  • the best is missn an angel

  • Great performance! Funkier than the beegees but they deserve the credit for writing

  • @derekhess85

Man... those guys could write some hits!

    Bee gees, that is.

  • I always think of "Number 5 Comes Alive" when I hear this song.....lol

  • good stuff, loved disco and the 70s

  • I love both, but I have the BeeGees version on my iPod coz i find it more smooth . Tavarez have very good dancing skills, though!

  • Tiny xxxx

  • was tavares or bee gees first with "no more than a woman"?

  • @ondead Bee Gees wrote and preformed "More Than A woman"

  • Tiny, Butch, Chubby...Who were the other two? This has to be the MOST UNDERRATED group of the 1970s!!! Love them!!!

  • @mrob75 Pooch & Ralph

  • @chaskins7500 GREAT NAMES

  • @mrob75 I can agree the more I look you seem to be right. I remember the Spinners and Mannhattans getting more attention.

  • @mrob75 Ralph and Pooch.

  • cool as cool can be!!!

  • HEY!! MANNY TE ACUERDAS DE ESTA ROLA? LA CHINGA Q NOS PUSIERON EN CASA JA JA JA

  • Those tall fuckers floated when they danced. Loved them.

  • I wish I could move like these guys.

  • SUPER!! ESTO ERA MÚSICA DE VERAS...CLARO QUE SÍ!!! LOS QUE LA CONOCIMOS DE CHICOS O ADOESCENTES , AHORA TAMBIÉN TENEMOS NOSTALGIA DE ESTO...ME IMAGINO LOS QUE LA LLEGARON A BAILAR EN LOS BOLICHES, EN LOS SETENTA... QUE ENVIDIA!!,P

  • A time when music WAS music...

  • @HouTown1 Spot on, and how great to see a real live orchestra in the background, rarely seen these days.....

  • Fantastic

  • I do those super steps over the places that I go to dance... SUPER.. TNX

  • There's a Tavares radio station since last saturday! :-)))

  • I GONNA SAY IT TO MY NEXT GIRL

  • fab

  • Absolutely fantastic. Tavares were a sensational group.

Music as it should be. The 70's were brill!!!

  • They sound great! But could have used Cholly Atkins....

  • It was in the throat, the video has its old value.

  • Love watching Chubby's dance moves!

  • @chaskins7500

    Not Tiny's????

  • Comment removed

  • The closest Butch ever came to be in time to the music and on time with the choreography!:) Love Tiny forever..................

  • @chaskins7500 Ye man,he didn't bang on the beat,always jumpin around,movin.

Energy brother, energy. These brothers had some voices tho.

  • @chaskins7500

    You're right about Butch!!

  • So damn fine these dude's.I keep in touch with Tiny on face book.

  • @Akatsuki250 i love them since the 70's

  • supppperrrrrrrr

  • I utterly adore this band and this song. Its timeless and sounds as good today as its ever done.

  • The Bee Gees were the essential genius of the album ... but Tavares' version p@wns theirs. The limber scrap and soul of their voices interests me more, and as does the more expansive key.

Where is the battle of SNF cuts? Mine are "How Deep Is Your Love?" "Manhattan Skyline," "More Than A Woman," "Night Fever" and "If I Can't Have You" (which feels ripe for some kind of twisted remake ... maybe that's happened, if so won't someone tell me?)

  • But it was released as a single - after the Tavares version fell down to the bottom of the charts RSO records released the Bee Gees version on a 45. I have it.

    Get well, Robin Gibb!

  • Both Tavares and Bee Gees sang this well, but it was written by the brothers Gibb...as was numberous hits hat were recorded by others...such as "Islands In A Stream"(Kenny Rodgers and Dolly Parton)

  • これこそ最新じゃないか

  • Both versions were used in Saturday Night Fever. The Bee Gees version was used late in the movie as a reprise.

  • i prefer the bee gees version.

  • i dont know who thinks this is the original ,the bee gees wrote this song and tavares recorded it ,but the bee gees sang it too.on sat nite fever.

  • both are great... thank you to know this version too

  • ¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡Me siguen emocionando cuando los escucho!!!!!!!!!!!

  • One great R&B Black soul music, make by a the best white songwriters of all times.....The Bee Gees.....Tavares is a great vocals too.

  • @bartalinigibb

NO BOO! .. TAVARES ARE THE ORIGINAL SONGWRITERS OF THIS ONE BOO! .. THE B G'S GOT THIS SONG OF THEM.

  • Bee Gees wrote this song

  • @2michieu

Sorry-you're wrong. The Bee Gees offered it to Tavares

  • @2michieu Im with Bart.. i remember this first by Tavares LONG before saturday nite fever ..

