  • DIS IS MY S--T...STOP PLAYING...TONY HUMPHRIES RAN DIS @ CLUB ZANZIBAR..BRICK CITY..BABY!!!!!!

  • Damm this song brings back memories.

  • I guess Stylo really does resemble this. However, I think that the songs are different enough that it would've been fine IF Gorillaz listed Eddy as a co-writer, which they didn't.

  • @maalbe987 Stylo barely resembles this. Why should the Gorillaz credit Eddy if he had nothing to do with their composition? It's ridiculous.

  • This is arguably the earliest 'Tech House' tune I had ever heard. I remember at the time dancing at my local under 18s Disco to this. Definitely in the spirit of Francine Mc Gees 'Delirious', or 'Super Nature' by Cerrone.

  • the Garage set the standard

  • FRANKIE!!!!!! Work it! All Warehouse members...STAND UP!

  • 1 of "The Greatest" Disco & House blendings ever 4sure, takes you back to that era instantly, with the Disco Styled Grooves & the obvious Root/s of House that are in there under the Bassline.

  • Paradise Garage.....nothing ever came close!

  • @rickji1 iI beg to differ...

  • True House Dancers showed some much skill with this track on the dance floor.. this is a headbanger.

  • ooooh,,,thats the shit!!! werk mama...!!!!!

  • stylo is muuuch better than THIS.

  • Gorillaz sampled this song. dont know what sampled is? look it up

  • @XxknowsabexX Sampling is implementing a previously recorded snippet of one work into another work. In Stylo's case, it is not sampling, and I highly doubt that it was stolen either. It is a common progression and it's not even note for note. There are dozens of tracks that probably seem to "steal" this as well. If you think this was stolen, you probably think Jimmy Page ripped of Spirit or the Red Hot Chili Peppers stole from tom Petty.

  • Do do do do do do do do!!!!

  • Turn it up!!!

  • i use to go to newton high school in queens im colombian and this remind me of a girlfriend shes colombian we use to party in 1985 todo bien adrian a besos no te olvido

  • THIS DOSNT SOUND LIKE STYLO

  • @enchiladaproductionz You're absolutely wright. Stylo sounds like this.

  • One Hit Wonder?.?.?. Perhsps when you segment the music but Eddie Grants succes was firmly planted in his Reggae audience. With Warp 9 he did what many artist of this time did, a cross over hit Unfortunately, few recall the "better Dead Than Disco" craze due to white girls abandoning the Lynyrd Skynyrd scene for the dance floors. Their male counterpoints didn't care for this eventually hosting a burn dico/dance records at Wrigley field party. And hence the birth of underground/house.

  • GARAGE SOUND N.Y.C

  • And yet Eddy was right to sue Gorillaz for stealing his music and using it without his permission.. I would do the same if something like that happened to me! I love all of his music which is so unique and nothing can be compared to it at all. He is one of my heroes, so.... big LOVE to EDDY GRANT!!

  • Hey People, why do u compare Gorillaz to Eddy Grant? I think it has no sense 2 do it at all. Eddy's the living legend to millions of his fans/friends in the world, he's sacrificed all his life, put all of his heart to help other artists to make a success. If he wanted he could even be a president of his country, Guyana... He's a good friend of such people like Nelson Mandela who is a living symbol of Freedom in the world... So how can u be so abusive towards him not knowing him at all?

  • Love Eddy Grant.... Still have my vinyl, He worked the hell out this jam ~

  • I know there is a lot of history with the Garage and I respect that, I used to frequent Inferno's though back in 80-82, I think it was located on 19th and 5th, the music was the s*** and we used to get out of there around 6 or 7 in the am, ears ringing for the rest of the week.

