Ok, I just have to know now. What do you mean by "ruby guides"? Is the entire guides made of or is it coated with it. I have never heard of these recorders before. They look so well built. And what year is it?

Those things used to weigh a ton. Spielberg insisted on using them for Jurassic Park jungle Foley. There well made, reliable and great work horses, but now we have Zooms which are surprisingly good.
