  • "It's cause he doesn't get what living in the ghetto can do to a man."

    "And you do?"

    Still relevant today

  • Redd Foxx looked at this and said "Man, I wonder if I could get that dude with the mustache and afro hair to work with me on this new sit-com I'm putting together."

  • How could anyone give this an honest thumb down rating? Desmond Wilson and Cleavon Little unite to put this episode over the top! One of the highest rated episodes of AITF according to IMDb.

RIP Cleavon Little and Carroll O'Connor

  • @ANewDay2007 Gee, that:s sad. I liked him. He was something.

  • 1:48

  • Mike: He doesnt understand wat living in the ghetto do to a man

    And you do

  • @Wiggitywigg323323232

Long Pause...."we..well I'm studying it in my Sociology class." and got his face laughed in.

One of the most epic verbal exchanges in the history of television.

When will they realize blacks find that kind of white guilt to be really pathetic?

  • You laugh so you won't have to think about it.

  • 4:10 is some deep shit

  • This show has SO MUCH POWER!

  • one of my favorite episodeS haha!

  • "what are you doing???...this ain't no church social"!!!♥

  • a dump means a doo doo

    loved everyone

  • @musc124 what is a christion?

  • Thanks! I NEVER saw that last scene before!!

  • Get the audio from this song at tubepull doht cohm.

  • Mike: Hi, I'm mr. stivic.. I'm against hate and violence. I'm also a hypocrite, it's ok for you guys to break the law since you know, you're black and all. My wife here will make you a sandwich and some coffee. You can take her to the bedroom and have your way with her if you don't mind a little vanilla in your diet.

  • 5:39 the horror, the shock., priceless face lol

  • This may be funny, and I'm sure it was the first time a sitcom had black criminals with funny lines and some discussion of sociological concerns. AITF has to be commended for this, I suppose. But if you've been involved in a crime, where danger is so clearly real, you know it's far from anything like this portrayal. If anyone says AITF was a 'realistic' show, refer them to this episode.

  • @cynic2all -- I never heard anyone clain AITF was realistic...but most episodes were built around stereotypes.

  • @msk7046 I remember a quote from Carroll O'Connor in the mid-70's in which he said, "I still say we're closer to reality than anyone else on television."

  • @cynic2all --Absolutely...and to this day, looking back, it is still the most realistic --perhaps the first sitcom/reality show.

  • There was eleven of us in one bed.

You had a bed?! My father was so....

    You had a father?!

    LOL

  • Mike: Hi, I'm Mike and this is my wife, Gloria. These are my in-laws.

    Archie: What are you doin?!

    hahahaha

  • The reaction to Edith's song is hilarious. I forgot how political shows were "those were the days"

  • Is not Mrs. Bunker the sweetest thing? People like her make the world go around.

  • 4:16..So,are we supposed to feel sympathy for these guys...?IBullshit.

  • @woodykinskileone

Clearly, you've never been in that situation, therefore you're in no position to judge.

  • @mussman717word We have EVERY reason and obligation to "judge". Otherwise, there should be no prisons. We ALL make all kinds of judgements everyday. I don't need to be in any "situation" to know it's wrong and evil to violate others. This liberal drivel doesn't hold water. I mean, duh!

  • @yesorlando05

We all make judgements, of course. However, we must discern with understanding. It's easy to pass the buck to the victim, when in fact you may be to blame. Ignorance is bliss, amigo.

  • @woodykinskileone ...So are we supposed to feel sympathy for the obnoxious, laughably stupid bigot that just got robbed...? Bullshit.

  • "I beg your pardon? Who's the crook here? HAHA"

  • this was television at its best

  • One Liberal and One Bigot. in the same house makes good comedy .

  • LMAOOOOOOOOOOO @ the new recording

  • cleavon little is awsome!!!!!!!!!! he is so funny!!!!

  • This is great!

  • what you do, we just stood around saying where is everything?

  • It's true; if Archie had the gun with him, those to burglars would have ran out of that house faster than Road runner!

  • LOL<3

  • I beg your pardon... who's the crook here???? lol

  • This episode is CLASSIC. Hilarious from beginning to end.

  • What does the burglar remove from the gun at 7:03?

  • @hallpriest9 He removed the magazine(bullets)

  • i aint no bigot im the first guy to say it aint ur fault u guys r colored

    lmao!!

  • Very, very politically incorrect, but funny nonetheless!!

  • @jzzlvrmee I'm sorry, what's politically incorrect about it?

  • @hallpriest9 listen to some of the comments Archie makes about the thieves, and and what they say about themselves, among other things(colored, etc)

  • @hallpriest9 listen to some of Archie's comments, like"It ain't your fault you guys are colored", his comment about people hanging with their own kind, some of the thieve's comments(jigaboos), people would be pretty sensitive about some of these comments today(hard to believe, but true).

  • @jzzlvrmee Of course people would be pissed about these comments? Why wouldn't they?

  • @JerryTerrifying I realize that, I made the comment to point out how different attitudes about these things were before the time of political correctness. Also, you kind of knew what you were getting with "All In The Family", and people understood that they were poking fun at those attitudes....

  • @jzzlvrmee FUCK political correctness. And btw, the term "political correctness" is an oxymoron! This "PC" shit has been ruining our society and brainwashing our kids. How DARE we offend anybody nowadays?! And NEVER use a red pen to grade a test--it is too harsh on our kid's psyche. Hell, even sporting teams in little league give out trophies to the losers. We need to get REAL and OFF this PC-BS.

  • @msk7046 Actually I don't agree with all of the PC nonsense myself. We can treat others with kindness and consideration without going overboard. Maybe people should not be overly sensitive, but it is still no excuse for people to act like jerks.

