applies to, there are a thousand normal people who just need help.
hes leaving out the mass rule also and that is if u dont have health insurance then there is a 75 dollar fine and some people find it cheaper then paying for accual health insurance its like wtf
It's a LIE that if you can't afford health insurance you can get Medicaid and they KNOW IT. THEY changed the RULES in 1996 to where eligibility is greatly reduced, they put caps on the amount of TIME a person can get Medicaid, they took it away completely from all adults between 21 and 65 if they don't have school age children in the home. States put a FREEZE on it to cut the number of NEW people getting on it regardless of circumstances. Income limits are encredibly LOW.

thats not true about the unaffordable part it wouldnt bankrupt US pointless war will put the US in debt but look at other countries that have some sort of universal healthcare they can afford it and they pay less for the health care and it wont corrupt the nation if anything it will make the nation better and maybe get others to help eachother out more u r an idiot we can figureout how to get money for the healthcare if we can find the money for wars and if u want to keep the insurance u can
The real DEATH PANELS are the insurance companies that deny a person coverage or raise peoples rates because of pre-existing conditions.
Having a public option keeps the private insurance companies more honest and drives cost down. Without a public option, cost will more than likely stay up.
Fox News, many Republican lawmakers, Lou Dobbs, Beck and Limbaugh are spreading lies about death panels and health care in general.
Why is it that when people talk about public healthcare in this country they only think about medicare/medicade? People seem to forget about Indian Health, Tricare, Veterans Health Admin, State Children's health insurance progam/California's healthy families, and Federal employees health benefits. These are all programs that work in the US and can be used to model a public option.
He is SOOOOO right with telling about the military. I felt his pain.....lol. I was in the Marines myself and my final exam/physical consists of me getting asked questions and bloodwork. Nothing else.....LOL. It's sad.
I get out and now i find out that i have issues with my liver.....that means the marines ONLY tested for HIV and left it at that.
I'm on Ben and TYT's song, but the education system is a bust. I'm Canadian and I've taught English in Korea, and I think those education systems are busts, too. So the US system surely follows suit. And oh man, did you just cite the US's elite universities as proof that they do it well? That's just like saying that US healthcare is great because it is the best for the very rich! And there are many people who cannot afford even the cheaper state options!
And oh man, how did I forget to mention that most of the elite schools are PRIVATE!
As I said, I stand with TYT and Ben in supporting a strong public option for Americans. But citing education as something the government does well - and the way it was argued - did not serve Ben's point at all. Ben seems like a stand-up guy who would readily admit it. And that's good, because the argument has no legs at all.
The real DEATH PANELS are the insurance companies that deny a person coverage or raise peoples rates because of pre-existing conditions.
Our government is a combo of capitalism and social programs that really started from FDR.
Having a public option keeps the private insurance companies more honest and drives cost down. Without a public option, cost will more than likely stay up.
Fox News, many Republican lawmakers, Lou Dobbs, Beck and Limbaugh are spreading lies about death panels.

Americans are inherently a selfish people thats why these rich bastards are not willing to pay a little more tax to ensure that the poor people in USA can afford healthcare. Thats not communism in Europe, its a system that works to make sure everyone receives at least a minimal level of health care and other social benefits regardless of income bracket.
Republicans are just a bunch of assholes who only care about the rich in USA and market that as patriotism to a bunch of idiots. Peace
i live in britain and like everyone else i baulk every month when i see the tax taken fom me on my payslip , but i do not begrudge my nationiol insurance contributions , i know the good that payment does for the rest of society and it feels good knowing that if i was in trouble my fellow citizens would take care of me. health care is a right and should be the one thing most definately not left to the 'free market'.
As a Canadian, I obviously have better health care than most Americans, but I would love to see a real debate on this subject. The Pubs have to do a couple of things first: admit the current system needs reform, and offer at least one option. This BS about shouting people down, showing up armed, etc. is insanity that can only happen in America.
So, a public option would put price pressure on the big insurance companies. Big Pharma has agreed to jump on the bandwagon because they're scared shitless that Congress will pass a bill that would allow an American system (like a Canadian system) to negotiate with them. TYT has put this guy on because he is so weak and dumb that they can look brilliant, but I think (unfortunately) that it has backfired. He's just too dumb, lol. A high school debater could have whipped this guy's ass.
I guess the free market solution to this guy would be to kill the forty million people who don't have healthcare and then we wouldn't have forty million people without healthcare. However with the free market solution there would be another forty million people without healthcare because as the cost goes up so do the number of uninsured go up. I think I solved the answer to global warming! Let the insurance companies decide who gets healthcare. The best way to deplete the population.
When conservatives bring up that the government doesn't do anything well, that can't really be argued and isn't the point. The point is how do they compare to the private sector.
We've seen what private military costs us economically, politically, and in humanitarian costs.
We've seen corporate cops, like the BART police who shot dead a man pinned to the floor.
Our fire departments operate exceptionally well in putting out fires and paramedical aid.
I don't know who to compare to fire departments and I think the fact is, we wouldn't want to risk that enterprise to a free market - because our lives and property are on the line.
And right to the point, Medicaid is at least as cost effective if not far more so than private insurance, even though they get the customers who private insurance companies dump because you can't make money on them.
You seriously want to put your life and property into the hands of government? I gues you don't put any meaning into the phrase "all politicians are crooks"
and you seriously want to put your life and property into the hands of corporations? I guess you don't put any meaning into the duty of corporations with stockholders to pursue the most possible profit.
I think it's obvious to most that the US has a history of corporations doing it (first) with little regard to ethics.
Of course nobody would cover you; they would be mad. Insurance is profit business and there is no profit in someone like you. If you wanted to be insured for your medical costs you should have taken the right kind of insurance before you got into an accident. Don't make other people pay for your misfortune afterwards.
