for anyone who's ever hand fed bird's, you know what a joy it is! sigh....makes me wonder what im doing in florida....i miss feeding the chickadees up north...=)
Where I feed them you can literally walk with your hand slightly out and they will just follow you on the trail. Very easy to hand feed them in some spots. A tip is to use sun oil seeds, they seem to love them.
You can't imagine how envious I am to see this :). For how long would you wait until they are encouraged to eat from your hand.. amazing videos.. thanks a lot for posting
Thanks! I was lucky because they came to me without me really coaxing them. Somebody else must have been feeding them by hand and I just happened by. The first time I saw them; they were landing on my hand (or hat) without me even having anything for them to eat. I brought food for them on my second trip there.
Wow you were really quick! I was sorta hoping the blue jay would come in closer, but I think a nearby squirrel was pestering it. I was a bit surprised to see a couple of red breasted nuthatches; that was awesome! This was Presqu'ile Park near Brighton. I call this region of the Park "The sweet spot" because I just stand there and everything just comes to me.

I love the chickadee who got caught up in fussing and fell off instead of getting food.
