I like the looks of this game, in the least, I think I would sincerely enjoy a game that came out like this game intended to be. I'm gonna look for it anyway. As to your question though, the best fighter on Sega CD was Eternal Champions which is certainly better than this. There were versions of Samurai Showdown, Fatal Fury Special and Mortal Kombat as well which I did enjoy but the load time is a killer and better versions of those are elsewhere.
I downloaded an emulator and began playing this game after watching some of your earlier videos of this lets play. Terrible game...fighter with programmed responses to whatever button you press. I beat it in about 30 minutes by spamming projectiles and buying puzzle rings until I could kill opponents in like 5 hits.
Could it be that something to do with the emulator is making characters invisible when they should be flickering? Perhaps that "invisibility" purple fireball is inflicting some kind of status that makes the enemy flicker and that battle against Triangle also for some reason started off that way because ??? Fuck it, this game is ineffable.
So basically, by the end of the game, the main character will be carrying around twelve weapons, twenty pieces of armor, and forty-odd accessories. That must be odd to see walking through town.
You know just from watching you play I've figured out how to play this game. If you just came into this game with an open mind and not come in expecting a horrible game, you may have figured it out and enjoyed it more.
As for the invisible, it's to confuse other players, I think. Naturally, this has no effect on the computer.
So i'm curious...they way they expect you to play this game early is either to just constantly die and tank out crap money and EXP to boost your attack or int so you can spam attack your enemy and stunlock them to death to get slightly better money and EXP...wow that's a horrible single player experience. I almost want you to play the multiplayer mode just to see if its actually balanced or if it too is completely freaking broken
@halibabica Well, to be fair he's played the elf and the mage. It's possible that if he were playing, say, the rhino, his starting offensive pow would be high enough that raising it would be preferable.
13:35 - That looks like some nice shadow boxing to me!

@PazurutheBefuddled I feel silly. This is what I get for making comments before the video's finished. <_<

So she has a fireball from her staff, a hadoken fireball,
a sonic-boom fireball, a big fireball and a spirit-bomb fireball...
Talk about diverse movesets for every situation!

I should totally use the name of this game for a guild in an MMO.

Also, it was probably that mystery ring that turned everyone invisible in the elf fight.

Well of course he can jump your fireball. It's your slowest attack and is clearly telegraphed. A human player could jump it too.

I imagine her invisibility attack is for PvP mode so you can like screw over the person you're playing against.
(Of course you are already screwing that person over by making them play this game)

@MrGuyPwnsYou Hmm...and now I wonder whether those characters were specified just to make Brick suffer or not. Who can say for sure???
halibabica 3 weeks ago
@halibabica Given the context, I think there's pretty much zero question that these characters were picked to aggravate him.
