RT is an international news agency with a dedicated news network in the USA. This news coverage is for American subscribers and not Russian. Pull your head out of the sand, will ya?
wheeler is an expert on procurement. he worked in the GAO and on capitol hill for over 35 years. He has written a very critical book on defense procurement that was hailed by many in the 'small-warfare' / 4GW community. It's called the Wastrels of Defense.
Our experience in Iraq has told us otherwise. Our trending towards UAVs in Afghanistan/Pakistan has only been a small advancement in 2nd gen warfare, but sadly we are fighting a 4th generation war, and their use has won us nothing while Afghanistan and Pakistan destabilize further. You want to take some tinker toys equipped with missiles and a corrupt political system in AfPak over a robust human int network? Fine. But the results are preordained.
I will give you an example that might cause you to think;
The US pacific fleet outfitted the USS Seawolf and sent it to listen in to an underwater cable that led telephone lines in the pacific theater. It got some intell, but not much, and the repeated operation cost over 50M$ when the dollar meant something. The USSR sent 2M$ to a quatermaster for the pacific fleet, and they got complete crew rosters, food rosters and probable weapon loadouts for 3 years in a row.
What is it with this absurd network. they seem to be so anxious to undermine and discredit our incoming president.Hey Russia, this American president will not stand bye and pay the sins of the Bush Administration ,you mess with us on any level. we'll spank ya
lproth - are you just "sounding off" indiscriminately or what? Are "our best" still so bone-headedly executing foreign policy in hostile lands. Anyway, freedom of expression is supposedly our right, and you are entitled to its practice... Though I believe it says somewhere in the Good Book that " No man engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life ...". Has cynicism completely callused your soul and conscience? The blinded can't lead the blind, let alone the clear eyed!
The zionists (NEOCONS anyone?)are controlling a disproportionate amount of the US foreign policy and not only in the mid east. And they control the media and are anathema to true western people. And please, anyone who believes the Democratic party isn't part of the NWO and NeoCon controlled needs to wake up. Obama is an obvious puppet - worse than Bush. Get ready for more insane war. Our entire gov't is corrupt and illegitimate.
Interviewer should be someone other than this nice girl.
tsdon656565656 - thanks for a breath of fresh air, nice to know not everyone is sleep walking, None are so blind as those who refuse to see, cause the public fool system taught them they are free!
US defenses? Really? The best other countries can hope for is that the US military gets weak enough for us to not launch invasions, but we're adding ground troops under Obama and we're using Iraq as a training ground. People need to look at Iraq realistically. Only 4,000 US troops have died in about 7 years. That's a low number in any war-occupation.
Even if the US had no military we have 300 million+ citizens and the most guns in the world. Invasion would be impossible.
invasion is not necessary; all anyone would really need to do is use cruise missiles to destroy your refineries that are all near the coasts - the seven major ones. In fact because no new refineries have been added, the US with increased gasoline consumption is not capable of producing all of its needs. So level those refineries and bomb your ports; the US would collapse from within due to industrial dependency.
Many Americans told me that why Russian planes were in Venesuela. They were scarry about this. But what does America do ??? What do you expect from Russia, if you want to put up your shield. Against who???
60% of entire US military hardware is placed around bases in world...so USA doesn't have defence capability...they play offensive, and who plays offensive always loose at the end...
US ARMED FORCES deteriorating, while private military contractors (criminal mercenaries) get stronger. BUSH, CIA want the US ARMED forces to get smaller and weaker. US and the world must protect itself against the criminal terrorist mercenaries working for foreign interests.
Those private military contractors get their contracts from the US government. So they're pretty much a part of the United States military with different rules for themselves. Mercenaries aren't working for foreign interests- they're working to earn money for themselves. Eliminate congress's ability to throw money wherever it wants and those pmc's lose their funding.
Bowser2398 "An army with different rules for themselves getting their money from the US government" what a joke. I knew you were going to say that. Those are mercenaries & terrorists, man, and you know it. They are not governed by the US armed forces command, they work independently with foreign governments. Don't even try, those excuses are lame.
Xenzuva: Where's the joke? Companies like blackwater are on the payroll of the US congress. What excuses are you talking about? I didn't say they weren't mercenaries. Both the US military budget and the money that congress throws at PMC's is disgusting. We don't need to use taxpayer money at supporting PMC's- and we don't need so much taxpayer money in supporting the US military- both are unnecessary.
Military spending is military spending. Military contractors are not on Pentagon payroll, but Congress payroll, is what you're saying? My point is that bulk of US military spending is going to military contractors (private mercenaries) who have no binding obligation to the US constitution, and claim to be immune every other law, national or international... This is terrorism. Falluja was an excellent example. PMC's are epitome of tyranny in USA. Yet Congressmen have stocks in the corporations.
Congress, and the current Administration are the epitome of tyranny in the USA. PMC's and the US military are just another element of their tyranny. You single out PMC's for their atrocities but don't remember the US military's hand in the fallujah massacre. The president of our country didn't care about the US constituion, international law, or anything else either- so why are PMC's more of a threat? They both work hand in hand to rob the American people and kill foreigners.
What does a 23 year old know about the world?... Also you have the state department confused with the defense department. The military keeps our enemies fearful and at a distance. The state dept. worries about weather other nations like us or not. Besides what do you care if some guy in Egypt likes you or not.
Iproth: I didn't mention the defense department or the state department. Our foreign policy doesn't keep our enemies fearful and at a distance- it CREATES enemies and makes them plot revenge after some "collateral damage".
I wouldn't care if some guy liked me in Egypt or not- but when taxpayer money goes to give Egypt foreign or military aid, or to bomb a few houses in afghanistan- then that's when I have a problem with US foreign policy. Flaunting your age doesn't make you right by the way.
Bowser2398-We have enemies weather military acts or not. You did not understand my question. so let explain, I have been on 4 continents and a dozen countries in my 42 Years. Were have you been? Who is this Wheeler guy?
This guy is clueless about the Revolution in Military Affairs transformation going on with the US Military.
In a few years, US future combat systems will take the individual soldier or pilot out of the battlefield.
Remote controlled and autonomous unmanned vehicles will be our combatants.
No more flag-draped coffins.
We already have deployed unmanned vehicles like Predator. That's just the beginning.
