  • the link for more videos is not working... do you have an updated one?

  • @jaiolix fixed - thanks for letting me know.

  • Milton Babbitt along with John Cage are my favorite american composers. Two of the all time greatest worldwide too

  • I've been getting the feeling Milt was going soon. Damn, Elliot Carter is the last, would be the oldest even, of them.

  • @aculturemind I had the same feeling then.

  • Marvelous

  • Thank you so much for posting this. What a very intelligent and inventive man. Unfortunately not many people appreciate his music.

  • He speaks in a delightfully engaging way- strong correspondence between the man and the music in this instance.

  • Nice! I've seen a slimmed edit of this interview on a CD/DVD box set called OHM: The Early Guru's of Electronic Music. In that edit, Milton was only shown explaining the development and use of the RCA Synthesizer MK1 & MK2. Fascinating to hear the more complete version of his story.

  • @ 2hpilomel, you are welcome. there are a few hours including a little Phonemena, and incidentally Philomel. Maybe someday we can get a grant to bring this and all the other videos out in full as a resource. EC

  • Thank you so much for this. It is wonderful to hear Milton's story on this day, and if saddens me more at the same time. Is there more video to this interview? I would love to hear him talking about Philomel!

  • RIP, Milton. You changed the way I thought about music for the better.

  • My friend told me the sad news about Dr. Babbitt yesterday. Thank you Eric for posting this valuable document of one of the most ingenious composers of all time. Let the name of Milton Babbitt be remembered forever!

  • Rest in Peace Milton BABBITT...

  • This is wonderful. I'm a shame to think that I had been introduced to his music years ago, loved it and forgot it.

  • r.i.p. Milton

  • Thanks for posting this today, Eric. Wonderful stories. What a remarkable man.