  • I can't believe this guy want's to sue Gorillaz :( The intro synth riff sounds about 40% like it, but the bass line is totally different, the drum beat is too. It's still a cool song and I'm not saying anything bad about it and the artist... just saying tis a bit unfair x

  • @widgematidge I am I'm pissed off at him now... I dont even know a thing about him but no he has no need to try to start a law suit against the Gorilaz

  • @zoomG5 Totally agree! I've not heard of heard of him until he reared his head in the media for sueing the Gorillaz, and that says something. He's had his time, let Gorillaz have theirs! x : )

  • @zoomG5 why are u pissed at him? listen to both tracks, gorrilaz have clearly stolen portions of his song without his permission...he has done nothing wrong, why should they profit from his creativity without his permission?

  • @theinfamousjoel I have listened to both tracks, I'm hurt that you think i didn't, I'm not that uninformed, by not knowing a thing about him i meant like background and other tracks. I'm currentally running them simultaneously, I hear obvious major diffrences. Why don't you do the same?

  • @widgematidge i agree he just wants money sure there similar but not enough to sue

  • It sounds like one of the songs from Gorillaz Album "Plastic Beach"... the song is called "Stylo"

  • @Jonathan211094 therefore grant sued the gorillaz

  • NO ONE HIT WONDER. This man has amazing music. The Paradise Garage played all of his music......AMAZING! Underground, mysterious, enchanting! Eddie Grant, Old House........I miss the people, I miss the fun, I MISS TH E MUSIC

  • Underground cult classic that still sounds great 30 years later. Eddy Grant was a staple during that period. Can anyone post the extended version of Living on the Frontline. That was a masterpiece and a house anthem at the Loft and the Garage.

  • Everything in music has some point been nicked are reused duren time. The Jam nicked the bass line from Taxman by the Beatles and many others have been nicked aswell. The Gorillaz are more succesfully than Eddy Grant. Everyone has heard of Gorilaz but not many people know Eddy Grant so that ends the debut of who is more popular

  • @Scottmcrae1 : Eddy Grant doesn't have to be popular "today", because he is already an established legend; just like Jackie Chan, Jet Li, when compared to Bruce Lee. Jackie Chan & Jet Li are popular, but Bruce Lee is forever legend. Popularity fades, legacy never does. ;)

  • I REMEMBER, When this was NEW, A TRUE DANCE/DISCO CLASSIC here!

  • THIS IS STILL THE FUCKEN SHIT!!!

  • To this day, It's a beautiful thing to see people dance like crazy when I or another DJ spins it!

  • yo if you was at the Garage"84 king st. you would know(ass Hole) MR.Eddie Grant was the SHITTTT, back then n now ! levi say dat, gun shot pussy

  • @nephewjt Speak up! My nigga! This shit was cutting edge back in the day( NYC before it's time, when this shit dropped. 84 King Street, 99 Prince) and still rocks the shit out of today's new stuff. Walking onSunshine, Living on the Frontline( extended version) young niggas don't know.

  • NO WAY WAS EDDIE GRANT A ONE HIT WONDER. HE DID ELECTRIC AVENUE, WALKING ON SUNSHINE. NOBODY'S GOT TIME (WHICH IS THE VOCAL VERSION TO THIS) & TIME WARP WAS MOST DEF AHEAD OF IT'S TIME

  • There's a slight resemblance. If the song had the exact same key change it'd be more convincing.

  • Yo, What Da Fuck? Whats wit all the Controversy, The only thing that mattered was the dance, the beat and the party and lots of love. We waited on long lines just to be part of those days that we all loved So, So much. Where it happened, why it happen and who made it dosen't matter. All that matters is that we lived it. As far as I'm concerned It was one of the best parts of my life and I am sure that it was the same to many of you. Fuck da B.S. Keep the beat in your feet & Love In Your Hearts.

  • @tyg4evr OK you lived it and don't care but others do care to clarify the NY/NJ/Philly history where house originaly came from, buddy.

  • This isn't house at all-it's one of those seminal late 70s thru early 80s NYC inspired underground jams that were the template for what was exported and mimiced in Chicago. 30 years later it still sounds current.

