  • I liked the hollywood version better, According to the book Lisbeth is supposed to be super thin and frail looking and in the swedish movie she is buff and manly.

  • I liked this verson more than the swedish one just beacause the story is better narrated, edited and it has better performances.

And im not either swedish or american by the way :)

  • just watched this movie and wow was it overrated..the first hour was so slow i almost turned it off..the 'mystery' element was lame and it was quite easy to tell who the killer was..glad i didnt go to see this in the theatre..

  • i think the hollywood virsion was a total rape scean

  • To all the people who don't like the movie or liked the Swedish one better; yeah but David Fincher, your argument is invalid

  • I love :57!

  • Wait, wait, has anyone adressed what the ranking of "tour de force" is...is it like blu ray, or no alcohol required?

  • @flowboiz It's means mastery in a field.

  • @flowboiz it means its good just artsy as fuck

  • The movies is wasn't bad, i mean the story was kinda of interesting, the dark tone was... good (sorta) but the first hour was SO DAMN SLOW! I mean, the two stories advance but it was no connection between them, then become a little more faster and interesting but yeah kinda of cliche... It was good, not amazing, but good...

And yeah, i got no idea why the damn rape scene, i already get that the life of the girl was bad... The scene was needless for that... Just needless.

    6/10... Not bad

  • I don't know why you're so annoyed it's a crime movie. You'll give anything a great review with over the top action, but when something makes you think you shrug it off. Starting to doubt your opinion as one I should subscribe to.

  • @MrBronwaugh lmfao high horse much hahaha. get the fuck over yourself wow

  • I am a big fan of the book trilogy, and I really think that reading the book gives you a lot more insight into the underdog-protagonist (the chick with the tattoo of some bird or something), and really fills in a lot of gaps left by the movie. Spot on review, but I was able to appreciate the characters SO much more from reading the books first. Overall, it was great movie.

  • I thought this movie was total meaningless shit.

  • The original Swedish rape scene was much more graphic...just saying. Also I am pretty sure my theater was not at all prepared for the rape scene but I knew it was coming. When I heard the response of the rest of the audience I... started laughing. Making me look like an A-hole.

  • @BFSDean The rape scene in the Swedish film was pathetic. It was just a bunch of close-ups of her face as she was screaming. And the overall atmosphere of the rape scenes (both of them) in the english version was just so much creepier and foreboding.

  • jeremy can you review the first couple of episodes of rob? its..pretty funny

  • Sometimes I just don't understand Jeremy. In some of his reviews, he says he likes big explosions and high octane action sequences with little substance, but in others, he says he likes intelligence in his movies as well. He seems to contradict himself. Girl with the Dragon Tattoo seems like his type of movie. I don't understand. It has that genuine thriller feel to it, something fincher does very well. But I guess jeremy shoulda saw it before people hyped it up for him.

  • @theseahawkfan89 you cant like more than one type of movie?

  • funny manerisms you got haha. Im not bashing your review, its honest and you seem to like it, while not love it. I think its such an excellent movie because great performances, mixed with excellent cinematography, and the best part: an amazing soundtrack that really is the driving force. it builds tension

  • I never saw the Swedish version.I should have probably but it didn't reached my country. And about the US version there were so trailers, much talk, etc. it was in the cinemas so I watched and I enjoyed the hell out of it :)

  • No difference, u can almost think that they have used the 'copy' and 'paste' function...

  • One of Fincher's weakest films but a good American version yet the Swedish version reigns supreme

  • Hey Jeremy, I agree that this movie was awesome, heavily stylised, yes, but, you care about the characters(its sad when she sees him with his original mistress at the end). Otherwise, it was fast paced, a good mystery and the villain was a cold vicious bastard of the highest order(murder dungeon anyone?) If you're on the fence, watch this movie, you won't regret it :)

  • I have seen both and I like both equally

  • ok so this is for you jeremy and all his subscribers @ 2:34 YOU SAID this was the worst rape scene youve ever seen correct? I have one that will destroy that scene and make it look consensual... this movie will make you want to kill the next rapist you see(even though we want to kill them all anyways) watch the movie LIFE IS HOT IN CRACKTOWN... trust me great movie !!!!

  • this movie was fucking horrible a waste of 2 and a half hours

  • the original is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better, just sayin'.... haven't read the books though.... and i probably am not going to....

