Afri-ware is my favorite bookstore. More than a bookstore, it is a steady, heartfelt drum, a soulful gathering of culture lovingly positioned to uplift, and inspire a community (a people) so in need of such a place that to see its doors close would be criminal. Cheers to my dear sister Nzingha Nommo who has held fast to this powerful vision of heritage this long! May her place (our place) survive ten generations and then ten more.
what happened to the friday evenings poetry session? Nice institute of the Oak Park community. FYI Would love if I was able to walk in buy a book and sit right there and read it after purchasing a cup of java/juice/ etc.... and soak in the tranquil enviroment.
We need to come out more and start supporting the black community. My wife and I will look forward to attending any bookclubs, poetry sessions.