  • That's where definition of "house" differs in NY/NJ vs. Chicago. Chicago is based more on Warehouse (Ron Hardy). House in NY/NJ defined underground that you would only hear at the spots we all went to (hence, the "house"); be it Garage, Loft, Zanzibar, etc. Larry Levan used to play "Spasticus Artisticus" by Ian Drury on the regular and everyone used to lose their minds on that; as well as "I Want A New Drug" by Huey Lewis because he was just crazy like that. ;)

  • @OneMixDJ The Chi definition of house was their term for the types of American and Euro records records played in the existing NYC underground club scene. Which was exactly what Knuckles brought with him from NYC. The actual "house" records that Chi made much later on in the mid-80s on the other hand, were direct knock-offs of NY records that had for years flooded their radio and club mixes.

  • I must dis-agree Eddy Grant was really a great artist. Walking on Sunshine is heavenly.

  • thank you! larry, paradise garage, michael brody. also, thank you eddy grant for a fabulous dub of an original. as the video speaks louder than words: greatest anthems of all time. TRULY it is. TIME WARP.

now! you heard of it gorilla(Z) fans!

HA!HA!HA!HA! now join in the chant!

  • Gorillaz owns, end of history

  • @hugoxca : Gorillaz is good...very good; but Eddy Grant is pure legend. Compared to him, Gorillaz got a long way to go...

  • The Paradise Garage still LIVES!!!! It's in all of us that watched the sun rise on that roof and Danced off gallons of fluids.

  • @Dragon652 for sure!!! I miss those days, I was fortunate to get in with no membership, RIP Larry..

  • @Dragon652 Oh that roof was the best! LOL! Great times!

  • @Dragon652 your so right!

  • the similarities ARE there. you cant ignore that. regardless speed of song and type of instruments etc.

both are brilliant songs, but you cant blame a man to feel he's been ripped off of his original work. i'm in favour of everyone forgiving and forgetting :)

  • cmon, 3 notes? then its easy as hell for that "time warp" song looks like 100000000 another songs!

I'm almost starting to feel sorry for him. he's so desperate for some attention he's inventing this bull$hit with, imo, a better and most famous band than his....

oh cmon, he's *SO* famous i've never heard of him!

    ~Murdoc is God \m/~

  • @713ZombieGhoul317 Don't blame a long time legend of the music business for your lack of musical knowledge.

  • Comment removed

  • lol how does this sound like stylo? with only so many ways to play around with a synth, theres gonna be a bunch of songs tht sound similar. this sounds like eddy grant took THIS song from boogie oogie oogie.

  • You can tell this song predates much of what we know as House music - it has the vocal riff that you associate with the '70s.

All I had really heard of Eddy Grant was what was fed to me by MTV in the early '80s. Nice as "Electric Avenue" was, it's a shame that I don't know more of what this cat was/is about.

  • This does kind sound like Stylo, but not enough to be copied, I think. their's was a little deeper..But I do see why Grant would have thought Gorillaz stole it.

    STYLO IS STILL BETTER!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Although I like Stylo better than this...you can clearly see how many samples and ideas were taken from this to make the song...lol props to both Eddie and Gorillaz for making good music though..

  • after the world messed with you all week we went to garage and Larry set things right with songs like this and third world. You got on the floor with the confetti coming down and the fog machine going and the strobe lights and the music and the dance took you over. We would go into a trance and baby nothing mattered anymore nothing hurt and when you left the world was a better place. if it was fri you got another chance to do it again and I would. Thank you Larry

  • @igotTheSecret very nicely put, baby, 100% in agreement. My memories of those days sustain me even now

  • what the hell does he expect even if it's similar? Roaylties? how much are we talking to here. I will admit this sounds like a 16bit version of. the song

  • NICE I REMEMBER

  • It's over 2 minutes and the song hasn't started yet. What on Earth is that but a distorted keyboard, some beats and a once-and-a-while human chorus?

  • lol this only got popular after the Gorillaz incident

so many people trying to sue big names to get thiers out into the world....

if your music is GOOD, we'll listen to it. no need to go around suing to get attention.

