can i do it with my d90? i dont have a nikon flash but i have a metz 50 AF-1.. i really like that corona shots.. im using a home made light box do i need to turn on or turn off the light to make that kind of effect? thanx...
i'm basically still a newb when it comes to flash photography, so i would appreciate few tips.
how do i set my shutter speed to 1/8000? when using a popup flash in manual mode, i only get the 1/250 value (on D7000).
i'm using the sb900 in SU-4 mode, and triggering it with built-in set to lowest possible output value (usually 1/128, but primarily depending on that if the external flash "sees" the built-in).
Hi mate, you need to over-ride your sync speed - everytime you place a speedlight in to your hot shoe or enable your pop up flash, your camera automatically limits you to 1/250th because this is your cameras sync speed.
You need to enable AUTO-FP, this allows you to over-ride your sync speed - you will be able to dial to 1/8000th.
Go To:
MENU > CUSTOM SETTING MENU > (e) Bracketing/Flash > e1 FlashSyncSpeed > & Enable AUTOFP.
This should allow you to shoot all the way to 1/8000.
Can You Please Tell Us How You Program! Need Help Thanks!

@scooterphil yea, did it :)
the problem was i did everything u wrote, but wasn't triggering my external flash in commander mode.
built in needs to be in commander mode with - - setting, and group A (or B) activated (i like manual settings so i control the flash output).
thanks anyway, it's awesome to shoot this fast with a flash :D
regards :)
