  • Hell yeah... I wish I had a projector...

  • Haha knutstorp ring, första kurvan :p

  • IF U NEED A TRADMILL OR ARE INTRESTED IN ONE CONTACT=STUDENT AT STC

  • Oh, when do you plan to go retail? I've been contemplating my options and already purchased the projector. Now just waiting for your product. I know you need investors, I hope you can do it

  • Been watching all your videos, I forgot to ask at what price point are you looking to be? I just purchased today a Optoma GT720 gaming projector in anticipation. It's 720p 3D. This should be sufficient correct?

  • yes you are me to =D

  • are you swedish?

  • My god this on l4d2 or killing floor would blow your fucking mind beyond belive !

  • loks sexy give me this i need it <3

  • what's this new dome solution you talk of that is a single projector solution?

  • Yes it is a single projector solution - consider it a complement to your home cinema system.

  • great product!!! the stereoscopic problem can be solved by software. You have to write a software to adjust the edges of the screen to allow for the curvature of the dome. Not hard to do for people with the right skills. Best of luck to your product!

  • The ribs in the image are an absolute deal-breaker... a shame as otherwise an ok product. My home sim is infinitely more immersive - triple projector stereoscopic 3d all the way! :D

  • Your system seems impressive, but it is a

permanent setup. Not everybody has a room dedicated to their gaming system and not everybody can afford 3 projectors - heck, people are think it is expensive to get 1 projector.

The jDome is a removable screen, and should be an easy one as such.

I agree that the ribs are annoyingly visable in the videos, but they hardly are when you play. If the ribs really were an issue, do you really think that other gamers comments would be so ecstatic? :-)

  • You are very quick to defend this product as usual, but there are better solutions. There is a highly affordable front (single) projector solution about to hit the market which will cost about the same as the jDome but offer a significant more amount of immersion (watch this space). Your biggest stumbling point is the inability to effectively use stereoscopic equipment with such a curved screen configuration,

  • which is a masssive no-no if people are looking for an immersive experience with their games.

Whatever you may think, your product is flawed in a couple of fundamental ways and because of this won't be for everybody. It is neat yes, but not the best solution for the kind of budget you are speaking of.

  • In terms of the other gamers comments being 'ecstatic', that is far from what I'm reading below.

Don't get me wrong, it IS a good product and I wish you luck with it, but there are better solutions on the horizon.

  • I'm far from defending the jDome, I don't need to. I've put the jDome to public test for over a year and it is at these occasions we have tried to capture what gamers, who have acually tried the jDome, say. It is these ecstatic voices I refer to.

Problem for the jDome has been to try and convey the feeling of gaming with a jDome tru a video, which yours and others comments show.

If I've had a ton of money to start with, I would made a lot more demoproducts and then better videos :-)

  • As for 3D - who says the jDome doesn't work for 3D? If I go out now and showcase jDome with 3D-goggels, it would be one more thing gamers would have to invest in + a jDome + a projector.

You have to take things in good order. Get out the jDome way of gaming first and then all the extra stuff later on - and I have think I have a cool lineup which will be revealed if the jDome succeeds.

Which "better" solutions are you talking about?

And btw, thank you for the Good Luck! :-)

  • Great idea, but it would be nicer to have less of a curve look in the game, but nonetheless, its a really great idea and looks amazing :)

  • looks nice, but one thing is disturbing me... just look at the right mirror. It looks like its sticked to the right window :S... looks nice, but i rather get 3 22" monitors than this

  • i meant the left one ;P

  • what resolution are you running the game on?

  • 1920x1080 (Full HD) but it especially racing games works fine with 720p

  • amazing! just still need some fixing on picture stretch? but .. hmm.. anyone know how much good beamer would cost me?

  • Please take the Quick Market Survey on the jDome site and we'll notify you when it comes out.

In March a jDome Limitied Edition will be released, mainly for demonstrative purposes, and at a much higher price than the retail version - however it will give gamers an exciting taste of what to come.