  • I do agree that the crime didn't seem to be that big of a deal in the movie when I compare it to the book. To me, both Lisbeth as a character and the crime (and to a certain extent, Mikael as a character) were a pretty big deal in the book but in the movie the crime and everything seemed pretty cliche while Lisbeth was still great. Not that it made the movie bad or anything cause I really enjoyed it (though, like always, the book ends up being better).

  • I preferred the Swedish film. It was less stylized. The American felt like a long music video in some ways. The Swedish film was more raw, and had better dialogue.

  • @drinkmereadme

I agree, the Swedish films are amazing and this was good but inferior. Same goes to Let Me In.

  • @Johnlindsey289 Actually when it comes to Let the Right One In/Let Me In, I preferred Let Me In. I think it boils down to the fact that, in my opinion, the American child actors did a better job. Although there were some things as far as style goes that I liked about the Swedish one more.

  • like your reviews are great, but i have to disagree.

  • why isnt jeremy an actor?

  • The girl in the dragon tatoo = millenium 1, why did they do it? It is the same, but millenium 1 is much better!

  • why does hollywood take great scandinavian films and turn them to shit

  • @InsaneaTann

Becouse they dont want to read subtitles, and why do u care? you already got your swedish verison of the book so be happy and let us enjoy the american version which by the way better than the swedish verison

  • @Lakis177 there is no way that american is better then the original version.

  • @InsaneaTann

    Books better than both.

  • @Spectre1545 of course it is.

  • The movie was AWESOME ON MAX!!!!!!!

  • American version was shit! Original was way better!

  • @RyanCaraHimself

    High budget > low budget,

    (Golden Globe N Academy nomination ) Ronney > Noomi ( Nothing )

The american was WAY better, and you got your swedish verison so leave us with the american onr

  • It's a good movie by David Fincher.

By nowhere near close Zodiac when it comes to mystery suspense movie.

  • Hahaha, I have to disagree with ya, Jeremy, that movie was really awesome!!

  • Go watch the original ones AND read the books. That's what the hype is about - they're all amazingly made and really, really exciting!

  • Totally disagree with you on this, but you made us laugh! ;-)

  • the megan fox joke had me laughing soo hard i missed the whole final part of the review

  • Two scenes in this that really disturbed me:

    1. The rape scene

    2. The mutilated cat

  • can't help feeling that i completely disagree, I LOVED IT!

  • SWEDISH POWER!!!!!!

  • Lol

    Bjurman=ewok

  • you know the scene in silence of the lambs? the one where buffalo bill says "would you do me?..id do me" and starts dancing naked? yepp thats the feeling i had this entire movie.

  • @joker9494949494 You watched the cut version of SOTL, in the uncut he says 'would you fuck me?'

  • the main story is the side story while lisbeth side story is the main story in the next 2 sequels this is the format of milliniom girl with the dragon tattoo introduces the main characters girl who played with fire lisbeth is framed and is wanted the girl who kicked the hornets nest the trilogy gets wraped up

  • Not only was the original version better, but they already made ALL THREE movies in this "Milennium" trilogy and they are all out and availble to watch now.

  • The Swedish version is better then the American version.

  • @Rumpsprej they r both good in there own rights personaly i like the swedish version better but the american version was good aparently the american version was closer to the book

  • @Rumpsprej I doubt that. How is it better?

  • @Markunator Well it is just more darker and better pieces in the movie. But both are very good I highly suggest them.

  • @Rumpsprej American version is FUCKING AWESOME but you're right. If American Version was God, The Swedish version is like Chuck Norris, Master Chief, and Gordon Freeman were morphed together to be a TOUR DE FORCE.

  • @Rumpsprej I would agree with you on every other movie that has european and american versions BUT this one.

  • review the Avengers Super Bowl XLVI Commercial (Extended)

  • I loved this movie.

  • I found the raping scene in this movie easy to masturbait to.

  • @MegaAgamer bro thats not funny

  • actually i realy didn't think it was going to be that person.

  • This movie sticks closer to the book, but i think its falls flat because of that. i prefer the Swedish adaptation of the book, the reveal about "Who Done It?" is more satisfying and less predictable than in this one. also wasn't to partial about the subplot with the business that craig sues and this whole prologue after they find out what happened to whats her face. its more ambiguous and satisfying. overall, see the swedish one, its on netflix already.

