  • Where can you get this song?

  • @TheMegaGleek Get it in what form?

  • @smalin MP3? Well any way you can download

  • @TheMegaGleek I think there are web sites you can go to that will give you an MP3 for the audio of a YouTube video.

  • @smalin Thanks very much!

  • I can't stop laughing, I love this so much!! :)

  • why does it sound like they stop at 29 and 34, it's a peculiar poem. But if it was played with them all talking at the same time you wouldn't hear all the words not listed in the poem. Or they could list all the extra words. Either way, it's a fun song

  • @cultwho What "extra words" are you talking about?

  • @teknotoast whatever it is called when there are multiple voices singing but start singing at staggered time intervals so that they are not in sync. Through the timing of the words sung by each of the individual voices, there are lyrics that can be heard which none of the voices are actually singing

  • I'm making a version of this song for piccolo, oboe, alto clarinet, and bass clarinet. When I finish, I'll put it on youtube. : )

  • I knew a very different version of this, which started "The froggy he am a queer bird / He ain't got no tail almost hardly..."

  • For even more fun, try opening two windows at the same time. :)

  • @mafurock33 oh man that's roudy! thanks!

  • @mafurock33 if you open enough windows, you can hear almost every sound being sung all the time

  • We've now all been turned into sleeper assassins.

  • @yonigga223 so true :D

  • This is fucking insane.

  • Lowl this is one of my choir warm ups. But it's not as advanced as this one :D

  • I love this! I learned it to a different tune, "Blessed Be the Tie That Binds," when I was a little kid. But this is so fun and cool. It makes me very happy. Whose permission would I need to get to perform this with my band?

  • @RowanGolightly If I were you, I'd just go ahead and perform it.

  • @smalin Thanks, I think I will!

    You might enjoy noting that when I linked to this on my LiveJournal,another friend then sent it to the Paster of her UU church and the choir is going to perform it. *lol*

  • @RowanGolightly Maybe they'd be interested in performing my "Marvel Not, Joseph"?

  • @smalin I'll go look for it and send it to her; could possibly be something they'd like. Thanks for the recommendation.

  • I wish I had a frog to pet right now.

  • @Iemanonymous1  :-)

  • @Iemanonymous1 me too

  • this is AMAZING!!! :D

  • Yes the poem is by Ogden Nash

  • @Bram01568 Actually, it turns out it's not. I thought that at first (I don't remember why), and posted a video that said that, and it got quoted all over the web, and now people are quoting those mistakes back to me. Oy.

  • @smalin Sorry! I learn't this poem at school in the UK, and I recall it being in a book of odd poems attributed to Ogden Nash. I'm now 72, and I've believed this nonsense all my life! I've done a bit of research on the internet tonight, and I think you are right: it is a poem by 'anon'. But I will go through my bookshelf and see if I can find the origin of my mistake. I don't think it can be you, unless you are much older than me and published books of poems in the 1950's! Love your films!

  • @Bram01568 Yes, please do; I'm curious to know where the idea came from.

  • :'[]]

    epic...

  • This makes a disturbing amount of sense.

  • It is a little funny but it is beautiful and it reminds me of the past....

    beautiful...

  • This is beautiful. :D

  • I am absolutely in love with this round!

  • "when he sit he stand almost. when he walk he fly almost." is the part i can't stop hearing O.O

  • eeeehehehehe this is grate dood

  • Portal game?

  • wow , after watching this videos... my screen starts to move before my eyes haha! dont think its great for they eyes xD

  • @smalin: if a round can begin, it can certainly conclude. each line simply finishes when it finishes, leaving one voice to finish by itself. :D

  • haha! thats awesome! love it!

  • What a lovely piece! The overall effect reminds me very much of the theme from the movie Orlando with Tilda Swinton.

  • Can't get enough of it, very hard to write a good round like that though

  • i like very much how the first voice sings alone for some time and the other voices then come in one right after another... any thoughts on concluding it, perhaps?

  • If it concluded, it wouldn't be a round ...

  • Really? I always thought a round came "full circle"

  • it did... then it kept on keepin on

  • with a little correction:

    Lám a béka fura bogár:

    Ő, ha ül, hát áll (majdnem);

    Ő, ha megy hát száll (majdnem);

    Ő, ha szól, kiált (majdnem);

    Lám nincs is esze (alig);

    Lám nincs is farka, avagy (alig);

    Lám azon ül mi nincs is (alig).

