@KraZeeGuy3 If he can fit his big butt in one of Roger Penske's cars, he could whip anybody and everybody next year and at least get halfway to the $20 million Bruton Smith has put up.
I really want tony to run the Indy 500 again, maybe he can hook up with Roger Penske and get something happening? That would be the greatest accomplishment of his career.
I'm just big on respecting drivers and not stooping down to the name-calling level (unless the driver in question is Kurt Busch, then its all good ;)) and this and that. Maybe that's just me.
As for Junior, I used to think that, but his father never woulda let him in a stock car if he couldn't handle it. I've never been an Earnhardt fan, but I respect him as a pretty good racer, just not one of the best.
I love this song! It makes me feel proud to live in Indiana! I feel very special to know, that the Indianapolis 500 goes on here, and this song is just magical. I am proud to be a hoosier!
Hi, can anybody tell me where I can download the song on it's own. Travel from Ireland to the 500 every year and can't get this recording on CD anywhere. Any help appreciated .......
Like I said in a comment on the one I did for last year's win. I love the 500 and Jim singing the song is my favorite part of prerace.
Stewart is my hero as well as a Hoosier. I figure the song is for all Hoosiers, I'm from Georgia, so I don't know for certain. He won the race while "Back Home Again in Indiana" so I thought the song fit and used my favorite version.
Would a silent film style one set to Pete Fountain's version make you happier? Sheesh.
where did you get the audio of Jim Nabors singing. I have been looking for it but it seems that the only places I can find it are on this video and the last sunday in may
The Brickyard has special meanings to me,my first race 1956 500 my first race. But along with Tony's win he grew down the street from my cousins in Columbus. The Signed Picture he gave my mom for her last birthday. But the best was asking my wife to marry me on the yard of brick. I also have the prvilege of being an owner of an orginal brick. Ed & Carla
As a transplanted Hoosier, hearing this song always brings tears to my eyes. We had to learn this song in 4th grade, so I sing it with him. Thanks so much for posting this!!
Since IMS already has the tradition of Mari Hulman George saying "Gentleman Start Your Engines"(as she does for the 500), maybe Tony can convince Jim Nabors to sing his traditional song at the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard come next year.
Jim missed the 500 this year, I'm afraid his time may be near sadly. The Purdue marching band playing the song and the fans singing along would be a great tribute to the speedway and to Jim if and when he does pass on.
Yeah it just wasn't the same this year. The Speedway had arranged for a video to be played before Purdue was to play, but technical diffuculties prevented that from happening. The IMS then posted the video on their website.
I love this song so much! I am a born Hoosier from Indy...this always makes me feel so warm and fuzzy to hear Jim Nabors sing....tell me, if you can, did he ever release/record this?! Can it be bought on a cd?! 'Cause I sure am having trouble trying to find it!! Thankx loads for using the song in this clip...I come here to hear it quite often...*smile*
I found it on Limewire and cut the intro out of it. If you would want me to send the clip I used, let me know on AIM (arosser20ts) and I'll be more than happy to send it.
Forgot to mention, Saw the end of the Busch race at Dega yesterday and Stewart's and Labonte's battle. Labonte won, but what Stewart did coming up to Labonte's victory party and hugging and laughing with him was pure class. I ran at Dega last March and got to 184 mph. What these guys can do going 192, 193 mph bumper to bumper is awesome.
Tony's cool, but that song is not played before the start of the Brickyard 400. It is played before the start of the Indianapolis 500, a race Tony has never won. Tony knows this. Tony knows what Indy means. Thought you'd like to know...
Respectfully, do you think I DON'T know that? I used that song because Tony was "Back Home Again in Indiana." If he was from Illinois or Texas or something, I wouldn't have used it.
Tony is NOT an asshole!! He has his own opinions and he isnt afraid to speak them!! The only people that dont like him, like you for example, are most likely just jealous, sooooo!!
@minus8223 There we go. Haha.