  • Time Warp. Ahhh! Fitting name because it was truly before it's time The Loft and the Garage were the cutting edge of dance music at the time and it's resonations are very much alive today. Globally in the dance music community.

  • still have all my Garage cards

  • RIP Larry, I still have the promo copy you gave of Going back to my roots by Lamont Dozier. The Paradise Garage was my weekend escape as was The Loft.

  • Rip Larry I still have the promo you gave me of Lamount Dozier Going back to my roots. I still wish you would have given me your personal trac of X-MELODY. Thanks for the memories RIP Mike&Noel. Victor where ever you are thanx for introducing me to Larrry and the gang.and for giving me your Lp of Babe Ruth (The Mexican) I hope you remember . You showed me about mixing and remember when you played at my birthday party. Get at me one love

  • there's no way this sounds anything like Stylo.

  • best b-side of all times, hard as hell to mix so fast but worth the trouble for the right crowd ... that is when i actually spun out, of course. ha!

  • gorillaz byte

  • this is shit

Gorillaz is better so stop cried fucking bitch eddy grant

  • OH MY DAMMMMMM!!!!! I REMEMBER THIS TRACK WHEN I USE TO SNEAK OUT THE HOUSE WHEN I WAS 16YRS OLD TO GO HEAR RON HARDY WORK THE SHIT OUT OF THIS TRACK AT THE MUSIK BOX IN CHICAGO. WERQQQQQQQ!!!!!

  • super track!!!

  • @stalk8r Well i can tell from your incredibly shoddy grammer that your some poor little miserable 20 something whop swears that they are onto the next big thing. Just because you hit the bong and/or dropped a few hits of ecstacy you feel that your "more connected" to the music of today. I can see your type now, running around with a pacifier in your mouth or having glow sticks waved in your face, while swearing up and down that this is the music of the "future." Sad pathetic kids.

  • @blkvirgo So glad someone else said it.

  • If you think the Gorillaz "took" this synth part, it should take no more than 3 listens to tell them apart - and find out that Eddy Grant's arguments hold no water.

  • I remember this song, it use to get on my nerves specially the Doop, doop, doop dub, bad dubb doob.

  • Eddy Grant is just a one-hit wonder that's very possessive of his songs.

If he hears any similarities, he'll go after them.

  • @Convoicev2 One hit wonder? He owned early 80's underground club music, and the EU charts, bro. Time Warp, Walking on Sunshine, Electric Avenue, I Don't Wanna Dance, GImme Hope Jo'anna, Living on the Frontline, his Frontline Orchestra tracks... the list is long. 13 albums, a bunch of international number ones. He built and owns Coach House Recording in London where many bands recorded, including the Stones and Eric Burdon. When Gorillaz have HALF the success Eddy Grant has, let us know, mmkay?

  • @droopusmaximus When you ask someone on the street about how many songs by Eddy Grant they know and they can list something other than Electric Avenue, let everyone here know.

  • Comment removed

  • Comment removed

  • @droopusmaximus Quantity its not quality. When Eddy's songs get HALF the awesomeness ALL Gorillaz albums and songs have, let us know, 'mmkay'?

My music taste is very, very eclectic and this *sucks* imo.

  • @713ZombieGhoul317 "Awesomeness" is subjective. And if you had "eclectic" taste you wouldn't be listening to pop music. This is history from before you were born. You're entitled to like what you want, and dislike what you want, but when you grow up, you'll realize "awesomeness" is not a musical measurement. Places like the Garage, Better Days, Warehouse, Red Zone, Funhouse were a whole genre of music which you don't seem to understand.

That's ok. To each his own.

  • @droopusmaximus I agree with what you're saying, but Gorillaz is NOT pop music at all. It's very alternative, and has a verrrrrrry wide range of styles within itself. And it is superduperawesome. Chill. Out.

