The Macbook Air is not worth buying at this moment in time. It feels cheap, as if the hinge could snap easily, but more than that it's slow! I hear of it having problem running 1080p! Also no disk drive? FAIL! What if I'm on a plane with limited space? Would I have to hold the disk drive throughout the entire movie? Also, only 2GB of ram? All the specs to me on this device suggest that it's just a netbook with a bigger screen. The Macbook Pro is actually cheaper. Apple fail.

i could spend £1400 on a macbook pro with an intel i5 processor. i could spend £700 on a dell inspiron with an intel i7 processor, which is twice as fast.. I also get a larger harddrive, better graphics card etc. etc. I have used alot of macs previously, and there ok, but i can't see the common sense of buying one, they are all market no bang.

No actually the macbook pro 13 inch (base specs) is not slow at all. neither would the macbook air if you simply use it for internet browsing and "Life" stuff (ie music, movies, photos)

I use my computer for both life stuff and work which is involves in digital media/graphics . The macbook AIR would be slow for say like Adobe after effects or final cut pro.

i think performance on mac book pro 13 inch would be better tho. 2.26GHz vs 2.13GHz (top of the line air). not by far tho

No, its not. Well at least in many ways. One way is the entire GUI of MAC now runs on GPU, but only the windowing system runs on GPU on the PC/Vista/Windows 7. You can see this by the non-tearing of resizing browser window on a MAC, while PC VISTA it uses 100% CPU and tears and lags, even on a super-fast Core 2 intel CPU. It's quite amazing how MICROSOFT has been able to slow down these amazing intel cpus that does one 128bit SSE extention operation in one go.

Get a core I7 or a Amd Phenom II X4 965, BEAST processor's and the 965 runs amazing on Windows7, no hiccups skips jerks or anything... Windows 7 is a big step in the right direction for Microsoft since XP though.

Windows 7 and a WDDM 2.0 capable GPU is supposedly having more GUI stuff run on the GPU but I don't know how well that works. Direct2D is interesting, but until now MAC really is better on many things. But I really like search on my start menu and games so I prefer PC and Windows 7 :P