  • This is a great remembrance. Thank you.

  • Of course this is the better version. Something about his voice that just turns me on. Get down Butch and all the brothers.

  • I was in high school when this song was a hit...I remember the kids liked this Tavares version of "More Than A Woman" better than the Bee Gees version. It just had so much more soul to it...And it was (and still is) fun to sing along to!

  • Buenisimos, que musicota!.

  • When music was real music and boy i wish those days would come back!!

  • i love this video

  • me encantan los 70s carajo !

  • was this the original version or the beegees one?

  • @TheDIGITAL666

This is the original. The Bee Gees version wasn't released until the Tavares version had almost fallen off of the Billboard Hot 100.

  • @Rusty3659 oh no it isnt the original .the bee gees wrote this song.therfore tavares recorded it.

  • The Bee Gees version wasn't released as a single because they wrote it for Saturday Night Fever.

  • @durandurango1 I have the Bee Gees version on the flipside of 'Staying Alive'!

  • @Elisabeth1903 Congratulations. You have the soundtrack album.

  • @durandurango1 en wikipedia org/wiki/More_Than_a_Woman_%28Bee_Gees_song%29

  • @durandurango1 I have. I just mean the single.

  • im sooooo glad that my mum was playing this kinda classy music when i was growing up otherwise i would have NEVER appreciated REAL music :)

  • This song is on the Saturday Night Fever Soundtrack . . .!!!

  • One of the many great family groups from the 70's

  • Love this time's music!!! and Tavares is simply the best =D

  • I love this version better

  • Who killed the disco? I had many a great night dancing to every song played on the turntable. Today's music is mundane.

  • I am 53, from the big Apple. Grew up listening to all this music. I am so glad I grew up during those times, it started in 76 for me then it ran all the way to 83 when I joined the Marines. I hung out tough for 7 years in the best city in the world. Loved it. Worked all day, partied all night and then repeated.

  • Tavares Rock! The lead singer has an awesome voice!

  • Its a darn shame, should have been Dawson and Joey walking in the sunset...............Pacey is a douchebag ,what kind of guy steals his best friends girlfriend??? With friends like Pacey who needs enemies!

  • pure class.

  • Yeah :-)

  • cabo verde in the house

  • They still go around now, so worth going to see

  • Simply fabulous group! Great voices and sexy as all get out!!! Hats off to these guys mom and dad...LOL! Fine, fine, fine, and super talented too! Ya can't ask for much more than that! Peace to all.

  • I love Tavares, Earth Wind and Fire and Kool and the Gang. :)

  • OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOhh yes she is..always more then a woman.

  • More than a woman? Was she a chick with a dick? Transformers! More than meets the eye.

  • @Jefgg Foul... STRAIGHT-UP foul.

  • Always thought this sounded so slick and tight. Great voices on these dudes! A great song penned by the BeeGee's, and Tavares voices made it even better. It's why it's included on that soundtrack.

  • This is a much better version than the Bee Gees. Great music from a very unique era. My teen years!!!

Notice a LIVE ORCHESTRA and NO Lip-syncing. True Talent. Unlike today.

  • @Hinda39 You're right! Back then, musical groups had to run the gauntlet of countless gigs and nightclubs before getting noticed and signed on with one of the big music labels, like Motown for example.

Today, solo singers and groups can be manufactured out of thin air and rammed down our throats by marketing formulas and profit margins.

Technology has paradoxically destroyed talent because it's cheaper to manipulate and exploit consumers. Music is just another disposable commodity now.

  • This is a much better version than the Bee Gees. Great music from a very unique era. My teen years!!!

  • That was awesome!

  • good song!

  • Nice!

  • Got to know Tavares very well in the 70`s when they were touring in the UK. They were the best group of their time. Fabulous, it takes me back and I wish we could get his music back. Chubby was always favourite with me although I loved them all

  • I lived in Bay Village. A housing project in New Bedford massachusetts. I live next door the Auntie Jenny. ( the Aunt of Tavares) As a very young kid I used to listen to these guys sing on the park wall right under my bedroom window. I can even remember thier first national apperance on the Mike Douglas show. We were all crammed into the the back hall of the Band Club to watch on a small 13" black and white tv!!!! My name is Billy Griva ( Pat's son) I love listening to them still!!!!

  • omg! i feel old! :P more then a history for me

  • I love them ! And this song is so cool !!

  • I also prefer their version to the Bee Gees'...just seemed a bit more funky and free than the original.

