Billy Bauer...you don't hear his name come up when people talk jazz guitar....but usut try to play those lines...thumb player am I...so it's even worse to think about.

This track tuned me to real jazz back in the 1950s. This is probably the most amazing Konitz solo I know. I went on to postbop, funk soul and nu bossa; yet this track makes very sweet memories.

Billy Bauer: In my opinion, the greatest jazz guitarist to record between the death of Charlie Christian and the rise of Kenny Burrell, Jim Hall, and Wes Montgomery (or, from 1942-1956). I remember distinctly first hearing these recordings in 1998 at the age of 19. They were a revelation then, and remain so. Bauer's voicings and lines are INCREDIBLY INVENTIVE AND FRESH. He remains an innovative model in the face of so many Wes clones (& I LOVE WES).

こうやって聴くとギターが入ったユニゾンてすごくいい音ですね。
シアリング・サウンドというのは、こういった沢山の下地があって生まれたものなんですね。 nonki

ギターがフロントに加わったユニゾンはかなり昔からあったのでしょうが、より大きな可能性が生まれたのはベニー・グッドマンのコンボにチャーリー・クリスチャンが加わってからなのでしょうね。
ギターに電気をつけるようになったハード面の変化も作用してるのかも知れませんね。
