Googled a rage sentence after trying to download a game from steam at 8:30, to find I've been throttled to 250kbps. Fuck that SHIT!! Nobody on my street even uses their fucking internet, as if they need to disallow me internet.
Virgin media are fine i haven't had a problem with them yet! Its just because you brought the wrong connection. Try buying the 50meg. I get from 40-50 download speed and a 4.50 to 5 upload speed. I am paying around £30 a month for this but its worth it if you are a gamer.
@vBraaaaaD im sure they'll impress you, if they dont, just remember that you have 7 day cooling off period. keep that in mind for the first 3 days, if you dont get anything near that speed, then cancel on the 4th day EVEN if they tell you to wait. just dont bother, as they're trying to keep you in the contract. VM is called virgin because their service is impotent; but they still manage to fff...shaft people up the hollow poop snake. My 20 MB package speed is barely a dribble for almost 6 months. It mostly gets bad between 5 - 11 pm. Before it was great, but now I get a sudden precipitous drop in speed like they flicked the go-slow switch. Branson is holding us to ransom.

@DrJams I get 5-6mbps constantly with BT ADSL Broadband, whereas I used to get as little as 2mbps on Virgin's *20mbps* service. In fact, Virgin were so bad that I was more than willing to pay to have a new BT phone line to get away from them.

Another thing about Virgin is that their Broadband never seems to be as fast as they claim it is. The BT broadband I now have seems just as quick and more consistent speedwise than the 20mbps Virgin connection I had before, even though it's ADSL and not yet fibreoptic. When BT do go fibreoptic it will give Virgin something to think about. Their 40mbps service will have a 10mbps upload speed, compared to Virgin's 1.5mbps on their 50mbps service.
I've recently left Virgin Media after being a customer since 2003 when it was Telewest Broadband and switched everything to BT after they messed up once too often by disconnecting me even though I had paid. Cancelling hasn't stopped them from sending me an advance bill for a service I no longer have. Virgin Media - Avoid!
They have also been sending out faulty Netgear routers to new customers. This is to make sure they get money for "fault reporting" when people are kept on hold for years. They also lie in the call centre and whisper so people can't hear them and put the phone down! Terrible company.

@donnykaraoke My virgin HD box doesn't even have the HDMI connector, it's only SCART. So Virgin set the TV to COMPOSITE and the picture was terrible. After 4 visits they didn't know what to do. A neighbour switched it to RGB and it improved it.

Ahhh! the un-announced Traffic Management system. Virgin Media placed this policy into place without notifying its customers and my father went balistic with them down the phone (Was fun to watch). Apparently, the traffic management only applies to those on 10 Mbs and 20Mbs speeds. Those who are on 50 Mbs (Like my self) are unaffected. It is defently unfair to the customers as it does not give you what your paying for. I defently say no.

lol i was on the 10mb package, THE CHAPEST ON THEY HAVE FOR CABLE and i was getting ow speeds too, i switched to the 50mb service and get an avrage of 45mbps!, lol the 10mb package is for old people who dont download more than 1 gb a day (that includes videos, pictures and surfing the net) and as there are 6 people in my family we use about 10gb a day! so we upgraded and now it works purfectly, you want my advice go with the bottom option and your at the bottom of there minds so low speeds

i was with VM for 2yrs paying through the nose for a utter crap internet service oh and my phone line went dead on aprx 7-9 @ 2 dyas downtime or longer. Complained to ofcom 4 times. Stay clear of VM products you think your getting a good eal but dont. Virgin Media are great. Been with them since the old days, 13 years ago. Never had any problems. I have the 50Mbps with them and get around 46Mbps which is great! Today I received a free netbook off Virgin Media just for being loyal. Never had any trouble with them at all.
I know some people have problems with them but I've always had a great service with them . I pay for 50Mbps and I get 46Mbps which is really good. My neighbour pays Sky for 8Mbps and rarely even gets 2Mbps - yes he is using the latest equipment, including a 1Gbps switch which connects 3 of his computers all equipped with a 1000Mbps RJ45 port - all connected up using Cat6 patch cables...
What you pay for is an up to service. They don't have to match it. A wired system will not be any more quicker at loading your page unless the connection to the Internet is faster than a wireless system, a wireless system is usually 54 Mbps so. A a network cable at 100mbps will not alter Internet speed if your connection is slower than wireless. All a network cable will affect most computers, it just makes them process faster. Good for low RAM computers

Whoever made this video is an idiot and blatantly jumped to a conclusion in 2008 after Virgin announced that most users are LIVING in a slow lane, not will be put onto one!
They are basically saying that cable is the way forward and copper will become overloaded ... BT are laying fibre now and the broadband crunch has started (Google Broadband Crunch) so get your facts right haha

@DrJams I get 5-6mbps constantly with BT ADSL Broadband, whereas I used to get as little as 2mbps on Virgin's *20mbps* service. In fact, Virgin were so bad that I was more than willing to pay to have a new BT phone line to get away from them.

It's true. VM is best than all the other ISP's I've tried at least here.
I AM getting the 10MB I paid for, infact, sometimes it clips over it.
Guess I am pretty lucky, only had severe problems with WoW for one day and that's it.

Another thing about Virgin is that their Broadband never seems to be as fast as they claim it is. The BT broadband I now have seems just as quick and more consistent speedwise than the 20mbps Virgin connection I had before, even though it's ADSL and not yet fibreoptic. When BT do go fibreoptic it will give Virgin something to think about. Their 40mbps service will have a 10mbps upload speed, compared to Virgin's 1.5mbps on their 50mbps service.

