@nintendoboy17 if it makes it any easier, there's PS1, 2, Dreamcast, DS and 3DS versions of this game also or you could play it on the PJ64 emulator. And oh god @xxfuzzyyetixx this was totally my childhood game too ;__;
I miss playing this on nintendo 64. It was my favorite game out of the other ones I had. I was always real clost to finishing it but I always forgot how to save lol. I wish I still had it but I sold it to a family who collected really cool stuff.
@CAZPARkour:man you too I just got this game and was wondering what the heck is that thing(I cant even continue through this cause I need a memory pak).
I loved how strange the graphics were compared to any other N64 game out there at the time. The music only added to that effect, it's such an odd place with really creepy music. But its one hell of a classic. I'm glad it's a well known game. They lost their way with Rayman 3 and beyond that, it's just epic fail... But at least this version lives on through the ages. Now if only someone would just effing upload the N64 OST for it. ><
@jvgsjeff I never said it wasn't planned for the Jaguar. There is a website entitled "Unseen64.net" with an article about the SNES one. I think it's one of the featured articles right now.
@MamaLuigiBarrelRoll: Hmm, I never heard that before (nor have I heard of that site before), so I don't know. But they do say that "Ubisoft decided to move the project to the new CD-Rom consoles," yet the first version was a cartridge game (Jaguar). And I don't know why they would release screenshots of the SNES game now when they didn't release any at the time it was in development. It's an interesting story if true.
@jvgsjeff It confused me too. You know what else is weird? I think it was the SNES that couldn't render Rayman's arms, legs, and neck, and Ubisoft just decided to keep the "no limbs" thing on CD consoles because they liked the idea.
Why is it so hard to keep making great games like these? Why must they insist on continuing the Rabbids? Ugh... Ubisoft, you retards... And another thing, WHAT ABOUT BEYOND GOOD & EVIL?
i love the PC version its the best and im a console gamer PS this game scared the crap out of me wean i was 7and the one eyed monster thing that trys to eat you OMFG AHHHHHHH LOL
I think that each one of us born on those 1983-2000.. years.. when in those times we use to play ,marioo,.. sonic.. rayman.. conker BFD.. games.. dude.. those are real good times.. always makes me happy :)
I've only played the version for the Playstation and never played the N64 version. Are there any huge differences between these two versions I mentioned?
By the way I thought this was a really fun game when I first played it. And like everybody else here, I thought it was kind of scary too.
The N64 version was WAY longer. More than twice as long.
It was originally made for N64 but I guess PS got the rights somehow and chopped a lot out of the game. Plus the graphics were more lush, and all the characters spoke in a made up gibberish language.
Same here! I'm 13 and i played this when i was like...5 i think? I loved this game so much though! My brothers ended up selling alot of games to buy a PS2..=/
I remember this game when I first play this game on N64 in 1999 or 2000 when I rented it at Blockbuster and later in 2001 on DreamCast. I like those types of Rayman games better, The Raving Rabbids games are a pain in the neck.
Awesome! This is one of the best games ever, we think. We beat this game twice! We don't like the Rabbids stuff. They should make a Rayman 4, and it should be another like this. Great video!
Thanks alot jeff, i love seeing video game videos like this becasue they bring back such pleasent mamories of my early childhood. I love your videos and can not wait to see more!

The original Rayman was originally planned for the SNES and featured 2-Player
Co-Op but that version was cancelled.

@MamaLuigiBarrelRoll: Not true. Rayman originated as an Atari Jaguar game.

@jvgsjeff Unseen 64 also quotes that it was planned long before the Jaguar, Saturn, and Playstation versions

This is actually the first "old -school fully 3D platformer" ever released!
Highly recommended for N64 courtesy of the incredible visuals and gameplay!
DC -version is also really good.
PC -version looks nice, but is tricky to control.
PS2 -version has terrible framerate.
PSone -version just did not have enough powerfull console on it`s disposal and and is not worth to own...

I agree. Even though I liked Rabbids, they should have stopped after the first one and then gone back to the platformers. Rayman 4 is long overdue.
