He wasent trying to have fun, he wasent disrespecting anyone...he has more time on the water than anyone on here times 8! It slipped his mind and thats all. People make mistakes. Im sure when you fish for that kind of money you probably get into a zone but he knew what he had done and thats it.
Just like half the dipshits you see at the lake. People have no respect for rules of the water. Under no circumstances should anyone travel that close to another boat or watercraft, regardless the speed. People like that really piss me off. His stupid "fun" is what gets people killed and injured.
that fing pisses me off he could have whooped ther asses even if someone did that to him he was just trying to have fun f them kvd can whoop their asses
dude that suuuucks....of all things, to get ousted because you make a dopey piloting move....that has to be a really tough entry fee to eat on top of it all...seems like they wanted to make an example of him...i feel bad though...this is the world series of competitive angling and these guys devote their entire lives to this...hopefully he didnt lose any sponsers.
should have never been DQ all the other boats should have not been sitting where they where and made a hole for him when everyone know he was fishing in there and the other pro waved him on throw plus i live on lake the is long and skinny most places r not 1/2 mile wide passing like that happends all the time i think its BS he had it won
@MultiBaldEagle well thats what u think and i think what i think so i think BASS was wrong for doing it guess its differnt when u grow up driveing boats like that even at night so u can say what u want i will always think it was wrong for the DQ
@rerbass420 Why do you think they have that rule in place? Because an angler was seriously injured in the Louisiana Invitational in 1982 because of an incident just like this!
Gerald violated the rule, it was caught on camera. BASS officials had no choice but to DQ him.
BUT....like I said.......he is one of the nicest guys I've ever met. And I think he knew he f****d up!!!!!!!!!
Its not about the wake, its about getting so close to another boat at that rate of speed. You may not like it, but tournament's have very VERY strict safety rules you must abide by. You can get DQ'd just for not wearing a life jacket when you're on the move.
I have followed bassmasters for many years now and still to this day including the hundreds of hours I have spent on the water have never seen something that dangerous. It would have took 30 seconds out of his day to slow and idle through those guys. He deserved to be DQ for putting those guys lives at risk just because he was in to big a hurry and worried about his self instead of thinking about peoples loved ones. Everybody makes mistakes. The adrenaline and excitment just said go!
I don't think he is a cheater and he was right. He made a bad call and now paid the price. Just something he should have known better on. But he has what it takes so I'm sure he'll be back next year.
Gerald has never cheated... It was a poor judgement!!!! He was way to close to both the camera boat and the pro Gerald is a standup guy and though he made a bad decision he is still the G-Man!!!
Wrong they were blocking the exit of a creek and he didnt have another way out!! You werent there you dont know!! Gerald isnt like that and is still a down to earth Country Boy!!!
Actions speak louder than words. Says in the rule book to maintain sportsman conduct and manner. That was not too sportman whether he was waved though or not. There was plenty of water to slow down and move through. Iaconelli got disqualfied for bending and throwing his light in the water, just making a little marine debris and not risking anyone's life, but an unsportman like conduct to say the least.
It wasn't wrong really. They are pros they know how to handle their equipment. When you get to work with these guys on a one on one basis, you'll understand that. However it was wrong from him to run so close to the spectators. Even Howell wasn't bothered with it, he told him to come on through. And if I were in Howells place I would much rather have had Swindle come through on plane rather than at an idle, because of the wake and the water it would have stirred. Swindle's decision = OK !
I know that Howell saw that it was wrong for him to cut between the camera boat and the spectators, but I promise you, these guys trust each other with their lives. Trust me, I've been there, and done that. No big deal, but still probably not the smartest move ever.
You idiot fucktards, he wasn't waving a camera crew out of the way, he was waving another competitor out of the way. He had no right do pull that chickenshit flyby. He ruined Randy Howell's (whom was in 2nd place at that moment) fishing spot for the sake of his own selfishness. What he did put people in danger and the punishment should've been a lifetime ban.
Additionally, after the flyby he cut in front of 10 boats waiting to unload at the ramp. It's not an isolated incident.
Get the FUCK OUT OF THE WAY YOU DUMBASS CAMERA CREW. HE WAVED U OFF THREE TIMES AND U JUST SAT THERE! HE IS OUT TRYIN TO MAKE A LIVIN. YOU SPECTATORS DONT NEED TO FOLLOW SO CLOSE. PRO'S HAVE THE RIGHT AWAY THATS WHY THEY ARE PRO'S YOU DUMBASS CAMERA IDIOT. YOU JUST COST HIM THE TOURNY IF I WAS HIM I PROBABLY WOULD HAVE WHOPPED UP ON YOU CAMERA BOY!
WTF he wasnt trying to cheat!!! if he would have slowed down he would have muddyied up the water he is a professional i think he knows how to drive a boat you are a dumbshit!!!!!!!!!
When they start having them on private lakes that may happen. You try to keep me off of a public lake so that a bunch of professionals can have the water to themselves and I'll start lobbying to outlaw tournaments.
Anybody who does that needs to get DQ .Common sense people they have strict rules And they will inforce them in the bassmaster tourny.

Running between 2 other boats at that rate of speed is not only unsportsmanlike, it's stupid! He SHOULD HAVE been DQ'd.
BUT.....he realized his mistake and apologized for it. I don't think anyone felt as bad about it as Gerald himself did.

@MultiBaldEagle He only realized his mistake after he was caught and dq'd.

Swindle should have set the boat down but if he would have it would have made a bigger wake shutting down that close.
The video posters comment about being a "cheating neck" is absurd and I wonder if he has ever even met Gerald.

He wasn't cheating, and he wasn't trying to be macho.
He waved them out of the way, but the boat would've caused more of a wake if not on plane.
He wasn't trying to hurt anyone.