    ILLED

  • @illed60 Very nice!

    I would either use "fura madár" or the figurative "csodabogár", "queer bird" or "queer fish" being also an expression for the very same thing. Still one extra silable.Leaving "what" I would make it:

    Csudabogár a béka:

    Mikor ül, ő áll (szinte);

    Mikor jár, ő száll (szinte);

    Mikor szól, kiált (szinte);

    Lám nincs is esze (alig);

    Lám nincs is farka, avagy

    (Alig) - lám azon ül, mi nincs is (alig).

  • Igen, de a "frog are" -ra jobban rímel, ha végén van: Lám a béka, csudabogár. A többi jobban tetszik Nálad. :)

  • its soposed to be "queer bird" because a frog is not a bird at al,l and this is a comparison of physical features and behaviours.

  • A hungarian translate by me:

    Lám a béka fura bogár:

    Ha ül, hát áll (majdnem);

    Ha megy hát száll (majdnem);

    Ha szól, kiált (majdnem);

    Nincs is esze (alig);

    Nincs is farka, vagy (alig);

    Azon ül mi nincs is (alig).

  • It's sounds like it's very old and from the north of England. A song that springs to mind when I hear this song is another called 'Dance To Thy Daddy/When The Boat Comes In' of which there are lots of different versions. Maybe the lyrics in a Frog Round are odd is because of mistranslation from old English to new.

  • Actually, there are lots of current dialects in Britain which retain grammar and vocabulary from older versions of English - some of which are or were well-known enough to be reproduced in pop culture. So, it's not necessarily very old at all.

    My guess is that it could be an urban sort of dialect, perhaps from near London, due to the way it tended to be employed for certain comedic purposes in 1900ish pop culture. 'Though northern England is also a good guess.

  • Oooo, I see what you mean, especially the quick parts!! Great comparison!

  • wow i never get tired of listening to this, no matter how many times!

  • me too- one of my favs on You Tube!

  • @hippojuice23

    Same thing to me!

  • ......... What a queer bird.... :( lol

  • Reminds me of Renaissance motets.

  • how did you do this?

  • Read the description

  • love it. this could be made into a poem.

    :-))

  • It's already a poem.

  • Ha!! I liked that :P

  • really repeatitive tho cant listen to the whole thing in one shoot

  • Don't worry; you're not required to.

  • LOL this is funny

  • this is the most fun thing since the petting zoo.

  • by the way Smalin, I heard somewhere that the poem is my Ogden Nash :-)

  • You're teasing me, right?

  • This is brilliant. Unpretentious, it's just simply genious. It's almost like it should sound awfull but actually sounds so blissfull. It brings back the happiest memories of my childhood to the point that my eyes water. Fantastic.

  • This song is so simple, and yet it seems to awaken something inside of me... I get choked up just hearing it.

  • it make me want to cry for some reason i do not know

  • i think im in love with this song... D:

  • Do you want to have its child?

    (Who knows, might turn out to be a prince.)

  • uhm.... maybe not that much! but its awesome :D

  • From whose side?

  • I think I've watched this at least 20 times in about 2 weeks.

  • i just love it! makes feel something, i cant name.

  • addicting :D

  • yay! so glad it's back! love it.

  • I find myself shaking myself back into reality when this ends. I get so lost in it.

  • Wow, what is it about this that makes it so amazing? My brain is telling me it's so simple, and yet I get goosebumps all over when I hear it. Incredible.

  • this is so cool. i love it

  • lmao

  • dis is shit man sort it aut

  • Please, never delete this again! I just "discovered" it and it is awesome, I'm sure I couldn't live without it.. Please, lend us an Mp3! :(

  • @psycho0dy I feel the same! Bravo!

  • beau!

  • its back! yay! what happened to it last time?

  • You got the rights to this song! It was removed for a long time! I missed it! This makes me happy

  • No, actually, I have not gotten rights yet; I'm still working on it; people who might license it to me have stopped answering my emails, and have not yet confirmed that they in fact own the rights. So it's up in the air, with YouTube in the meantime letting me have it up (after an explanation of the circumstances). We'll see.

