what you should do next time you're in paris is go on a bateau mouche, which are the boats that go on the seine. they take you under loads of famous bridges and you get to see loads of popular buildings from the boat too. :)

The "locks" tradition comes from a book by Federico Moccia that tells the story of a couple who seal their love by writing their names on a lock and putting it on the Milvio Bridge in Rome. After the book came out, many couples around Europe do the same in different bridges.

I live in Paris, and this is awesome, it's like I'm re-discovering my own city for the first time, from an other point of view. When you work there, get into the crowded metro every morning and every night, traffic jam on week-ends, rush to work, stress, and same the next day, you don't realize the city is that beautiful. I went to Paris in 2008 winter. Everything was covered with snow & when I arrived Paris & went to the room which I stayed in at the hotel, when you looked out the window you could see like 3/4 of the Eiffel tower. At night.. the view was spectacular. Absolutely breath taking. I stood by the window staring out at the Eiffel tower for a like a good 10 minutes.

I went to Paris the weekend of the royal wedding, so this is like a little flashback for me. I was on a boat trip on the Seine when the Eiffel Tower lit up (at 10 strangely enough), it was truly beautiful. Paris is lovely.

@ladiedottie You should of seen the Sacre Coeur at night. I didn't particularly enjoy the Notre Dame because of the mass tourists. The Sacre Coeur has an amazing atmosphere to it and you really feel engaged when you look around inside. Also the view from the Sacre Coeur is spectacular - seeing the whole city light up.