  • @713ZombieGhoul317 couldn't have said it better myself. It's the same goddamn thing for 20 minutes

  • @droopusmaximus How do you measure the success? Maybe Eddy has influenced more people, but charts and sales wise Gorillaz wins with 20 million albums sold (plus "Clint Eastwood" and "Feel Good Inc" which sold 3.5 million copies together). Remember that Gorillaz is not just Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett - it's a BIG project which has been contributed by lots of talents including half of The Clash, Lou Reed, Ike Turner, Bobby Womack, Dennis Hopper, Snoop Dogg, Neneh Cherry and De La Soul.

  • @droopusmaximus : You´re very right, bro ! But the Gorilla tracks with Bobby Womack are really crispy !!

  • @droopusmaximus Gorillaz have had a lot of success too and haven't even been around half as long as Eddy Grant. No offense to grant but I don't think you can downplay the success of the gorillaz, I mean, Demon Days went 5 times platinum in the UK and 2 times platinum in the U.S., along with the combined sales of both Gorillaz (Their debut album) and Demon Days totaling roughly 20 million, I would say they are a little more than half way there.

  • @droopusmaximus

+ loads of great stuff with the equals from the mid sixties on... check out 'black skin blue eyed boys' and 'i can see but you don't know' for a start.

  • .....how does this sound anything like Stylo?

  • It's similar, but not the same. we are just experiencing what blues musicians experienced with Rock n roll. Except we use electronic sounds from the 70s and 80s. Cycles.

  • this is brilliant house classic !!

mtv generation doesn't have a word here, stfu u brainwashed retards !!!

  • I JUST LISTEN TO BOTH ...I can see why Eddie is UPSET....ALOT OF MUSIC TODAY IS USING RIFFS & OLD SCHOOL BEATS..!!!! This song was a BIG HIT in the CLUBS like The FUNHOUSE, GARAGE, & THE ROXY I Could Go on on BUT U know what I mean..as for EDDIE & GORILLAS STYLO That between them.."It's BUSINESS NOT PERSONAL"

  • bikvirgo is obviously Eddy Grant. Just ignore him.

    Stylo > This shit.

  • A classic for those who have been there and who know.....

  • Comment removed

  • ok, you guys obviously have not been to the Garage or the Loft at 5-6 in the morning when this was put on, more powder spread on the floor busin da moves....

  • I can hear the sample at the beginning. Doesn't appear to be terribly out of line on the part of Gorillaz. I can't see Eddy grant winning this.

  • Can you really base a lawsuit on 4 notes played in the same order, and layed to a different rythm? This is ridiculous.

  • not even close. synth track sounds similar, but it's 100 years old anyway. who's to say eddy grant didn't rip it off from someone else? eat that, grant

  • @RingerFilms Another 21 or under kid with no musical history. While the adults were out really clubbing you were home still in training pants

  • @blkvirgo i know my music history, dude. i'd prove it, but it won't all fit in the comment box. all i was saying was it's an old riff that he didn't make up either, so he has no right to sue. probably should've said that in the first place

  • I seriously doubt that Gorillaz ripped off this song.

Stylo kicks way more ass anyway.

Murdoc is God! Hail Satan, baby!

  • @GhostiVanille Stylo? Murdoc? How much ecstasy do you kids do before you start believing your own bullshit.? You all go out to these "clubs" which are nothing more than places for you to do drugs and imagine you actually have rhythm. Your just a bunch of soulless nerds looking for your next high.

  • @blkvirgo FFFFFFF-

Never been to a club. Don't plan to ever go to a club.

Grant is an idiot to sue Gorillaz.

Once again, Murdoc is God, Hail Satan <3

  • @GhostiVanille MY DAY = MADE. LOL.

  • Stylo? WHO? This was the B-side to Eddie Grant's Electric Avenue 12" single in 1984.

To really feel this track one must seek the vocal version ... it's eeeerily relevant.

  • Oh yeah, I see what Eddy's talking about. Yeah this is total exploitation. Except that the exploitation here is an aging musician who wasn't even famous 20 years ago trying to piggyback himself into the limelight using Albarn's success and creativity.

