"There will be great orgies man, like when Dionysus arrived in Greece. He made all the women mad leaving their homes and dancing off into the mountains. There should be great Golden copulations in the streets of L.A."
@bucknut248 Actually the movie, like virtually all Hollywood productions, has three parts, or acts. Your comment is very interesting. I would say first act is A, second A-, third D. It's easy to conceive of beginnings and of success, but dissolution isn't easy for Hollywood to do unless the whole scene is about it. Thus noir.
You know...when this happened in real life, (according to Sugerman) Ray didn´t talk about the 60´s, or sides being chosen or the infinite. Ray said "let´s form a Rocknroll band and make a million bucks man!"
@jessbear1979 no he wasnt....he looked like him that was it...
Val was made to act a bit overboard...the way he moves and acts just wasnt the same as jim...Val was put as if to be in a trip the whole movie and Morrison just wasnt like that
@claxy1337 I don´t know about you people, but I read Sugerman´s book, twice. And the Jim Morrison that appears in those pages is very, very similar to the Val Kilmer Morrison. Sensitive and acting "out there" all the time.A little bit spoiled. That´s not Stone, but Sugerman. Just read it.
@ElFrankus I have read Ray Manzarak's and Robby Kriger's accounts of Stones "Morrison" and they were extremely disappointed in it. Things like "I felt offended to see Jim depicted like that" and Robby saying "it was sad to see Jim always depicted with a bottle"
@ElFrankus I have read it, before watching this interview with him stating that his book was "probably the most misunderstood thing i have ever done and i wished i hadn't"
Val Kilmer at his best. You can say whatever you want about the movie, but there was no one better on this planet who could play Jim Morrison than 1990's Kilmer.

sorry bchick....I totally disagree. Val is a great actor who makes every role his own. He was great as Jim Morrison. On top of that, he's soooooooooooooooooo good looking.....hot, hot, hot....
take a hit of acid and watch this movie....then you will respect val...he kicks ass in this roll and who else could pull this off.....?????? bueller.....
lol, I saw this before but never realized that Ray Manzerek was meditating when Morrison says "try acid, its guaranteed." Manzerek is going "oooooooooooooooommmmmmm."

Val Kilmer, do you understand, like your fellow actors and musicians from LA, Hollywood and Chatsworth-the Porn Capital, that if your films and music lead people away from Our Lord and His Ten Commandments that you'll end up in hell because of your own "free will". If your work in film and music leads people away from Our Lord and His Commandments you will burn in hell. As they say, Hollywood Heaven and Rock and Roll Heaven are the same place-Hell. Dan O'Niallain, Grafton, Ma.
@oniallain1965 by the same token, those who follow a bad influence are exercising their own free will, and it isn't someone else's fault for leading them there. everyone is responsible for their own actions and their own salvation. val kilmer was merely trying to portray jim morrison in his entirety as an actor, nothing more. i am a religious man myself, but fanaticism gives organized religion a bad name, and becomes counterproductive if you are trying to do missionary work. chill out.
This was a pretty great movie, even though the remaining band members thought that Oliver Stone portrayed Jim Morrison more as a drug addict and not a poet.
@Oxbloodred I can't think of anyone who would have made a better fit than VK; I'd heard they were considering John Travolta. that would have been unpalatable.
@moonlily1 they were also considering tom cruise, richard gere, and johnny depp. i could see depp doing it, cause hes an amazing actor, but other than him, no one else could do it
@Metalhead12828 richard gere! ha! that dude was way too old! Tom Cruise too apple pie; Johnny Depp, maybe, but Val Kilmer's the only one who looks at all like Jim Morrison. I personally think Val Kilmer's awesome.
jim morrison never looked like a caveman

The melody that Morrison sang to Manzarek wasn't the one on the Strange Days album, not a big deal, but just pointing it out