  • I think that movie has great pacing. 2.5 hours just flew by.

I would say that is far better then swedish version.

  • tHE gIRL WITH THE dRAGON tATOO IS ABAUT A CRIME, AT LAST THE BOOK AND THE ORIGINAL MOVIE (WHO HAS A DIFFERENT NAME) BUT "THE AMERICAN VERSION" TRY TO FOCUS THE FILM IN THE GIRL BUT THAT ONLY WORK IN THE OTHER TWO MOVIES. , THIS IS TO SOLVE A MURDER

  • Naw, the most graphic rape scene would have to be in

    'Law Abiding Citizen' o.o

  • @AntiOxygenH20 Not by a long shot; A Serbian Film has the worst. Do not watch that movie.

  • I watched this one first and then I saw the original swedish trilogy and I gotta say I loved them, both versions are pretty good, the US version is more graphic and had things that the other one doesn't and viceversa. I really thought you'd like this one Jeremy but well, it's youre opinion.

  • That was the most European movie I had ever scene. Casual extra-marital affairs. Casual lesbian sex. Casual sex. Atheism. Catholicism. Both done casually. Emotionless blonde characters. Messed up backgrounds. Rich politicitians. Everyone's an alcoholic. Wow. Most European movie I had ever seen. I agree with the Tour De Force rating, though.

  • "I really enjoyed that rape scene" said absolutely no decent person ever. I get that it helps illustrate how irreparably damaged she is, but her seeing her mothers head get chopped off with a chain saw seems to do the trick, halla @ Dexter.

  • @92rbarnett the rape does become important in the last one well its the dvd thats important

  • its boring

  • Jeremy you idiot

  • hitler is in my history exam today :p

  • That rape scene made me uncomfortable too (to the point of pissing me off). But that's nothing compared to the rape scene in the French drama "Irréversible". That shit is on a whole other level, man.

But nonetheless, I absolutely LOVED this movie. The setting. The tone. The feel of the movie. The dark vibe it gives off with such style. I'll watch ANYTHING David Fincher makes.

  • @Guerrillablackdog

I know on Irreversible as it made me uncomfortable but have you seen Last House on The Left (1972), I Spit on Your Grave (1978) and House on The Edge of the Park or A Serbian Film?

  • @Guerrillablackdog this rape scene is nothing to the entire Filipino drama industry

  • @ShadowCrowX what does that mean?

  • @nenabunena it means that Filipino dramas make me more uncomfortable than the rape scene in this movie. Why? Because all they do is scream, cry and point guns at children's heads

  • @ShadowCrowX ah ok. well i don't watch pinoy dramas, except for cine klasiks. you should watch ako - batch 81

  • I loved the shit out of this film. Fincher can't do wrong!

  • @Youthbl00d I AGREE!!

  • This movie is better than Jesus, which isn't saying much cause Jesus was a douche.

  • Can someone tell me this guy's rating system?

  • @REDGUY2764 5stars:awesometacular... 4.5stars:buy it on bluray...4.0 or so:tour de force 3.5stars:good no alcohol required...3.0stars:ok but not gonna rememeber it in t-minus (whatever minutes..days..etc) 2.5-2.0stars:good time..if your drunk..1.5-1.0stars:dogshit..and the last twilight movie is the only one he "nothing" the movie lol

  • Why would hipster want a hollywood remake of an already great swedish film to be good? they shouldn't give a fuck.

  • Lisbeth's personally...is awesome.

I love a girl who can kick my ass.

  • i really didnt like this movie

  • Seen the original.

    The US version is better.

Rooney Mara is a better Lisbeth.

Just everything about the US version is better than the Swedish one.

In my opinion this film deserves The Best Picture, Actress, and cinematography awards.

  • seen both of them and read the books, I have to disagree, personally the remake is spectacular, even better than the original in acting, cinematography, in fact, its better in ever way!

Yeah I thought id never say this about an American remake of a european property!

  • @pathfinder756

What about Let Me In? any thoughts on that one?

