White House Council for Community Solutions Kickoff Meeting Part 1

This is this council's stated goal: "catalyze changes and put spotlight on initiatives that connect more than 1 million disconnected youth to education and career pathways by 2020." Can someone who actually watched this, like I did, tell me why that's a bad idea?

this cop camp would allow kids to slide down the pole, ride in the cop car and work the buttons. learn maybe some firearm training to a point. shoot water guns in a room with fun targets. win badges, and other government stuff. kids all want to be a fireman and a policeman as a child. But there is every camp in the world except one that can help kids understand more the truth of the truth. The experience will stay with this child forever to be a part of his life.

I know this is not relevent per say but just maybe. A year or so ago wanted to make a cop camp fo kids.A place where kids go to hang out with police officers and the car and also fireman and the like. Imagine for a short week as a kid the build up you would get from going to cop camp. Now a days the image that kids get is from the only availability; computers and or video games.A place that kids can have fun learning the real stuff.I beleive this alone would build back up the younger generation

The youth is vulnerable to predators, and those predators are the media and entertainment hypes, social networks & materialism. From a young age, proper & moral upbringing, close family ties, and community involvement need to be instilled in a child's way of life beside a school education. Business & religious organizations need to be more socially responsible & help their communities to expand programs beneficial to the youth. Teachers need to use more psychology, motivating their students more

Why is the American youth behind? It is because of the materialistic environment they live in without any moral fiber in their society. Following fad & fashion, Hollywood personalities & watching MTV seem to be more important to them & if parents do not control what their children do or watch, these children will just go astray. There must be strict measures in parenting & schooling. Parents must be held responsible for school drop outs & govt must impose compulsory 2 year college education.

Corporate welfare, tax cuts for millionaires, financial deregulation that allowed Wall Street to become a casino, expanded loopholes and better-hidden ones, unpaid-for wars and prescription drug programs, and on and on.

Actually you're wrong. As someone who completely understands the housing crisis inside and out, I can tell you the main contributors were the GSE's and the Federal Reserve. The private sector did exactly what it was supposed to do, make markets and money, the GSE's and the Fed created moral hazard, while congress passed legislation mandating affordable housing for all. Thats what happened, it had nothuing to do with tax cuts or wars or deregulation

You're absolutely right, these loans were originated at places like countrywide and Ameriquest, but 80% of ALL subprime loans were guaranteed by the GSE's. Fannie and Freddie never originate loans, they just guarantee loans. The implied guarantee from the GSE's was the primary reason that investors would buy them and played a heavy role in their rating.