    Murdoc is god!!

  • this song is much like Stylo, but I think a guy like Damon Albarn not copy it to gain success. For, already has plenty!

  • Ok he used a tune similar to what millions other musicians used, some of them before this song was released. Stylo has almost nothing to do with this.

Btw, this beat sucks balls. You suck balls. can´t compare it to stylo, LOL

  • Jammahh..

  • Damn, Zans.. Garage.... Melons.... Buttermilk bottom.... Need I say more??

  • I can totally see the similarities, but Eddy Grant is a fuggin' idiot. This song sounds like one million other things too.

  • The similarity (as small as it may be) between this song and Stylo is pure coincidence. Eddy Grant needs to get off his high horse and stop trying to cash in on such a simple riff that I'm sure many musicians have come up with on their own, because I'm confident that the guys behind Gorillaz are better than needing to resort to tearing through scores of "House Classics" (a genre where most of the songs already sound similar to each other) to find that perfect riff to "rip off".

  • Sounds a little like Stylo, but close enough to be a coincidence

  • I can hear the similarities, but I don't think they really copied it.

  • holy shit there is a lot of resemblance.....

  • Sounds nothing like Stylo, though I will say I DO like this song, it's catchy (first time listening)

  • imitation is the sincerest form of flattery! they only copied it cos they thought it was class. which means all you fckwits coming on loving da gorillaz and dismissing this are missing the point your masters are trying to make! listen to it a few times it is a brilliant track!

  • I admit Stylo is very close to this song, but thats it nowadays we're using old tracks to do new ones

  • sounds nothing like stylo

  • Sounds nothing like Stylo. Eddie Grant, fuck yourself.

  • @babadude94

you're right sound nothing like stylo.

    stylo sounds like this.

  • It's nothing like Stylo, and its pretty awful at that. Stylo on the other hand is awesome. How dare Eddy grant compare this rubbish to Stylo!

  • @mackat4ck SHUT YOUR STICKING MOUTH!! THIS IS A CLASSIC!!!! HAVE YOU BEEN IN A CLUB BACK WHEN THIS CAME OUT???? BRINGS BACK THE GOOD OLD DAYS OF CLUBBIN AKA DANCING!

  • @bxbigboy325 No I wasn't in a club high on drugs when this came out which is probably why I don't like it and find it repetitive. Besides it's just my opinion and there's no need to shout. Maybe if Eddie Grant kept his mouth shut I wouldn't say anything about this song or his feeble attempt to try and get some attention!

  • @bxbigboy325 tbh sounds like a porn movie soundtrack =S I wouldn't be wanting to be in a club during your days...the days these songs came out. AIDS was spreading quickly, so therefore i stick with Stylo, and this douchebag of a failed artist should not file a lawsuit since 4 of his 'original' notes are set up differently on another song

  • The section in question from stylo also sounds almost the same as the keyboard riff from van halen's "intruder". I suppose they copied off of Eddie grant too, huh?

  • Sounds similiar, but Stylo is 10 times the song this load of shit is. Fuck you Eddy Shitface.

  • it's a pretty simple riff.. i'm sure hundreds of people have come up with it messing with their pianos

  • He says Gorillaz stole this? Doesn't anyone else hear a bit of the Dr. Who theme here? Maybe he ripped it off the BBC.

  • I suppose the Beatles should sue Oasis for having a similar chord progression from "Don't Look Back in Anger" as "Let it Be"?

  • No offense to Eddy Grant fans but this song... is really boring and repetitive. Why did he say it sounds anything like Stylo? =\ That much I don't get.

  • wtf..how is this anything like stylo?

  • eddy grant has copied this off Gorillaz he should write his own music

  • All of you Gorillaz gimps can lick my balls.Anyone dissing Eddie Grant obviously knows nothing about his musical heritage.Eddie Grant was a founding member of The Originals, probably the UK's first inter-racial funk band and if it wasn't for tracks like 'Time Warp' and 'California style' you probably wouldn't have house and techno. You kids, man, you got no f&^*&ing culture.Peasants!