  • Lol & The Oscar goes to Megan fox for Jennifer's body 2

  • yea i completely disagree this movie was fuckin sick i dont have any idea what you are talking about with the whole "really hyped up" this movie was not hyped up no body was talking about this movie at all at least not where im from but yea this movie was awesome

  • the swedish one is better

  • Comment removed

  • wow... i really have to disagree with jeremy, this movie was awsome

  • @ePiCMickster69 Totally agree with Jeremt... the swedish version its waaaaaaay better, and Rooney Mara has a "poker face" the 60% of the film, Noomi Rapace was amazing as lisbeth salander...worst fincher film

  • @ePiCMickster69 i agree man, this movie was great

  • @ePiCMickster69 Thos movie was a Change of Pace with all the bullshit Comic movies and stupid ass ramakes

  • @ePiCMickster69 He didn't really say it was bad he just said it was kinda artys.

  • Rooney Mara was also in nightmare on elm street!

    Jeremy do you're research!

  • @darkhedgehogboy94 Oh yeah, because she was SO memorable in that film.

  • Why do Americans feel the need to makeover movies. I mean, I'm sure its a decent film but... it was already a decent film.

  • @AlphaWolf31 bless you person hahaha, it definetly was already a decent film, this one is below the swidish, why did they do it again! it was good as it was.

  • @AlphaWolf31 It's based on the book, not the Swedish movie.

  • @AlphaWolf31 more than a decent film before

  • @AlphaWolf31 because most people here in US dont know of the other film's, so to them its new.

  • @AlphaWolf31 Americans don't like reading subtitles, Which is a shame as the original film is better most of the time.

  • This is just my opinion, but I think Daniel Craig is overhyped just because people like him as the current James Bond.

  • SPOILER. wait wait wait Jeremy but there was no killer...

  • Why would you like a rape scene?

  • I just saw this today, I thought it was great! I found it tense, mysterious and Rooney Mara gave a perfect performance IMO :)

  • I liked it. But the bit where the fat rapist gets a dildo shoved up is abdomen was not pleasant. At all. Overall, 4/5

  • i havent seen the american remake but i have seen the swedish trilogy. it's definately about the girl, not as damaged as her mother but as fucked up as the father, it is genetic.

it does smack of twisted logic not even natural chaos not even revenge it is mainly a kill and shag fest film. it reminds me of people who do drugs yet the heroine unlike her guardian angel was not even smeared in the film with the mind altering substances, that is deviants+drug addicts in real life i meen

  • @Joshawaable You fucking suck, fucking bookworm.

  • Read the books, watched the swedish movies, but overall I liked the English remake better, it has a differant feel to it that I felt was closer to the book

  • I've seen the original Swedish version, and the follow ups to it. This version doesn't seem worth watching to me.

  • @5cRuFfY1 Most people prefer the English version, they say it follow the book more so yeah you suck.

  • @5cRuFfY1 Agreed

  • The Girl Is Also In Nightmare On Elm Street Remake

  • @Hadetimes Get the fuck out of here you idiot. If it really was a shitty book it wouldn't be praised by both book and movie critics, so highly. Your opinion is equivalent to a talking potato telling us it's opinion of the movie. You suck, fuck you, and go suck a massive dick because your comment was shit.

  • gonna watch this

     leakedmovies . biz

  • I've never read the book or seen any of the films... but I'm going to guess the killer is Christopher Plummer. He's too nice, and we all know that's not suspicious (sarcasm).

  • Watch the movie. It's better than watching all the trash they give us these days. And don't listen to the people who disliked the movie :)

  • in my town the movie isnt out ...

    i love the original one.

    i love david fincher

BUT THIS MOTHERFUCKER MADE A REMAKE!!!??

    why has he done that??

I CANT FUCKIN UNDERSTAND, MAN! fincher made much badass movies... but if this remake suck im going to be so fuckin angry !!

  • @Rayternoss Its not really a remake of the Swedish film. It actually follows the book better

  • Comment removed

  • The movie was a half hour too long

  • i dont know why but.. i fucking hate this guy

  • I've watched the swedish original, and honestly i'm not that crazy about going to see this one due to the fact that i've seen Let The Right One in and it's remake and i was rather dissapointed,so,logically i don't want to get dissapointed with this one too and i don't want the remake "downgrade" the original,so to say.

  • I've seen the original and I LOVED IT! Today, I'm going to see the remake.

  • The girl with the dragon tattoo damaged? You say this before seing part 2 and 3? Dude you haven't seen ANYTHING yet! Guess why part 2 is called The Girl Who Played With Fire..