  • Good work. It's fantastic that you're putting this stuff out here. It enriches lives :)

  • how are you doing this with an intrument or are people really singing?

    how odd but really funny

  • what really funny is that when you click the inside of the video box then press the right button, it only changes by a word or so.

  • so this is a canon? its funny :)

  • ahahha

    i loled again

    then i sent it to all my friends because this is pretty cool :)

    what did you do when you first herd this?

    SMILED RIGHT!

    right.

  • hahahhahahaa

    i loled

  • And then what did you do?

  • 5 ***** brilliant

  • how odd

  • a little to funny hehe, *scarch my head*

  • it was nice then eveything got fked upp lmao

  • its a bit garish

  • Excellent!! I love the use of the synthesized choir voices. You've built a simple nursery rhyme into something that Bach would have enjoyed. And Laurie Anderson.

  • omfg, now I can't hear anything other than the "Doggy Style Almost"

    >:{ I HATE YOU CH1PP0~! >:O

    lol ffs, that's gonna be stuck in my head. I'mma randomly be singing "doggy style almost" and my fam's gonna be thinking I've finally gone off the deep end. Or that I need to be neutered :[

  • OMFG is there a program for this??

  • OMFG did you read the FAQ??

  • lol

  • Frustrating, isn't it? :) Seriously though, well done. I had no idea that the poem didn't have an official writer, I've known it since I was a little kid. Cool beans.

  • lolololololololololololololol

  • hhhahahahhaha oh goodness you made me spit my coffee onto my keyboard...

  • nobody ever does eh? hehe

  • It's nice... too bad nobody knows who the composer is!

  • I think I could listen to this for hours (before abruptly dropping into insanity :)

  • mesmerising.

  • What a queer bird nudist0885 is...

  • Who composed this?

  • see the FAQ

  • I realy don't know what to say but this is absolutely brilliant!

  • Haha, that was possibly one of the most cheerful and entertaining songs I've heard in a while, i have a permanent grin etched into my face. Thanks for making my day.

  • Hahahaha wtf!

    Odd indeed.

    How did u do this?

  • see the Production Notes (under the FAQ)

  • Uhh... that was kind of strange.

    I'm definitely going to favor this =) Thanks for putting this up.

  • I HATE singing in the round.

    I HATE it.

    But I'll save this video so that I can watch all of the others without having to remember the website.

  • What a queer bird the frog are indeed...

  • the visial thingy is very entertaining :)

    the song is hilarious

  • Funny, nice, and the synthetic voice is interesting.

    But...

    Why is it "the frog ARE?"

    (I would have written "the frog IS", but I´m german ...^^)

  • It's supposed to be in a dialect; that was a popular thing to do when the poem was written (late 19th or early 20th century).

  • :O

    This is scary but hysterical at the same time!

    :P

  • You're on.

  • How much do you want to bet that somebody will tell you it's not a fugue?

  • ROFL, I should have smoked something before watching this xD

  • oh my gosh that is amazing

  • Addictive!!!

  • this made me smile :D

  • >glad it's back

    me too

  • Beautiful and catchy!

  • lol, this is kinda funny and nice

  • and if you want sheet music, use your ears like a big boy and write your own.

  • I distinctly hear "doggy style almost" throughout the video.

  • Now I hear it. Thanks a lot :/

    I think your mind has been stained by the darker regions of the internet.

  • great. just great!!!!

  • "Q: Where can I get the sheet music for this piece?

    A: uh ..."

    LOL I think I love you now....

  • It sounds like "Doggy style"

  • If you made this then you should have eased up on the auto tune. The transitions are way too abrupt.

  • The voices are synthetic (so there's no "auto-tune"), and I kept the abrupt transitions (produced by the singing synthesizer) the way they were intentionally, since I liked the way it sounded --- it seemed more "froggy."

  • sounds like glados from Portal 0.0

  • the only thing you have managed to break so far... is my - heart

  • The frog are a lie.

  • Yeah I know what you mean man that's some pretty queer bird!

  • This is my first time hearing this and I must say it's pretty good

  • Gosh, it's been years since I heard this! Thanks for posting! :D

  • yes! welcome back!

  • Yay! It's back! :o)

  • Its funny, and its kind of his style.

  • Ah, I found you, now.
