Depending on the mood or temperment of cleric or Imams they could be harsh or gentile it does not matter. Part of the verse is "missing" most likely because it doesn't exist in the oldest texts that we have. It is in the newer manuscripts that we have because scribes sometimes added stuff to a verse in the Gospels that occured in others. For example, the Lord's prayer in Luke had stuff added to it, that isn't in the older texts we have, in order to make it line up more nicely with Matthew's Lord's prayer.

tomopotamus "oldest texts" means absolutely nothing. Manuscripts that are in heavy use wear out within a few centuries. This is why the original Gospel manuscripts will never be found. The oldest manuscripts only prove that they were not in heavy use. In fact, the abomination manucripts of that gnostic Origen (Vaticanus and Sinaiticus) were found half finished inside Origen's GARBAGE BIN. That is why they were preserved so long, they were not used for translation or read.

Those corrupted versions should have been left in that garbage can. 90% of existing manuscripts we had are of the byzantine style (which the TR is based on). That is proof that it was in mass use by believers.

Besides, the Peshitta is actually older then any of those and it agrees with the Textus Receptus. Also note how the Peshitta agrees with the Hebrew Masoretic Text unlike the Septuagint.

KJV 1611 is the absolute best Bible version for English speakers. Essentially, the only other choice is the catholic Bible based on Jeromes Latin Vulgate, which is based on the bastardized manuscripts (Codex Vaticanus) of Origen. The other newer Bible versions are simply perversions of the KJV 1611, they have been altered by those freemason homosexuals Westcott and Hort who simply mixed Jeromes Latin Vulgate with the King James.

Well you said why read the KJV 1611 only? My answer would be that reading many different versions is a good way to confuse the believer as to the meanings of Scripture. I do agree that you should do research and figure out what the absolute best version is, I have done so and found that it was the KJV 1611 or the Original Geneva Bible. I was saved on a RSV Bible but as I matured in my faith and saw certain differences between the original King James and the RSV I realized which was for me.

Here is just one example, the KJV 1611 says "Jesus went with his mother and Joseph" while in the RSV it says "Jesus went with his mother and father", so the RSV says that Joseph is his father while the KJV insinuates that Joseph was not his father (as God the Father is his father). Which one is more correct?? One supports the truth that Jesus is divine of God, the other insinuates that he is of men.

I was brought closer to God by reading the NIV bible. Its really a matter of preference for the individual. If you want and in depth study the most accurate translation is the King James Bible, or you can get one called "The Scriptures" which uses the original Hebrew word for "Jehovah" "Eloheem", etc. I recommend KJV when you want a translation that doesn't not have missing verses. If you read the KJV first then the NIV, NASB you will notice missing verses.

Another issue, is that in the Bible, God says, "Do not add to nor take away" when the translators take out certain words or change or delete text it leaves out the true meaning of the phrase. For example, (NIV) Says, "Man shall not live by bread alone."

But the (KJV) "Man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God"

So we see the real meaning of the text ; a person must live by the Scriptures to attain greater spiritual understanding about God.

Just looking through this, I believe that the KJV is the most safest to study with. I'll give another example: in Acts 8 Phillip was to baptize the Ethiopian. There is a verse missing in 37 which in sum says do you believe that Jesus is the Son of God, the Ethiopian says he believes, THEN he was baptized but when people read that with the verse missing, it can cause them to be baptized without belief. The NRSV Anglicized ediition with Apocrypha. ISBN 9780191070013 is also very good.I have most versions in large print. WHY ? A study showed that even people with good eye remembered more using large print so I am replacing all my stock NIV NKJV NRSV Njb with large print study editions. Ebay and Amazon you can get good used bibles cheaply. The KJV bible is not used in England because we accept people do not talk like Shakespear any more.

I totally agree with JEDI, the History of the KJV 1610 is like none other. They had over a hundred scribes who were also linguist, and they were in separate rooms when they would transcribe the Hebrew and Greek text. If one, I say again, if one had something different they would throw out the passage that was transcribe and start all over. People lost their lives during this "God inspired" translation. God has perserved His Word in the KJV, all other translations are watered down by man.

Hmmm, while I'm not completely KJV, ( I also read the amplified to translate the KJV) I have to say that there are some bibles that are very post modern. In other words, just too dang watered down. For instance, the Message Bible is so warped, that I couldn't tell if that was the bible or just some literature book on the market. I don't believe that to be safe.

The KJV is a very accurate translation. The NIV however is not. RSV no. NKJV different texts mixed. But each inaccurate modern version can still be useful to a certain limited degree.

No offense, but for me it's KJV or nothing, and it should be the same for all of us. These modern versions come from the Alexandrian manuscripts which were made by scholars there who made modifications to it as they saw fit. The catholic religon has commisioned about 80 new Bible versions to confuse everyone. KJV or nothing, God has preserved His word, end of story, the rest are all man's own doing. And I know all the arguements against the KJV version, and they are laughable.

Manckie, the other Bible versions are more literal translations of this verse. The Hebrew doesn't say 'the brother of'. But 1 Chron 20:5 makes this clear. It is the footnotes to the NIV that give this connection and allow us to see WHY the KJV adds the words 'the brother of'. It also clarifies that perhaps the name should be Jair the weaver rather than Jaareoregim, as it appears in the KJV (interesting in light of the fact that Goliath's brother had a spear with a shaft 'like a weaver's beam')!

I was this close to getting sucked into the whole KJVO, but I did take the time and listen to the othersides argument. Did my research and now I still do enjoy the KJV it will always be my most favorite, but I 2nd after that the NASB is my favorite as well. God promised to preserve His word, not the language. In fact, He confused mankind with languages at the tower of Babel. It hasnt changed much since then I guess, some of us are still a bit confused about which translation matters.

Most rewarding -- when ready -- is to learn to read Bible in the original-language texts. For then you KNOW (not merely believe) you see God 'face-to-face'. It's easy, nowadays.

So one goes from mere believing, to knowing, via ever-deeper study in Word, as lovejesusplz implied. You really can know God intimately, per Bible's promise in Jer31:31-34, Heb8:8-12 to 10:15-17.

Note the reversal of order in Heb8:8-12, compared to 10:15-17, since the Lord is Risen. :)

Good comment, aTrueHybrid. I use the NASB for tracking to the original Hebrew and Greek, the NIV for overall sense. Proper hermeneutics demands you first read the whole letter to get its flow and what the author means to say, then go point by point in tracking. Can't track in English, but can get the sense of the whole. So first I use NIV, then NASB and maybe KJV for tracking. Often KJV has the best translation of a verse, though English Bibles copy it (shameful, that they do).

i got a King James Study bible, a New King James Version ordinary bible, and a norwegian bible, first i started to read the study bible, but noticed that i didnt really understand as much of it, being in a old english language, then i went over to New King James, as it werent my native language i moved on to the norwegian bible which is my native language, and now i can see that many of the things i read in KJ i have compleetely missunderstood

the KJV is the most original to the hebrew/greek traslations of the text...

other vertions have had important words changed...so the meaning in not the same....God is not the auter of confution NO.

however, he is not printing out these new verions of books...with changes not needed....the words of the lord are his words...and should not be changed,from original pretext.cause it changes the meaning of everything he said.
