Hey Frankey Hoboken did you ever hear a song "A Short Prayer" by Anthony and The Imperials? I have the 45 but I'm wondering if is Little Anthony and The Imperials.
He really wails on this one too! In many ways Avco was the ideal label for Little Anthony & The Imperials, being sympathetic to the 70s Sweet Soul sound. Pity they couldn't break them big again. Why did Black America virtually desert all this talent just because they hadn't got a "hit record" at the time? I'll never understand it.
This song was from the 1973 LP "On a New Street" on the Avco label. It was written by Teddy Randazzo. He wrote many of their hits including a doo-wop classic "Tears of My Pillow", "I'm on the Outside Looking In", "Goin' Out of My Head" and others. he also produced and wrote six of them from that album and five of them produced by Thom Bell.
Randazzo was a genius!!!!!!!!!!