  • @WhatsAYak THIS WAS THE ORIGINAL!!!! The BEE GEES COVERED IT FROM TAVARES

  • @racktime - They did? I know the Bee Gees wrote it, but the Wikipedia entry doesn't say one way or another who recorded it first.

  • @WhatsAYak I believe tavares recored it 1st because the bee gee's said they wrote it for them sooooooo, then they dedicated to mimick they way they sung it, thats what I believe

  • @stevieplez2 Just watch 'Tavaresremix'.

  • Family!!!!

  • Sometimes I wish I was alive in the 70's to have lived this music, its so good. But no loss I gained as an 80's baby, I lived michael jackson!!!!!

  • @cr8xlns Hey! I thought I was the only one: I was born in 1983, but I grew up listening to anything from 1970's onawards. =)

  • I time when music was kind to the ears. Classic :-)

  • Awesome!!!!!!! I would have LOVED to see them live but I wasn't born yet, but I love 'em!!

  • @shoegirl619 You can see them still live! :-)

  • No lip-sync bullshit the real deal!!

  • started to develop we naturally reached for what was near.. Im sure you know despite hiphops appetite folks were still making great songs like this. Its true that we sample/flip /remix whatever you want to call it but the real truth is that by doing so we have introduced these artists to a wider audience and in a way helped keep thier music/voices alive.dont be fooled we know where our music comes from and thats why we enjoy it so.Most of us grew up imatating these great singers so there.

  • Okay I feel the need to get some of this..Yuo say that hip hop ruined this type of music i say it has had the opposite effect. As a youngster growing up this is what we had to listen to and we love Taveres..with that said hiphop has been a part of my life and most of the world for the better of 30 years or so depending on where you grew up. Me im from Harlem and in the early 70s R&B dominated the scene.. All our parents had these joints in heavy rotation So of course when hiphop -

  • They sing it better tnan the Bee Gees -execellent voice range

  • Love this song, its so beautiful.

  • uit de tijd dat muziek nog muziek was

  • Love it. Shoodup! Shoodup! :)

  • es un grupo unico, bailan cantan de verdad

  • that performance was made in chile south america in el festival de la cancion of vina del mar, I can see that.!!

  • @lbustam1

Error, that performance was made in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, during the "Musical Mallorca '78".

  • What happened to this kind of music? Thanks to YouTube and satellite radio...at least I can hear these old great songs there! Love this song.....

  • @GBPackersWon what happened to this kind of music? One word Rap. The early rap was great. Now their crap you incl many of the new hip hop too

  • Is this a cover of the bee gee's version?

  • @Mukai41 Both songs were released on the soundtrack of "saturday night fever".The song is written by Barry Gibb of the Bee Gees. Both versions were released at the same time.Oonly difference is the singing style and sounds of the voices. Tavares give the song more soul and flavour, and therefore is far better than the Bee Gees. The nasal falsetto voice of Barry Gibb sometimes works annoying on this song. But true Bee Gee fans will disagree with me, soul fans will agree!

  • @peterpiessens i was sitting here thinking the same thing. this one is very soulful

  • @Mukai41 They were both released together in Saturday Night Fever, not sure which was written first.

  • Great!... I miss the 70's... Just great times, lots of good music and good fun...Thanks

  • uuuh they got they mariachi suits on

  • LUVS them! I grew up listening to the Tavares, and always LOVED the fact that they hail from my Hometown of New Bedford, Massachusetts. Yesss! An Xtra SEXY Shout Out to Butch, who was ALWAYS my fave!!!

  • @kevrez32 i'm 31 so Taveres was passed down to me I always thought Tiny and Butch were so handsome

  • LUVS THEM!!!! i grew up listening to the TAVARES & is VERY proud that they hail from my Hometown of New Bedford, Massachussetts. Yesss! an EXTRA Special SEXY Shout to Butch who was always my FAVE!!!

  • @kevrez32 Butch? Again!?

  • under-rated group........i like this version of the song better than the bee gee's version

    they got the moves!!!

  • @dettigs Shit, at my house they weren't underated. My father was a dj on the side and we use to kill tavares

  • @dettigs AMEN! it really JAMS OH SO MUCH!!! The Bee gees were wonderful, but their version was a more mellow =)

  • @dettigs i agree

  • @dettigs one of the best groups of all times!!

  • @dettigs I like taveres but the BeeGees version is much better tyo my ears...

  • @Doveman21 You're crazy!... Those vocals are sooo bad!

  • Love it.

  • I just love seeing this video of them dancing, those are some fine hot sexy men, with an extra sexy for Butch, you know i have to put that
