The swing of the song was a little out, a lot of people like that, but I find controlling it is important even when your doing a pretty loose track.

That being said Ive seen your videos and your very good and recoding parts and playing very swung while still retaining the rhythm and groove. I would say this is the strongest aspect of your stuff, not even your sampling, but your grooves and drums are very tight bro.

Hey knock I have question about the software? Is it true that when you first install it that it might make the CPU crash. When I get machince should Install it on external drive or should I be alright I have a relatively new Mac

@Blizzard0609 I can only speak for myself... I have NEVER had install problems with maschine.. I dont even have a new mac...I have an older Imac (intel core duo) which is basically old school.now. Just follow the steps when installing and you should be good.

when you have found your samples and are ready to record the pad pattern, how do you know what tempo to set the metronome to?

I am just starting out on maschine now and have my sample but cant seem to find the tempo of it, tapping it out with the tap tempo button seems to vary up to 2-3 bpms every time i tap it out, so is not accurate enough...is there another way to find it?

if anyone can help with those2questions would be much appreciated!

The strings at the end sound a bit like either Dangermouse or Batfink. UK cartoons so not sure if you got them over there. But that aside you rock with the samples and maschine. @335kd have a play with "High Pass Filters". Everything below the cutoff frequency gets cut, you can use them to take out the kick drum. Have fun!

@JASONvsBOSCO what up Jason (or Bosco) I do this a lot off camera... sometimes if falls on a WEAK spot on the record. I was fortunate that this one dropped where it did. Made it easier to do at least an ok joint in the 7 minutes. You can always do this... I practice A LOT with samples. Thats why I hear things in my head while the record is sampling. errr.. isn't using all preset drums and preset bass cheating? :P I thought you were going to pull out drums, bass and everything from the vinyl. You could have slowed down some of that sample to get some kicks, snares and hats out of it, and getting bass is easy with filters and resonance. I aint hatin though.. Nice vid.

@subclonk LOL@Cheating !! Well..i guess you could call it that. I guess i need to make my rules clear. This is mostelyt about getting a good sample pattern I guess. Thats actually a good idea to make EVERYTHING from the needle drop. I would give myself at least 10 minutes though..lol. The only down side is if it drops on a record part without drums im in trouble. True about the bass.. I am a filterholic.. Thanks for watching Bro !

A series of changes while creating a track. Like most producers during the process you test things that work and dont work. I post things on video DURING the process so at times you will indeed see many "fails" from me..lol

@rockhills yeah man..its good exercise for getting past those blocks. Setting a time on what I do is just so I will not have time to get too technical. The creative process can get blocked sometimes with all the technology we now have. I am guilty of this...I think too much sometimes... but these exercises are fun to me...even if I come up with some BS .