  • when y go to play y have a error: race1.1.1.14has crashed

    please submit the file minidump

    ¿WATH CAN Y DO?

  • faan vad coolt !

  • Wow! :-O

  • I would to play some games like Penumbra or STALKER on that screen. Very cool.

  • Well, hopefully we'll have some promos out on how those games work on the jDome, ahortly - stay tuned.

If you know how to change the FOV in those games, please post them to our forum.

Also, subscribe to the jDomeProject YouTube Channel to get a notification when a new jDome-promo gets released!

  • Well I know Timeshift and Quake wars you can change the fov. I thin Penumbra uses the doom3 engine like quake wars so it might be possible to chage the fov via console commands.

  • Hopefully we'll have a promo of Doom 3 on the jDome in a couple of weeks - and what a scary experience it is!

  • Did you see the CoD 4 demo?

  • Yes I did. Very nice. There are some newer games that are also coming out that might be interesting to try. One is Pyroblazer which is like a futuristic tunel racer. NecroVision which a fps like Painkiller and Cryostasis which is a FPA horror game.

  • Personally I find it difficult to play driving games with no pedals.

  • There are, of course, pedals. They are just hidden from view.

  • Er, yes - and they are of course, inaccessible, because that bloody cumbersome dome is in the way!! ;)

  • Er, no - there is a slit in the bottom of the jDome - which makes them accessible... ;-) It is a protoype, and the final version might have an arch for the feet instead.

  • Er, yes - when the camera pans around it is clearly visible that the pedals are completely inaccessible, even with the 'slit' you talk about. And, for you to charge $4000 for this prototype without at least offering this arch as an option is a bit laughable to say the least! ;)

  • Er, no - just because you observe something, doesn't make it so. The jDome-material isn't solid so you just put your feet through the slit and there they are - the pedals! ;-)

If you buy a prototype, I'll make sure you have an arch, as they are handmade (hence the price). Actually we had a prototype which had an arch, but we sold that one for $8000 to the Dreamhack event company - the worlds largest computer festival.

  • LOL John, John John, you really are a cheeky boy!... methinks you are missing chrisjarram's point somewhat!

The pedals are hard to get to is what he was saying, and 4-8 grand of anyones money is a ripoff even for a prototype...

As for the 'worlds largest computer festival' comment, you should be careful or it won't be long before you can't fit your head in that giant albino testical anymore!

  • "completly inaccessible" is hardly "hard to get", me thinks ;-)

If you stood a couple of days and made these domes by hand, I think you would charge about the same ;-)

Besides - I clearly state on the page where you can buy a prototype that it will finance further development of the jDome.

Why should *I* be careful of Dreamhack slogan? I don't get it? :-)

  • Wow, pedantic too!

  • "Accurate", is the word I would use ;-)

  • "Over defensive" I feel is more appropriate! ;)

  • fantastic

  • very cool cockpit

  • And just a thought. I'm guessing you've heard this question before, but would it be somewhat possible-with the right sponsorship, RnD n' all-to also supply purpose-built projectors with the jDome?Something like basic functionality and optimum quality just for the jDome.

    Cheers

  • Now THAT'S what i've been waiting for all this time. I've been keeping an eye on this project and i was curious if you'd ever make a demo of how the jDome could be adjusted for simracing. Exactly how i pictured it. One thing's for certain. As soon as the dome is in production and as soon as i've got the cash, a projector and a dome is surely on the list. John Nilsson, you've sure made this project appeal to my interests even more now that you've demonstrated the dome on my "turf" ;). Brilliant!

  • Glad you liked it LooneyJuice - we would have done it sooner if we had'nt been busy showcasing the jDome at all the events we've been invited to.

    A pleasant problem I guess :-)

  • Well. More events, more people, more views, more possible sponsors, earlier production. Certainly a pleasant problem hehe :). And of course, better late than never concerning the simracing demo.

    cheers

  • Nice job John, keep it up
