Steve, ... I am going with "Black", for everything except my shirt. Camo-tactical says "I am well equiped" to predators and it says "I am a predator" to law enforcement, on land and in the air. The best knife combo is a few Mora Companion MGs (~$15 ea) and an Ontario SP-8 ... A Becker BK-2 or a Cold Steel Trailmaster (black blade) are both decent choices.
... I traded out my shovel for a hand pick-and-mattock ... more powerful and way more versatile. Frontier Pro Filters x4 ... TRAIN !
instead of your canvas repair kit, get a roll of "Tear Aid" tape. it is in fact the absolute shit. and extremely portable as well as an instant repair.
Nice kit bud, I would lose the camo and go for civi clothes so not to attract attention. Maybe get a good either water bottle9stainless steel) or canteen/stove combo. Ya wool socks. Weigh it out to and try and carry it you'll know what you REALLY want with ya(food, water, fire)
Great vid very informative. Seems like a lot to carry. I've prepared two bug out kits. Once for me and one for my wife. Where was your freezed dried food, or did I miss it? We also have "stay put" emergency kits ready. Basically, all of our camping stuff, extra propane, lanterns, food and water storage.
Our basic plan is we load up the SUV with everything, and if we have to "bug out" on foot and abandon the SUV then it is what we can carry.
@VICBARable I have a whistle / compass / thermometer combo. Face paint has a mirror in it. I also have other things for signaling. However, my line of thinking isn't to be seen but not to be found. Unless of course I'm not bugging out lol.
Everything seems good just take away the big old candles and add some glowsticks. They're perfect for signaling, just tie a string on the end of one and wave it in a circle so helicopters can see a big circle. Remember that you should always have 5 different sources of fire.A lighter, matches, magnesium fire starter, fire steel, steel wool & battery.
Great kit but I agree ditch some of the candles and use glow sticks. The ones I have gotten before last longer than 24 hours. You can buy a ton of them usually from the dollar store and they have different sizes. Other than that your kit is well put together.
Having money was a good idea. Perhaps having some "Chef-Yuck-Arr-Dee Crap-A-Roni on hand could be valuable too. Who knows, a can of Crap-A-Roni may be worth an ounce of gold, if times get real bad.
Ka-Bar Becker BK2 Campanion Fixed Blade Knife, This is an awesome knife for the price. I'm getting me one, and maybe the bigger one too, for a machete/chopping knife.
man, you need to have a USMC ka bar fighting knife, get the one with the kryton handle and the hard sheath for extra durability compared to the leather version, hope this helps>
I would seperate out a few items that you feel you must have if nothing else and keep them in a smaller type bag that you can get to easier. Like a 10 pc kit or so, the gas mask bags work very well for such a thing. If nothing else, this is a good idea so that you may stash the extra closeby.
they wont let me post what i want to say but there is more to add then what you have in your gig contact me for details. they just wont let me post very important information. it seems like when ever i visit cretin sites like this one all of a sudden i cant post
that salt is soooo bad, if you can afford it, and its really not that expensive, get a pack of celtic sea salt. It has all the minerals you need. They have different size bags of it and it will keep. You might also want to add pepper spray for any animals you come across.. save ammo. You will also need something like sugar or gatoraid to replace electrolights. they come in small powder packs too.
I would take a hard look at that shake up flashlight, it looks to me like one of those cheap chinese ripoffs. They have a button battery in them that runs the bulb untill it dies. the shaking does nothing. I bought two of them from Big Lots once and when one of them no longer worked I took it apart to see why and discovered the battery.
You ALWAYS want to have a couple of extra pairs of socks in your bug out bag, at least two pair of wool socks and maybe some talc powder and some new skin blister/burn covers. Your feet are your life in a survival situation, you have to make sure they are well taken care of.
Cool bug out bag though, and given me a couple of ideas on some things to add to my own.
@Rodshark75 Thanks for reminding me. I had every intention to order some wool socks, but had forgotten during the chaos of moving. I've added some things to it since this video as well. wire for making trip wires, Vitamin C, a pair of all weather gloves, aluminum foil and some D Links. I also have a pair of military boots that are not in the bags.
@FreeLovingAmerican Cool, I would also ditch the pillar candles in favor of a pack of glow sticks. You already have several candles and the big ones tend to weight more and fill with wax and go out when used for a long time. Save space and weight wherever you can.
one very important thing to add into your first aid kit that no one notices is a good quality tweezer, you never know when you'll get a splinter or to pull out splinters from thorns and wild plants.
Yup, you're ready buddy... ^_^
