  • I had the same engine, it kept burning up the electronic ignition coils. It would get to the point where it would only start with an electric drill. Never did find out why it did that...... Yours sounds a lot better!

  • Generally the electronic coil packs on these things either work or they don't. The hard starting was probably caused by bad crankshaft seals. 2 stroke engines need a good crankcase seal in order to pull fuel from the carb.

  • What was strange is the spark would get weak and not arc if your pulled it, but if you spun it with the drill, you got spark. It was serviced, had the gaskets replaced, carb serviced, ran great for a while. The only thing that wasnt replaced was the flywheel. Wonder if it had a weak magnet in it?

  • Weak magnet would be my guess. But I guess it's not impossible that the coil had something wrong with it. All the ones I've seen just seem to fail totally.

  • Im pretty sure they were dead, but my father was like spin it with the drill and see what happens, lol. some 800 rpm's it would start..... eventually the engine just blew. I wish I would have kept it and rebuilt it. I had a chance at a free engine just like your other green mower the 8237. Im almost positive it was that model engine. I know it had the remote primer and the plastic carb. I kick myself now, it ran but the deck got damaged.
