  • Thats cool you did it ! Good for you.. hope you dont mind but i couldnt watch after a certain point i have a weak stomach. :(

  • ok i don't understand...what exaclty are you guys doing here? and what is all that painting thing you talk about? I've never heard about it! I guess you do learn something new everyday! now I'm curious

  • WHAT R U DOING???

  • Yes you can eat it, it's extremely healthy.

  • I just wanted to say whilst watching this video, fetal side down! fetal side down!

  • haha

  • @xxxjoelpolexxx

I just did prints and and currently dryng the placenta in my oven to put into capsules.

  • mines still in my freezer. did u use color 4 ur prints? we never did, we put it in the freezer 4 another day, which that 'another day' has yet to happen. is it still good to do prints w/ after 6 1/2 months?

  • @xxxjoelpolexxx

We just used 'natures dye' for the prints (blood) and water colour paper.

6 1/2 months is fine for prints! I just put a mama placenta n the oven to encapsulate for medicinal uses at 6 months (but it was in a deep freeze, not a regular freezer). 2-3 months in a regular freezer is fine for ingesting.

  • Yah we used the blood 4 the only 1 we did, but i'd like 2 use brown/green 4 another 1.

  • @xxxjoelpolexxx

I would use tempra paints (like kids paints) to you can try a few diff colours until you get the look you'd like. Adding more water to thin it out to pick up the lines.

You could also use ink, though more expensive, has very pretty results.

  • Ha! That's awesome! How creative.

  • that is ross!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • what is all this going on with the placenta

  • Okay, I like the finished product, but what do you do to protect the painting, and afterwards, what do you do with the placenta? Does it have a foul smell to the painting or during the process...

  • During the process it just smells like blood, b/c it is, very bloody. Neither of us can really tolerate the smell w/ out wanting to choke, lol but it still meant a lot to me to do it so I just hurried up and held my breath. There are a few ways you can protect it as well, depends on the material you use and/or if you use paint.

It did not smell after wards though... the placenta u can eat, send it off to be made into prenatals, or simply throw it away.

  • eew i thought damien hirst was warped

  • you guys should cook it..i heard its like new trand...and they make pillsput of it as well.

  • at 7:06 that was so cute

  • Congratulations on your son

  • did you do the paint one?

  • I can understand the idea... but are you going to hang this up somewhere?

  • I've never see or even heard of doing that before. What's the purpose?

  • i am an l&d nurse in a hospital...we keep our placentas for 7 days before discarding if someone wants to take theirs home. the only reason you would not be able to get it is if you or baby had an infection etc and it needed to go to lab for further testing.

  • OMG, I don't visit the site for a while and you've already had your son!!!!!!!!!! Congrats to the most beautiful mother!

  • thats cool your husband helped and wasn't grossed out by it, some guys wouldnt go near it let alone touch it!!! its really interesting though, i've never seen a placenta close up

  • me either very cool though

  • thats awesome...i wish i could have done something like that....unfortunately i have to have c-sections with all my births...so its always the hospital route for me...boooo...LOL

  • You can still ask them for the placenta. The only way they wont give it to you is if the baby has an infection and further testing needs to be done. Ask your OBGYN/Surgeon for it...tell your nurse you watn to do a placenta painting with it.

  • OMG YOU ALREADY GAVE BIRTH!!! I'VE BEEN WAITING TO SEEEEEE!!!

    noooo im so sad! :[

    Congrats

  • Congrats!! Hope the labour & birth went to plan. Can't wait to see your little guy, hope you are all doing well.

Wow really interesting to see the placenta, can't believe one of those is currently in me! :)

  • Home..It's ur placenta I don't see how they could refuse u of it's ownership. lol U grew it, not them.

  • I think it looks awesome, you guys work so well together. Best wishes to you ALL, Congrats on your New Addition.

  • wow! that's really interesting! :)

  • I hope your doing well.

  • Lucy, don't worry about getting up a video about your delivery. YOU'RE the one who had the baby, after all! You definitely deserve some time off from making videos. You'll get it up when you get it up.

  • Whoever gave you a thumbs down whatever what you said was true. The last thing you'd want to worry about is getting a video up.

  • smooth side is his side and the rough side is momma's side ic an't remember what they called each side in nursing school except for the above info

  • Cool! That came out so good. I asked them to hold up Grace's placenta so I could see it and I was shocked at how big those things are. lol

  • btw yall did a wonderful job on this great team work Lucy!!