I've recently left Virgin Media after being a customer since 2003 when it was Telewest Broadband and switched everything to BT after they messed up once too often by disconnecting me even though I had paid. Cancelling hasn't stopped them from sending me an advance bill for a service I no longer have. Virgin Media - Avoid!

They have also been sending out faulty Netgear routers to new customers. This is to make sure they get money for "fault reporting" when people are kept on hold for years. They also lie in the call centre and whisper so people can't hear them and put the phone down! Terrible company.

virgin hd is a joke, i have to pay £49 for the hd box, then £28 a month. The only channels i'll get are bbc 1 hd channel 4 hd and itv hd! because i'm on medium package. what is the point!!!!

@donnykaraoke My virgin HD box doesn't even have the HDMI connector, it's only SCART. So Virgin set the TV to COMPOSITE and the picture was terrible. After 4 visits they didn't know what to do. A neighbour switched it to RGB and it improved it.

They don't always tell you this over the phone after you make your changes AND they don't provide any formal writing to fully highlight this. They will probably also phone/contact you when this 12months is coming to an end to try and trick you into a tempting deal so they can put you into a new 12 month contract!

Ahhh! the un-announced Traffic Management system. Virgin Media placed this policy into place without notifying its customers and my father went balistic with them down the phone (Was fun to watch). Apparently, the traffic management only applies to those on 10 Mbs and 20Mbs speeds. Those who are on 50 Mbs (Like my self) are unaffected. It is defently unfair to the customers as it does not give you what your paying for. I defently say no.

@TheTVLicence it has been a year since u commented and i have exactly the same problem, i am promised 10 mbps internet and get 2 at the best of times, i can phone vm and momentarily get what i am promised but after a matter of minutes it is back down, i plan to leave VM and find a better provider, this is ridiculous. it is outrageous that even after a year to sort the problem out they have not even tried.

On March 3, 2006, NTL Inc merged with Telewest Global, Inc. The next day, they completed the aquisition of Virgin Mobile Holdings and entered into a long-term trade mark license agreement with Virgin Enterprises ltd. So apparently all the hardware and physical infrastructure is still the responsibility of Telewest/NTL, the Virgin name is merely a badge! R Branson is just a pretty face! Not!

It's not Virgin that's shit, it's the state the company was left in by telewest. phone virgin mobile & you'll find the customer service is very good. Since rebranding took place they have brought the company on leaps & bounds, rome wasn't built in a day.

lol i was on the 10mb package, THE CHAPEST ON THEY HAVE FOR CABLE and i was getting ow speeds too, i switched to the 50mb service and get an avrage of 45mbps!, lol the 10mb package is for old people who dont download more than 1 gb a day (that includes videos, pictures and surfing the net) and as there are 6 people in my family we use about 10gb a day! so we upgraded and now it works purfectly, you want my advice go with the bottom option and your at the bottom of there minds so low speeds

i was with VM for 2yrs paying through the nose for a utter crap internet service oh and my phone line went dead on aprx 7-9 @ 2 dyas downtime or longer. Complained to ofcom 4 times. Stay clear of VM products you think your getting a good eal but dont. Now im with O2 on 8mbit adsl but its better than my old 20meg connection through VM and no throttling at stupid times - Thanks 02! will never go back to VM even if 50M internet was just £10 forget that awful company.

Virgin Media are great. Been with them since the old days, 13 years ago. Never had any problems. I have the 50Mbps with them and get around 46Mbps which is great! Today I received a free netbook off Virgin Media just for being loyal. Never had any trouble with them at all.

I know some people have problems with them but I've always had a great service with them . I pay for 50Mbps and I get 46Mbps which is really good. My neighbour pays Sky for 8Mbps and rarely even gets 2Mbps - yes he is using the latest equipment, including a 1Gbps switch which connects 3 of his computers all equipped with a 1000Mbps RJ45 port - all connected up using Cat6 patch cables...

What you pay for is an up to service. They don't have to match it. A wired system will not be any more quicker at loading your page unless the connection to the Internet is faster than a wireless system, a wireless system is usually 54 Mbps so. A a network cable at 100mbps will not alter Internet speed if your connection is slower than wireless. All a network cable will affect most computers, it just makes them process faster. Good for low RAM computers

Yeah I know I pay for an up-to service. I pay for 50Mbps and get about 46Mbps which is better than what I thought I would get. No one gets the speed they pay for, no matter what ISP, Virgin Media (in my opinion) offer the best though as I always get very close to the speed I pay for. The only bad thing about Virgin Media is their fair usage policy (even though almost every ISP has one) there are work arounds for this though.

virgin media is taking over the internet in 2012..youll have to pay 39 bucks for virgin media just for myspace..google.yahoo..facebook..twitter...and when u want a small not so well know website u have to pay even more for each website u go on..some contracts of google yahoo..ect have all ready been signed.. if u want to go on a site pay virgin money then the site will need to charge u money becuase of virgin charges

Now im free my contract has been terminated due to shit services VM tried to makeme pay i asked them form a copy of fault and that I was sending to ofcom to complain. So now im getting a Post Office Landline Cheaper Than BT and going on 02 UK best voted ISP True Unlimited Service its like getting internet for the first. VM i will never go back again liars
