    we have to continue to show that these decisions at the end of life should belong to patients and that doctors who serve them are providing comfort care appropriate to that situation, which is an appropriate and helpful role that needs to be legally protected.

  • Compassion doesn't include "suffering with" someone. Compassion is concerned with reducing their suffering and making them feel better.

    Paternalism and compassion are mutually exclusive.