  • who else was at your house when this video was made u could hear someone in the background LOL!!!!!!!!

  • My Mother in Law

  • oh ok i was like ok i know that cant be u or Joel b/c yall r so close to the camera sorry to ask something so silly like that lol!!

  • oh wait...i just read the descri[tion box....lol nvm=P

  • hey lucy:) hope yall are all well:)

  • This is so cool! congradulations on the new little one!! its so exciting! I have always loved your videos and found myself checking up on your page for new updates! Im so happy for you and your family! Im 10 weeks pregnant and cannot wait to experience the miracle of birth although my plans for a home birth were squashed by friends and family! I still plan on having a natural delivery!

  • There is no way that I could've done this! Bravo to you guys! The placenta itself looks great....it's amazing...

  • wow i,ve never ever seen that before but it,s pretty cool. but your ver ybrace my hubby would have run a mile. hope your all well

  • The print came out neat but I don't think I'd ever have the stomach to do something like that. :P

  • haha this is a good vid. something good to show to them when they grow up hehe. I hope your children are getting along brilliant, jacelyn is so cute!!!!

    love you x

  • Wow! That's cool, but honestly I don't think I could do that myself. I have a weak stomach! lol. :) And when was your baby born?? I hope he's doing well! :)

  • Oh my gosh that came out great!! Congrats on Kacen :) I cant wait to see him and I LOVE that name too! Glad to hear you all are doing well!

  • Comment removed

  • Lucy the print look fine dear

  • Now that is pretty cool! I wasn't sure what the finished product was gonna look like....But it looks awesome!

  • wow!!! lol thanks for showing even though its something im sure is very personal to you... very interesting...never heard of this before

  • That has got to be one of the weirdest things I ever saw! Not the placenta itself but the 'print'.

  • Sorry Lucy but this is a tad gross, interesting but kinda gross lol. Oh and Im not sure if I would be able to use that pan again! :P It turned out kinda of neat, not what I expected but a good way to remember this pregnancy and birth, like you could forget though right? lol

Joel's "placenta tree thingy" was cute :) You two are cute together :).

    Congratulations again!!

  • Joel is so brave!!! lol, my husband would be gagging and hiding in the other room (-:

Hope all is going well for you and your new family!

  • It wasn't that bad for either one of us as for sight goes, it was the smell that made us both gag... We're both nurses, but there was SO MUCH blood that the smell was just overwhelming. I've determined I just can NOT stand the smell of blood. GAG!

  • I wish I could watch this all the way through....after the first image that was it! Congratulations!! xxxx

  • Congrats Lucy, Joel & Jacelyn on the newest family member :)

The placenta blood print came out well. I think I watched your "faved" placenta print youtube vid and they layed it down and put the canvas on top of it to do the print. If you do that w/ the paint print you should be able to avoid any finger prints markings :) Can't wait to see your update!

  • Damn I'm still trying to find a boyfriend and people are popping out the babies, married, engaged.

  • Finally the son was born and wouldn't be popping out till June. Can't wait to see him and hear about the update, the labor and delivery story. I wanna know what the birth weight, the date of the birth was. Here come the sleepless nights, messy house, no showers etc. Esther had her son Jude at the beginning of May. She's also on this website. Is he breast feeding? sleeping patterns? LOL no disagreeing you two it's only a placenta.

  • Lucy, thats one good looking placenta! kinda looks like a sting ray!

  • Some people eat their baby's placenta. Cook it up. It looks like a brain.

I wanna know what the birth weight was, the date of the birth. Here come the sleepless nights, messy house, no showers etc. Esther had her son Jude at the beginning of May. She's also on You Tube. Is he breast feeding? sleeping patterns? LOL no disagreeing now you two married parents it's just a placenta.

  • OMG, so you've had your baby! UPDATE! I didn't realize! Btw, the placenta thing made me a little sick at my stomach lol. Uck.

  • Thanks for sharing this! Thats cool

  • WOW! Thats amazing how big it is!!! Its crazy to imagine that that AND a baby all fits inside a women!!!

It kind of looks like a brain doesnt it?

Do you have to do anything to it to make sure it doesnt go rancid or anything? Like spray lacquer (sp?) over it? Varnish or whatever...

