Really dig that Nintendo style Japan beat. it rocks!. and that music at 1:02 when you go inside the dojo me and my little brother used to laugh at it when we were kids because it has that kinda of "gonna get you!!" type beat to it. this game is 20 years old and still i play it today good times
man this game was hard when i was a kid. especially playing at night with a old tv and creepy music hahah it has some psychological impact on you when the game goes on later levels. And also when you're playing with your friends, or ur friends are wathcing your play. it's always so intimidating because they will make fun on your mistakes and some stupid shit. LOL too much pressure. but it is a very good game at the time in terms of the graphics, music, and levels.
I've born in '87 and I'm really proud&happy that I've played these games in my childhood instead of these new 3D and realistic ones. These games made my creativity boost, leaded me to drawing, and now I'm a designer/visual artist.
Oh, I also remembered that when I was playing this game cartridge on NES, pressing Start and Select at the same time used to made me go to the next level without doing anything. Don't know if it was a glitch or cheat, but it was cool.
i still find nintendo games to be more intense than any video games i play today. i just remember nintendo games making me go OOOOHHHH SHIT alot more than new games. maybe because new ones are so fucking easy.
@ST0NEY420 Yeah, the old nintendo games are a lot more challenging than the new "Up to date." Games. People wonder why I say I preffer nintendo over 360 and ps3. (By which they think I mean the WII) Is purely because these games are a lot more creative, difficult and are about entertainment.
hated this level Italy I couldn't do this for ages it took me at lease 3 weeks to clock this bit god when you see these videos now and think back how crap tecnology was compared to what we've got today is unbeleverble isn't it double dragon 3 was a good game at the time but when you look back at it now it also makes me feel old ah well at least it's 2010 and things have progressed from then haven't they?.
Still, it makes me think of good times...when I was 20 years younger and still a teenager (damn I'm old). I particlularly liked this game because the music was SO DAMN GOOD. Especially Italy's stage.
This was one of the few NES games to have fantastic, non-crap sounding music.
i could get to the final boss when i was about 5 or 6. im 22 now and i cant even get passed the first stage. i felt like putting my fist through a wall after 20 minutes of playing. such a shit game, really.
I hear ya; when I was 10 I was like, a beast. At the age of 12 I beat Street Fighter II on the Genesis, turbo speed level 6, difficulty level 7, undefeated. Now, I struggle against Gill.
Same with me. Not that I was very good at NES games when I was younger, but I've lost all my precise skills. Most games these days just have you strategize not time things.
Nice vid! Just a little tip: you don't seem to know you can do more damage with a jump kick by running before doing it (5 instead of 8, to be exact). Could cut you some time if you ever do another run.
i've never liked this game just because it has only 1 fucking LIFE! Gameplay is great but I've never done more than 3 levels))). But when I play with my friends 2 players game it really interesting!
None of you have seen a blonde italian? Im sure none of you have left your country not even to visit others. And Im sure you only speak ONE language. Also, You couldnt point with a finger your own country on the map.
Holy crap! The music of this game haunts me to this day... I have heard this game's musics in my head so many times, but I have been forgotten their origin.
So they spend time in italy training? looks like they are just beating up random people on the streets to me, and it also looks suspisciously like mortal combat to me as training usually doesnt involve throwing knives and other lethal weapons :P
I remember me and a friend tried to beat this game, I think we tried 90-120 times. We got as far as to Italy, then we just gave up because it was too hard. Damn this game is hardcore! Especially when you're a kid.
Yeah this is a tough game. I was a HUGE Double Dragon fan back in the day and I could never beat Double Dragon 3. I managed to make it to the final boss after killing the mummies, but I could never beat the old lady!
That flip kick of Ranzou's was so powerful.

Those floating jump kicks look like something out of crouching tiger hidden dragon. I guess the japanese dig that goofy stuff.