  • Lol the only similarity is the simple synth sound (that kind of scale is used in most songs anyway). This Grant guy sucks and wants attention. Damon Albarn prob never even heard this shite track.

  • I have to say that the tune in the beginning is the same as heard on Stylo. But not to make a copyright claim about it....

  • Sounds more like this guy ripped off Fzero for the snes gorrilaz rock and this guy blows balls true story i wrote.

  • It's similar, but who the fuck is this guy? It could definitely be a coincidence, but it isn't necessarily so.

  • ever heard of sampling?

  • seriously guys, just because thers a similir note being repeated does NOT meen its plagerism

  • I am a "real" musician and I don't think they are copied. Granted, they do actually have more similarities than just the "three notes" everyone is talking about. But not enough to constitute plagiarism. It just seem like Mr.Grant needs some publicity(which he now has)

  • dude it's pretty obvious they just took the riff from the beginning of the song and then slowed it down, ofcourse it's stolen but as long as they mention him on th credits it's no problem.

  • Ashlinn31 is right. It's not the actuall beat of Stylo or Time Warp, but that piano rythmn that comes on after 15 seconds in this song, and 40 seconds in Stylo that unfortunately sounds very simular

  • who ever said that Gorillaz copied this is wrong and they FAIL in life. good day

  • are you special? they slowed it down. play them side by side

  • @ersakoor2

Who cares they made it better stop crying.

  • @dabadon5 your an idiot they clearly took that synth line and didn't acknowledge Eddy Grant. So yes, they DID copy this and YOU fail in life. Good day.

  • @ersakoor2 Nope wrong, fail again, im sorry but there is just too much failure here. to much from you and from this song.

    Gorillaz rule !

  • @ersakoor2 sorry sir, but you have too much time on your hand to figure all that out. Why would they acknowledge Eddy Grant for ? he is clearly a lousy artist

  • @dabadon5 it took no time to figure it out. anyone with good ears can hear it. Eddy Grant is clearly good enough for Gorillaz to sample, so not only are your ears that messed up not to her it, but you are to close minded to even listen to anything new. that video was in the video related thing to my right. i bet your too slow and retarded to even read all this.

  • @ersakoor2

oh yes because your replys are so complicated................

You know what, i really dont care if they copied. Their music is much better, and i do have a opened mind to music, i listen to everything except country..................

So if you have a problems with the Gorrillaz steal from the hobo down the street, then go ahead, Gorrillaz win and Eddy Grant loses

  • This sounds nothing like Stylo..?

  • its not the whole song. if you listen to this 15sec on and check out Gorillaz song at 40secs on, that what Eddy grant if giving out about, it and definitely sounds the same.

  • both Stylo and Time Warp are great songs.

But i don't think Damon Albarn had the intention of "plague", it's a very simple riff, there's a ton of riffs that sounds like time warp/stylo/etc. By the end of the day, what's relevant it's the whole song, and i don't think that both have the same vibe

Stylo it's way more soulful/darky than the upbeat-fiesta of Time Warp.

  • i dont understand why eddy grant is so mad about that stylo story.

first this song really sounds like stylo but then its different.

eddy grant should calm down, damon albarn would never steal a song!

gorillaz are fucking awesome and the gorillaz are certainly not so pathetic that they would steal a song!

  • Too many numpties who know fuck all about music like to chat shit here, the fact is stylo is obviously influenced by this track. it's takes a musician to know the difference.

Also, because something is 'old' doesn't automatically make it shit (unless you are a retarded teeny kiddie who can't relate to anything not made in the last five minutes!)

  • dear sir or madam i feel that you are pulling off that all young people going through puberty is stereotypically saying that old things aren't as good as things made in the last new minute but if that is so then how come it takes yearsm to make a single album or song even?