  • @jzzlvrmee ---You're absolutely correct, imo.

  • @msk7046 amen

  • @msk7046 i agree, sort of. people make a huge fuss over heritage--European, African, Asian, etc. the world will never experience healing until we start ignoring our ethnic differences and sharing our similarities. apart from cultural anthropology, i mean :D

teaching kids by the method "Which of these doesn't belong?" is one example. decision making is an evolutionary feature, but we needn't let it continue fomenting hatred and suspicion for those who "don't belong" to certain groups.

  • @msk7046 ...in short, let's eliminate these phony, outdated hyphenated heritages in favor of viewing people as individuals--including all the miracles and faults found in the universal human experience.

  • You had a bed? You had a father? LOL

  • 3:38 Rob Reiner trying not to crack up.

  • Cleavon Little ... What a performance here!

  • I really LIKED the song she made

  • um mike and gloria go up to bed um shouldnt they be calling the cops!!

  • I liked the song she sang..

  • Yep.

  • Archie had plenty of chances to make an easy grab for that gun. But that would be escalating for no reason.

  • this show is the best

  • yeah! ediths song would keep me away too!!

  • Mike is such a jackass its funny how they always want to blame Archie for everything but Mike is not completely innocent either.

  • Personally I like how Mike thinks. Cause when you have been poor, it makes more understanding.

  • I always wondered where Lamont picked up all that junk for sanford and son lol

  • mike is such an idiot for introducing themselves lmao!!!

  • @princev11 i would do the same thing, lol maybe because im Polish too

  • @princev11 well he is a liberal

  • The guy that later played on blazing saddles was hilarious.

Mr. Mcnab called said theres two jigaboos in the neighborhood.

Archie " Hi, how are ya ?

  • Clevon Little

  • It may not be good to escalate this but Mike could've easily got the gun plenty of times while they were ranting.

  • The irony is wonderfully done!

  • Does anybody know where I could find the one where archie has to add more members to his lodge. And he wants a black, jewish guy, Sol. I think was his name. But I cant find it on here, and I'd like to send it to someone.

If you know where it is, let me know. ok.

    Thanks so much..

  • Guns for the police and military only, as per the "well-regulated militia" portion of the antiquated 2nd amendment.

  • YO YO YO, it's CRYME TYME!!! BROOKLYN, BROOKLYN!!

  • This episode was a bunch of liberal bed-wetting anti-gun social commentary drivel until the robbers started making fun of Mike.

  • It showed some of the discrepancies in both conservative and liberal idealogy, things that conservatives and liberals don't take seriously enough. Conservatives think that as long as guns are owned by law abiding citizens, then it is not a problem, OFTEN not taking into account that they can get stolen and used by criminals. (I am in favor of gun rights, as long as gun owners take safety seriously)

Also, liberals, like Mike Stivic, often don't want to hold the poor accountable for their actions

  • Personally I have been poor before, & it makes you ALOT more understanding. So, stop judging people that do what they CAN to survive.

  • You just goiia love the expressions on some of the actors.

  • those two guys sound like a minstrel show routine

  • Yeah right! It's just that the whole thing is pretty implausible. A thief will steal anything from anybody. On top of that, they're unpredictable. If they even think someone will give a description of them or pick them out of a line up they will kill that person with anything; steak knife, large piece of metal, or baseball bat, it doesn't matter.

That's why you need concealed handgun permits. That way you have your weapon with you. And if someone has broken into your home you blow 'em away!

  • That's Lamont from Sanford and Son! This is MY FAVORITE episode of All in the Family!

  • The other one is Cleavon Little from "Blazing Saddles" and this is one of my favorite episodes.

  • we gone' make you the monitor

  • lol, it is so funny that they are making fun of the "bigot" AND the "liberal".

  • yes. it is.

  • This is one of my favorite shows; Archie is hillarious. His ignorance is bliss but I find the show very amusing, I can watch it over and over. Thank you whoever put this on!

  • Edith: I don't know how you can laugh through all that misery.

    Robber: Practice lady............Practice

    Touches me everytime

  • yep. the realities of life, Great show.

  • yea the one without the fro is is from blazing saddles

  • is one of the black guys from blazzing saddles?

  • The black guy at 0:23 is Lamont from sandford and son.

  • @cartmanfan0316 Yep, the late Cleavon Little

  • that was the greatest ending!

  • Then you must be a liberal... lmao! AMEN!

  • Brothers robbing you...what a laugh

  • i guess there are still archies left in this world.

  • where ?

  • And they would have put a bullet right through yours.

  • Cleavon Little really steals the scenes in this.

  • Thank you for posting this! For some reason, TV Land don't show "All in the Family" any more. This show was was the cutting edge when it came out.

  • I agree. I wasn't even born when this came out originally. I think TV land, like all the other networks, is quite intimidated when it comes this type of classic show. TVland, like most of today's viewers fancy themselves extremely dignified and thus are hypersensitive to it! There are none more blind than those who CHOOSE not to see.

It's a shame. Profoundly a shame. Now we get treated to such winnwers(huh) like Chapelle's show- Oh the hypocrisy. The sad awful hypocrisy. ...Indeed.

  • what season is this off of?

  • Season 2, episode 4 on October 9, 1971.

  • thanks

  • Cleavon Little was a riot. He passed away way too young.

  • These guys are funny :D

  • HAHAHAHA! What a great episode! Thanks for posting this! :)

  • His expression at 6:05-6:07. lol.

  • I remember the bad guy on the left was in Blazing Saddles...I luv that movie!

  • CLEAVON LITTLE.

  • thanks again...
