@ossa1987 erm, yes they can...tyres are made of rubber which is made of oil, and if they get too hot, they melt, then if the liquid gets too hot, like anything else, it combusts, here it WAS oil because you could see if spurt out, if it was the tyres it would be dripping flames after haha

I think your right, it sounded like it was popping, possibly rich mixture, there is a lot of fuel flowing through a motor like that, on top of lot of heat from the rear tires.

yeah, you guys are correct, he hit the rev limiter which pumped out raw fuel, which then back fired and lit the raw fuel and rubber. I was within 20 feet of it and could feel the heat on my face while filming. It was fun

So a few years back in the Nascar Craftsman truck series when one of the Bodine brothers(Todd I think) tires started on fire during his victory burnout, that was fake?? Mythbusters used a street car not a 800HP or more car. Dont believe eveything you see on TV :)

all drag cars have to do a burn out to get the tires heated but not this long of one of course but there equipped with a line lock which turns off the back brakes enabling a car to do this very easily. it really isn't as hard as these vids make it look
