  • Super good pencil

  • is the pencil good for school?

  • @TheSonyGuy1 I use it for sketching. I suppose it would be a matter of what you want to use it for in school. The 0.3mm lead is very fine. I might suggest a thicker lead for general writing.

  • i think u got it from jetpens(dot)com

  • is it me or does this item comes without any packaging ?

  • @Se7enclub2 I don't remember.

  • Just bought this pencil from amazon for $18.91

  • Ha you sound like a little kid with a new toy. You look so happy with your new pencil :P so optimistic, itd be a lot better if everyone was as happy as you :) sick ass pencil btw

  • I already had the 0.5, I bought the 0.3 today for $14.00 on sale at Utrecht art supply. These pencils are top notch when it comes to weight, look, and feel, you can order them also at cultpens.com

  • what website did you buy it from

  • @charonassasin I have no clue. I place a *lot* of online orders. I think I just looked for one that had the item I wanted and reasonable shipping rates. Sorry I can't help more.

  • forever alone

  • i care!!!!!

  • Sorry but for a pentel, you could have done better for $20. But it does kool.

  • i bought one of these in 0.7 lead. It was great at first, but then i had trouble alighning the clip with the opening to make the lead stay out, then the clip became very loose. Might have just been a one off. Nice axe. =)

  • I guess!! Thanks again!

  • It worked! Jesus!! I can get through law school and I can't make a mechanical pencil work. That's sad! Thanks!

  • @MsArtistatheart We all have our bad days.

  • I am really not this dense! UGGGHh!

  • I know!! It's making me insane. I drop the lead into the pencil and click and it does not advance. I imagine that if it's the brown one - the .3 - then only that lead goes in there right? And you can put a few at a time?

  • @MsArtistatheart I would suggest emptying the pencil completely and try loading only one lead. See if that works. There might be a 'jam' inside at the moment.

  • Thanks for the video. i bought this pencil a long time ago and can not figure how to make the lead come out!!! HELP!

  • @MsArtistatheart First off, is there lead inside the pencil? If there is lead, 'click' on the end like a pen. It should advance the lead forward by a small amount per 'click'.

  • I have .3 mm Ggear 1000 also but I bought it directly from pentel and I found out through friend that received one on Christmas that there are two types. The hinge pocket clip (the one your holding) and the regular spring pocket clip I own the latter, Mines full of 3H lead because I needed a heavy duty sketching pencil

  • What website did u get it from???

  • @Fetsko34 I got this quite a while ago. I don't obviously remember. I think I just did a Google Shopping search for the best price I could find.

  • its awesome

  • i got one of these on ebay and it was 0.7 lead

  • Looks wonderful. I've just discovered mechanical pencils this week. My entire life I could never use one because the lead always broke on me, but now I discover that they are much stronger.

  • Hey there you know where you turn the bottom part to HB and 2B what is that all about what does it do?

  • @sufy1000 It's so you can show what type of lead you have in the pencil. In the event you have more than one pencil on your desk at a time for example. Some people like to use more than one hardness of lead at a time. It's just a convenience.

  • @sufy1000 Oh right, i'm using a HB lead of I change it to 2b what would happen? and do you have the Pentel Graphgear 1000 pen?

  • @sufy1000 Um, if you haven't found out by now, 2B lead is softer than HB (less clay, more graphite in it compared to 2B) and because it has more graphite, it creates darker lines which smear easier.

As for changing the indicator on the pencil, nothing will happen; that is just there so people with many pencils can keep track of what lead they have in the pencil.

If you already l knew the second paragraph, sorry. Too many people seem to think changing the lead indicator will change the lead

  • @kragier Ok thanks for that

  • i like the mechanical pencil, i use to have one it wrote very good for all of drawings.

  • I couldn't buy the graphgear because I bought some similar pencils that pentel makes namely the graph series pencils which I hated. I don't want to risk wasting $15 to a pencil that could likely despise. I surprising dislike most of the mechanical pencils I have. But my favorite pencils are Rotring Tikky 400 double push and Platinum Pro-Use II. And I drool over my Pentel Mechanica.

  • It's a great pencil. I have it in 0.5mm. I personally found that I would get hand fatigue from holding the pencil. I love how solid it is, and the click/retract on it is very nice. But when it came time to do lots of homework, my hand would start to wear out too fast.

Although, I think I prefer my Pentel Smash better. My favorite pencil. I bought 2 of them (one for home, one for school) I liked it so much, haha.

  • I would love for you to explain how to change the hardness...I just got one and I'm quite excited to receive it! Thanks for the video.

  • @Rizuzua Is the lead you are using too soft for your needs? What type are you using?

  • Comment removed

  • @Rizuzua The only method I know of changing the hardness is changing the leas itself. Find one that has a hardness rating that suits your needs.

  • There is also a 0.4mm! :-O

  • I just got the graphgear and the kerry. The graphgear is much better.

  • I'm gonna buy the 0.9mm version of that pencil. They're cheaper on ebay. I just ordered a blue Kerry 0.7mm pencil.

  • Hey there thanks for the review. Doesn't the pencil take 0.3mm, 0.5mm and 0.7mm? and is this good for handwriting just say if I wanna write an essay quickly by the looks of it the pencil looks heavy

  • @sufy1000 There are different models of this pencil that take 0.3mm, 0.5mm, 0.7mm & 0.9mm 'lead'. I find it quite comfortable. I have used it for up to 2 hours at a time without any hand fatigue.

  • have you heard of the rotring 600? kinda expensive though

  • @dustinta yeah, that is a bit out of my price range. That and I'm happy with what I have. :)

  • Does anybody know anything about the kerry? I want to buy it for someone but i'm not sure if I want the kerry or the graphgear 1000

  • @bbl1996 Sorry, I have no experience with the Kerry.

  • @tetsubo57 Oh darn...

Well, at least i know what the graphgear is like. And it's pretty darn good!

I'll just get my friend both of them...

  • .5 is better

  • Not for my needs.

  • @copsrule2 .7 is the best

  • Pentel Kerry is better =)

  • is it #2??

  • I use an HB poly graphite 'lead'. You can choose what type you want and change them out as needed.

  • I was wondering if you could get eraser refills on the pencil?

Also, I'm not into drawing but, as a student, I use pencils quite a bit and I was wondering if I could use this pencil to write?

  • I believe you can get replacement erasers. But I use a separate eraser so I didn't actually confirm that before I made my purchase.

I think the 0.3mm would be too fragile for proper writing. But they make the same model in 0.5mm, 0.7mm and 0.9mm versions.

  • Just bought mine online, cant wait to get it!

  • Hope you enjoy it.

  • I actually have that same pencil too. Really is a wonder. :D

Of course, I lost the things several times and had to get new ones. :d If there's a Blick Art Supplies in your area, you can pick the thing up for fifteen bucks and the extra lead for about a dollar each. At least in Fenway.

So if you could get one out of a store, you'd save three dollars and the wait of shipping, provided you can find one.

  • Thanks, I didn't know that.

The closest one to me is in Boston. I may only be 45 minutes north but I rarely get down there. But if I do, I will check it out. :)

  • Col-erase pencils for me! :)

  • Well, you are a professional. I am just a hack amateur. ")

  • you mean graphite, not lead, right?

  • Technically it's a polymer. I just call it 'lead' because I'm old. :)

  • I do too, I just wasn't sure if the Japanese still used lead or not.

  • I don't think anyone does. Well maybe China but they seem to put lead into everything...

  • Same here...even though I know it's not...still call it lead....i'm old school I guess...lol.

  • @thejohnsmith Pshh... Can you imagine someone saying, "Can I borrow some of that graphite?"
