I would say it took more courage to be fast then with modern racing, which makes it more exiting. But I for one will take cars "controlled by computers" over watching drivers burning to death on TV in a heartbeat.
And as EJ25RUN said, TC has been gone for a few years now and launch control was banned in 08, the only stuff that's really computer controlled these days are the engines and wheel displays, both of which drivers had no control over in those days anyway, not so different after all.
@monsterrocks1 well always remember that They are never contolled by computers... and traction control is gone now...has been for some years now. they may appear faster but they are not really. they did have bigger motors but the corner speed cant compare with todays f1