  • I dont know about this guys judgment on movies. He has made some questionable statements pretty often. For example, the rape scene, he said it put him in a bad mood. Isn't that what the director wanted to happen? The director wanted us to feel uncomfortable, the content and angles made us uncomfortable so we could appreciate the gravity of what was going on. Sometimes you need to feel the situation not only see or read it.

  • That girl was in the Nightmare on Elm Street Remake right?

  • I honestly think I loved this movie way more than I should have... I didn't even flinch at the rape... maybe because I read the book? O.o

  • Noomi Rapace was an amazing actress in the Swedish version. I haven't watched the remake yet, but I'm looking forward to seeing it.

  • @Rhapthorne3 Noomi Rapace is way better as Lisbeth Salander that Rooney Mara, you will be dissapointed

  • I wouldn't give it the "TOUR DE FORCE" rating. I would have given it the "Good Time No Alcohol required Except For That Really Graphic Rape Scene That No One Should Have To See Sober" rating.

  • Rape scene you say? Graphic? off to buy the movie...

  • I usually agree with his reviews, but sometimes I feel like he is too narrow minded.

  • I sat there for 2:30 hours and NOTHING FUCKING HAPPENED. this movie pissed me off

  • He is... definitely right on the money, with everything.

  • just saw it.... he was right about the rape scene..... nightmares

  • Read the book, saw the movie, im hooked forevvvveeeerrrrr

  • It's funny, Rooney Mara was terrible in the Nightmare on Elm Street remake, but good in this. I guess a good actor in a bad movie doesn't work very well.

  • i've heard people call this movie extremely graphic, for some reason i doubt they could get anywhere near as graphic as the scene where salander destroys bjurman in the book (that shouldn't really spoil anything) or when before that happens it goes the other way around. not to be a dick, but without pictures books can be much more graphic than a rated r movie.

  • havn't seen the movie, i'm at page 411 out of 590, and i still cant pin down exactly who done it. so if it's so easy to guess in the movie, that's a pretty big let down. i'm guessing its martin though at this point, with the daughter he hates trying to cover his ass.

  • The Swedish films are amazing and Noomi Rapace blew me away...and I read the books and loved them...BUT the American one, David Fincher's film, had way more detail even when none of the actors are speaking you can see the detail all over their faces (great acting). I like the American one a little bit more than the Swedish one...plus I imagined Lisbeth to be more like Rooney than Noomi's interpretation..tinier, paler, and when she decides to answer back she's very hidden and sarcastic <3

  • watch the original... in fact watch all 3. because they are a lot better. If you haven't read the books watch the movies because they're pretty accurate plus you get more feedback if you watch all of them.

  • All in all. It was a good movie and I enjoyed it. I just hate how they handled where the missing woman was found because she actually ended up on a farm in Australia. She also had a son.

  • I finally saw this movie and I have to say I liked it just as much as the Swedish version. It was just as captivating and interesting. The only real complaint I have is that Lisbeth Salander is supposed to be the most important person in the entire series because she is in the next two movies. They didn't portray her importance as well as they should have.

Plus, this movie is in English. My first language.

The Swedish one sort of jumps around because it is being translated from Swedish.

  • I thought it was awesometacular. At least buy it on blu ray.

  • huh? why...why would underground film hipsters want this movie to be good? i..don't understand...what the fuck is this guy talking about? this is a hollywood movie by a very well known director, how in any way is it underground.

  • Loved it

  • btw, if you haven't yet, you should review game of thrones

  • Haven't seen this one yet, but the original was pretty awesome.

  • I'd like YOUR take on the original vs. this one… I still haven't seen this movie, but I saw the original one and loved THAT one

  • is a Tour de force good?

  • I have seen the original ones with subtitles with noomi rapace. I loved them. i am shunning these until it comes to redbox. then its only a dollar to see the same exact movie.

  • Jeremy that actress also starred in the new Nightmare on Elm st. movie

  • not that the rape scenes didn't make me uncomfortable in the book but one is a "fade to black" type scene but it's pretty clear what happens. For me the "grossest/sickest" part of the book was the incest, especailly since the people committing were completely bat shit crazy. Other than that, i really enjoyed the book. But I'm probably going to wait to see this until the DVD so i have the ability to skip those scenes

  • review The Invisible a movie about a kid who has almost died and is stuck in between SO GOOD
