What I don't get is why the Vasari thought that while running from some gigantic, ominous force that ate their empire, they should engage in war with two more gigantic ominous forces. LOL they should've just allied with the TEC and wiped out the Advent.

@BbyBoi86 it's dificult in the beginning, but as long as you defend your planets well and make sure you have all the shield/armor/weapon tech and all the mining tech, also make sure that you have a trade port at every planet.

@AzariahKyras yeah i ntice the mining income ncrease with ports but i always ed up tryin to leave enough space to put one in my home planet n that wut slows me down then messes it up by the time i try n go conquer other plannets they already taken lol

@BbyBoi86 what I usualy do is build 3 militairy research labs, 1 mothership class capital ship (like the Akkan and Progenitor) do some militairy research (shields and weapons) then colonize some untaken asteroids and there I build some civil research labs, then I go and research volcanic and ice colonization, in the mean time I build some light frigates and some more cap ships (purely battleships with the most laser or beam damage) and repeat :P

Pirates are WAY overpowered. At later stages their weapons are more powerful and their hulls get harder and harder to penetrate. No way a pirate heavy cruiser ship should have heavier firepower than a capital ship. Pirates exist to loot, not obliterate folks.

Get the v1.2 update. Pirates aren't broken anymore. They do more economic disruption stuff instead, and have a leveling cap. Pirates also assault with pre-set fleets based on the current threat level. The same goes for players giving them missions. At the highest threat levels, they'll send smaller fleets if the bounty isn't high enough. Plus, if you play against the AI, they'll bid on each now too, based on who seems the most threatening.

And later this year, they'll seek Rebellion. You can decide to pick the Loyalist or Rebel side, which shifts the technologies available to you. They're also throwing in new Titan ships.

it does . it balances many aspects of the game . The pirates get mega hard to kill proportioned to time elapsed in game and many more . You can be an evil leader and play vs 3 having 2 at peace and 1 at war so you can play dirty :)

@nycbmw89 Oh yeah, the Pirates get massive fleets in their bases. You'd need massive fleets to take them out there. Probably easier to just slam it with Novalith cannon shots, or use the Vasari superweapon to disable them and start tearing into them.

@nycbmw89 honestly pirates are way to strong. and if you send them on a mission paying lets say 15 + k for the job the guys planets is most probebly done for unless he sends a large fleet to counter it. since one pirate has 6000 k hull and atack higher then a battleship
