Yeah Nardwuar does have a deep understanding of pop music and he's up on his knowledge of contemporary music scenes, but you can tell Kurt is bored because like any artist he's more interested in talking about ideas, joking around, and expressing himself (using music to show the outside world what his inside world is like). Maybe if more interviewers were musicians themselves they could engage the people they interviewed better, instead of trying to win them over with trivial knowledge
