@amethystgtr102 Great job man! It's almost the exact same as the japan recording with Julie London ! Amazing one.
Talking about this very recording, I found that your last chord of the intro doesn't sound as mysterious and 'deconstructed' as the version ( here v=DXg6UB9Qk0o)
Any idead? seems one cord, the 5th or 6th doesn't sound the same, or is that me?
@nikoBCN - yeah Hi, if you read my info section - I pointed out that I play at B7#5 last chord of intro - whereas Barney played at B7b5. But the version you're referring to is a live tv studio recording with Dennis Budimir on guitar (Not Barney Kessel). I haven't listened closely enuff to that version to comment on it.
@amethystgtr102 Sorry for not reading the desription ! I would have got the "switched chord" part, though I'm more of a joke when I (try to) "play" guitar ;-)
Wow, this is the best version I heard on youtube! I'm really impressed. :-) But could you please tell me the name of the opening chord? I play the F# (on the B-String) and the B (on the e-String) or the full Em9 Chord on the seventh fret, but it hasn't the "shinning dissonance" like your and Mr. Kessels version.
@HifiApartmentTV - thank you very much - it would have been so much better if I'd dragged out my archtop - rather than just use the acoustic which was standing next to my PC at the time - I will do it again,
I only did this for a 'girl singer friend' of mine to sing a long with.
@amethystgtr102 you're welcome! that would be great, I learn this song for the same reason ('girl singer friend') :-) I got some chords, but the opening chord doesnt sound right in "my version". I really appreciate your help! thanks
I am working on this and "I'm Glad There is You" from the same album.
Barney Kessel and Julie London - truly a combination that could not be improved on. I have heard Joe Pass with Ella but there is something more "electric" about this combo - maybe Barney's playing style at that time and Julie's voice - both young and hungry for success!
@joebarneywes - well, thank you for your nice comments. As I said - it was a quick '1' take attempt, I missed a few subtleties of Barney's (especially in the bridge section). I think it's the sound of her voice that is so magical - I think they used an RCA Ribbon microphone, and the compression on her voice is just 'wonderful' . PLUS - that chord!! that dissonant Eminor9th which just hits you straight up, know one had played that 'chord' out front like that before !!
Hi
I have a lot of people asking for tabs etc on this arrangement - which is nice
I don't 'do' tabs- I always think - it's best to try and work it out yourself - you learn so much more that way (IMO)
BUT - I will do a short 'break down video' of how I played it,
give me a week or so

@amethystgtr102 How's it going, man.
I really like your cover and I was wondering if you could send me the chords for this too?
Be really grateful if you could.
Thanks. :)
