  • So many talentless bands and singers have come and gone and made fortunes off of their unremarkable skills......then you have Gentle Giant (and now Three Friends) who should be retired to their individual mansions working on their Seventieth album but NOOOOOOOOOO. It's enough to kirk out and go on a killing spree over the injustice of that!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Timeless, incredible, remarkable, amazing music.....one cannot avoid the cliches when discussing this original band and the brilliant music they createdll

  • OH MY GOD - This is my favorite song from Acquiring the Taste. Thanks so much for uploading this. What a find, and what a delight to see this amazing material revisited!!

  • Oh, no, the world's sexiest drummer isn't here!

  • i will smoke a doobie now

  • best riff ever, goosebumbs all over :)

  • When I was growing up, there were three great key boardist. Keith Emerson, Rick Wakeman, and Kerry Minnear. Not too many people knew about Kerry which was one of the cool things about him.

  • the one on the left!

  • Its nice to see Malcolm Mortimer playing GG music again I always loved his drumming on three friends, by the way which guitarist is Gary Green?

  • @Adamboms The balding guy- a guitar genius!!

  • Awesome version!!!!

  • @ 2:29: "...s'guys fuckin' awesome!"

  • @missinformationage Can't blame him for saying that. That truly was awesome.

  • You left kerry out of the vid? Jezus,he is a genius

  • @JeffELOLynne

he's there on the right, not a lot but he's there more than he is now.

  • I can't believe they pulled off the "out-there" part at 2:05. That's sick! WOW!

  • Gentle Giant... the originators of math rock. thanks for posting this.

  • you have to come to michigan!

  • I prefer this guys voice to Dereks..this guy

    1 sings in tune

    2, has a greater range

    3 better tone ...

  • @nylonsteel I presume you are being ironic?

  • needs fuckin Ray Shulman, whhohohoaoaoaaoa, don´t nook or imagination bro whohohohohohaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • Absolutely fantastic - how did I miss this gig? Only waited 35 years!

  • Shut up and let em play --bloody brilliant with or without Minnear

  • Don't know what the fuss below is all about, but this was once again, with or without Derek, Ray, and Phil, absolutely brilliant!

  • I don't know the vocalist, but I'm sure that he sounds ten times better than Mr. A & R Guy Derek Shulman would sound here, today, seriously, right now...sounds better than the studio version actually.

  • @2bmusicsongs;

    ...Twat..

  • The only time I'm wasting is responding to you...

  • May be you are gay. Get out freak fan.

  • what could possibly be dangerous playing other peoples music? Please do not lose sight of the fact that a major portion of Gentle Giant music was written by Kerry Minnear, who is right there on the video that you are choosing to dis. It is you that sounds ridiculous, the guy on the vocals is the singer with 10cc and to call him a joke, I can only assume that it is you that is the amateur and doesn't have a clue about music in general

  • In this case, please, don't try to play the classic Giant's songs! Make some original stuff. This group is bizarre, a cover band with the remains of the original group. It's the same as Focus without Akkerman, Genesis without Gabriel, Credence without Fogerty...I understand they need to make some money.

  • it's all about the music! If you believe that dying is preferable to hearing the music played by others, then go ahead and expire!

  • @adap2it no kidding!! The main vocals is a little weak but the instruments MORE than make up for it. Back up vocals are awesome

  • Oh, please let me die with the memory of the original group. There is no Gentle Giant without the Shulmans. Besides, forget about these digital instruments...

  • The title says "Gentle Giant music". I dont see anything that says this is Gentle Giant

  • Que vengan a Sudamérica. Los esperamos.

  • 2:58 -> one of the heaviest riffs ever written ;)

  • Yes it is.They had alot of very grooy doom riffs

  • I miss Gary Green green boots

  • just like an old friend [or three] coming to visit...glorious!!!!

  • Amazing...please get Kerry back in the band and come to Holland!

  • Off Acquiring The Taste 1971

  • CA c'est de la musique!

  • this was brilliant

  • Please come to San Francisco!!!!!!

  • amazing solo

    GG 4ever

  • That's Andy Williams on 335.

  • Nearfest!!!!!!!!!! Yes!

  • It warms my soul.

  • It's incredible the evolution that Malcolm Mortimore got in his drumming.

I didn't like very much his work on the album "Three Friends", but now with the band of the same name he really smokes.

Keep up the good work, Malcolm!

  • .....epic

  • They MUST come to NYC!!!

    I Demand it!

Have to see these guys again. Sounding great!

    Thanks adap2it

  • After performing at the PMFM, Three Friends are going to Japan and Germany!!

  • One of my favorite songs from "Aquiring the Taste" I always loved the wha-wha solo Gary did. Wish he would have played a little longer on this. Who is the guitar player on the ES 355? He's really good also

  • This band has a potential worldwide success. They cannot undervaluate themselves! They should be playing in the best places in the world. The World needs them!! Long Live the Gentle Giant!

  • Why Not? :o)

Giant fans cannot ask for more.

Thanks for posting these. More please!!!!!

  • The more of this stuff I hear, the more I keep thinking "it just does NOT get any better".

God, these guys are as good (maybe BETTER) than ever. I could not be more excited about a reunion. This is NOT nostalgia...it's a great, vital band playing music that deserves to live on.

See these guys at all costs. Imagne how dumb you'd feel if you'd had the chance to see Chopin in person and passed it up. THAT is how important I think this is!

  • Please if someone could upload Peel The Paint...

  • it's like watching paint dry...

  • why? were there problems with sound? :P

  • Three Friends will be playing in Montreal on sept 13th at the FMPM

  • ooops!!!!! I meant Shoreham, not Horeham. oo er missus!!!

  • they are awesome. I was at horeham. best gig Ive ever been to

  • Once Mick learns GG's lyrics perfectly, he'll be able to move around the stage more freely. Good expression, though. A new voice does more justice to a universal band.

  • Please upload someone share some excerpts from Goteborg!

  • They should do "Wreck."

  • This is just... this is a revamped GG. I would love it (the word is not enough though) if they could compose knew pieces.

  • They are intending to write new stuff, according to Malcolm Mortimore.

  • AMAZING!!!!

  • I join the shout!

  • Awesome Dave!

    Dan

  • I keep playing it over & over, still can't believe what I'm hearing (& seeing)

    DaveSr

  • The friends are smokin' hot, even after just a little rehearsal. Wish I'd been there. Gary still has amazing chops, and I love watching Malcolm. Can't wait to hear new material. Thanks for posting, Dave!