  • Mine was TWICE that size w/ Jacelyn... I dunno what a "normal" size is, but Kacen's was REALLY small in comparison to hers.

  • Well i didnt get to see mine- emergency C and all that, wasnt really thinkin bout that at the time!!! LOL But i definately want to see and get pics of the next one...

So, do you have to do anything to the print to make sure it doesnt go bad? Does it smell?

Hope the colour one goes really well :)

  • How awesome !!

    Thanks for posting this !!

The placenta is so fascinating !

  • I agree, i never really looked at mine either! That is a cool idea tho with the print! CONGRATS to you both, he is so cute! I can't wait to see more pics!

  • Wow that's crazy! Fascinating!

  • KInda cool. Are we going to find out the name on Tuesday as well >

  • First I want to say congrats on your new son. Then I think your suppose to lay the placenta down ... meaty side down and then lay the paper on top of it softly so that you can see the "tree branches" so the weight of the placenta doesn't make it just look like a "blob print" It came out alright though.

  • Yah thats why we did as the practice one, lol. I want the painted one to come out perfect, so I am hoping to get lots of advice through this video! I REALLY don't want to screw up the next one, ha. But it's kind of hard to know what ur doing when it's the first time for everything when it comes to a placenta, ha

  • OH no don't get me wrong the first try came out GREAT. I wouldn't even know where to start if that was me lol I would have probably been all shakey lol afraid to mess it up lol I kinda wish I had done one with my child I just had on the 17th of april. his placenta was HUGE! like I would have needed 2 of those paper things you used and his cord was like bigger around then a quarter roll. I wish I had a print of it lol it would have made a nice BIG tree

  • haha ur sons sounds like my daughters. It was like twice the size of my head and just like u said the cord was massive as well. her cord took 6 1/2 weeks to fall off it was that thick... that was after having it burned or what ever 4 times as well. That sucker just did NOT want to dry and fall off. In my birth vid of my daughter my dr holds up the placenta in awe and tells everyone how big an nourished she was, ha. I was like oh Lord... lol I didn't know whether to smile or be embarrassed.

  • my placenta was attached to the side not middle they said it was a different way coz most people have the cord in the middle!!! crazy!! was yours in the middle? x

  • No the cord was attached to the side of the placenta, instead of the middle.

  • That looks soo neat congrats on having Kacen!!!

  • i loved playing with my placenta. I stretched the sac out, i mucked around with which way it went etc it was fun

  • in response to your written comments for this video: as much as we want to hear all out your L&D and meet Kacen, you really need to take your time and look after yourself Lucy :) we will enjoy your video when you get a chance to do it but dont put any unnessisary stress on yourself!

  • the print looks interesting, i was imagining something quite different.

  • Thanks for sharing this with us Lucy!! Congratulations once again & I am so so excited for the update, Labor & delivery vids :)

  • Congratulations to your family on the safe arrival of your son and brother! I hope you had a wonderful birth experience and that everyone is adjusting well.

No offence, I'm not into the whole placenta print thing but each to their own. Are you happy with how it turned out?

  • That looks awesome! ^_^

  • Definitely very different... but very sentimental! You're belly is basically gone already and you are gorgeous! Nothing to worry about at all as long as you and your family are healthy and happy :) Take your time with updates - people should understand you just had your second baby! Hope you're all doing well.

  • It's like a science project lol.. But it looks right to me. It looks like the others I have seen. Not every placenta looks the same, nor does blood.

  • that looks really gross..

    no offence (:

    hehe ..

  • its so interessting! I never heard about this placenta-print-thing before, but it is a wonderful memory!!!

Congratulation for your little son. I cant wait to see the update with some pictures of him ;o)

  • Amazing. Beautiful. Congratulations on your sweet son and what a lovely idea with the placenta print (I've wanted to do one too when I have a bub)

  • Hey Lucy! Do you actually have to preserve it in any way? Or can you just let it dry and thats ok? I was just thinking about the smell of dried blood. But it lokks great! This is really a picture noone else will have!

  • such a cool idea! glad to hear all is going well! can't wait for an update video. :)

  • Oh wow I have never seen a real human placenta! That's so intriguing,I can't wait to see the painted one!

  • It's kinda weird but a really cool idea with the print.

  • wow i wish i could have done something like that when i had my daughter

  • will the blood on the paining start to smell at all?

  • cool

  • i think this is very neat so who ever is giving it a thumbs down boo to you
