  • Filmed with a toaster oven:

  • fj=fucking junk

  • My Dad flipped one of these at a demo day. They had a rough course, and they said the FJ could handle anything. My dad proved that theory wrong hahaha

  • @musclekid13 maybe your dad is one of them schleprock kind of guys that will break whatever they touch.????

  • @WorldExtremeCholo No he just goes to Moab every year, and does rock crawling.

  • @musclekid13 O..... o ok

  • esta pesada la fj

  • what the hell is that , his driving was so nice ! i thinked the car gonna flip over in some moves , anyway nice video

  • Where is my Pinto keys?! My Pinto can do the same thing!! Heck put any car on those ramps and it will do the same!

  • IFS for the win hahahaha

  • What??

  • holly shit i thought that was gona flip over a few times...

  • indepedent suspension is not for offroad use, they reduce debatement capability... jeep understand it and keep the rubicon with solid axle... toyota maybe one day.....

  • Yeah I want to buy a Jeep so I can be like everyone else. That would rock.

  • blabla bla "nick"

  • very nice! make it clearer next time tho. i cant believe these one vehicle owning mofos are still arguing about jeeps and toyotas. both vehicle caters to a specific buyer. jeeps= high school kids working at macdonalds.

    FJC= when you cant afford a 4runner.

  • 4 Runner and Fj and Two TOTALLY Different vehicles. Oh and they are very similar in price..... hmmmmmm

  • its awsome and i ll get my fj in this week :D

  • great 4x4

    fj is a great 4x4

  • well if jeep is so great, then why is it that the majority of the 4x4 across the globe are not jeep? I have a 4x4 durango 5.9 with a 6500 rated tow, its the same as a cheroke and i can tell you that no matter how much you like your inline 6, it will never acomodate a fully equipped 4x4. Put on the wench, bumpers, guards, roof rack, rock slidders, recovery tools, spare parts, and you soon realize why most off road machines including jeeps put a crap vortec in the hood.

  • i think he's talking about the wrangler, which is an excellent stock 4x4 and can easily be modified to be so much better.

  • how about no LOL Rubicon could NOT do that without lifting a tire. Common sense, man.

  • NEW Fj are a weak sister compared to a tj Fj's are beter suited for driving kids to soccer practice they just don't wheel very well.

  • Hmm Sounds like a comment from someone who has never driven an FJ.

  • OIIIIIIIO

  • why is it bouncing like that on those little obstacles? Is my Jeep Wrangler broken? cause it sits level and cruises over stuff like that?

    OIIIIIIIO

  • LOL

  • well set up

  • ووووووووووووووووووووووووووووو

  • The Subaro with its independent front and rear suspension, has even more see-saw ability than the FJ. It handles better on-road aswell.

  • Lol drive and fj, you will see how she handles...You will be surprised

  • then don`t get in one

  • thanks for the advice

  • that's the fucking ugliest thing i've ever seen

  • Subaru are uglier.

  • i'm not going to argue with you on that. subaru's are incredibly ugly...

  • no the fj cruiser is the best car ever

    Saludos!!!

  • TOYOTA GOOD

  • not bad!!! 5 stars

  • thats why you get the fj swap the front ifs with a sfa and bam you got an offroad machine who takes a stock car rock crawling anyways?

  • me! I admit I installed JKS Quicker Discos first. But I did it and the Jeep did just grand! I had some severely scuffed fender flares, but some 3m scrubbing pads and Krylon Fusion made it look new again!

  • Would be barfing with all that movement...ugh.

  • The point i was trying to make, is that a stock loaded 2008 FJ can go anywhere a stock loaded 2008 JK can with, as long as both have good drivers and the right tires. Reliability is more important than capability in off roading, and thats why Toyota is used in other countries. However I am not trying to say Jeeps cant offroad, especially the built up ones. Personally I'd rather have the more reliable vehicle in the middle of nowhere.

  • If you bought the Rubicon edition JK the FJ likely wouldn't be able to get as many places.

But only looking at standard editions, YES, both can get anywhere the other can. Although JK might not be as tipy on this contrived course the FJ would still make it.

Don't mix up reliability that Consumer Reports gives you with durability that gets you home from a weekend of abuse. Jeep has been building durable vehicles for decades and if forced to make a choice I'd count on the JK to get me home.

  • Reliability? What are you talking about? One of my Jeeps is a '97 with 130k and the other is a '00 with 106k. They are absolute babies compared to the other Jeeps in my club. The 4.0 has a reputation for easily attaining the quarter million mile mark. You guys are all drinking the Toyota quality kool-aid. Enjoy it!

  • i have an 85 fj60 with 385k miles with no rebuild, on the 4.2 inline, and my uncle has a 73 fj40 with 422k miles, and neither have been rebuilt. we had a 1990 jeep wranger, we had to place to carb twice, and the head before it even hit 100k miles. we also had a 1965 cj5 with a chevy 350 in it that i miss dearly, but jeeps are good trucks, so are the toyota.s

  • 1992 Cherokee 4.0 with 320k, no rebuild, just normal maintenance, 5.5" lift 34" MT Baja, amongst other things, rolled it in Moab and it still ticks away without hesitation. People fail to remember that the Land Cruise/FJ wouldn't exist had it not been for Jeep, and Toyota wouldn't be where it is today due to that. Likewise goes for Land Rover. They're all good vehicles but don't criticize your roots O_o

  • Dude? Really!? Daimler Chrysler has always been in the shadow of Toyota. If it wasn't for WWII Jeep would be nonexistent. I agree about Land Rover, its an over priced soccer mom mobile just like the H2. The FJ meets every requirement anyone can ask for and doesn't cost 40. And about your cherokee, just remember it only "ticks" through the competition when the Fj roars.

  • I'd like to see any FJ against my XJ so I can point and laugh. You're one of those Toyota Fanboys that cries "Toyota is better than everything" only out of mere opinion. Pull your head out of your rear and read into your history a bit. Chrysler had nothing to do WITH Jeep during WWII, and the I6 4.0 is perhaps the only good thing to ever have the Chrysler badge accredited to it. As I said, the Toyota is a hell of a contender, but bottom line is, FJ wouldn't exist if Willy's didn't. Some brown?

  • Your right the Jeep was the beginning of off road vehicles and a line of tuff ass vehicles to come but you have to face the facts that it is history, there is no way Toyota or any auto maker should give credit to someone else for there own engineering. The only way I can say FJ is better than Jeep is that I have owned both. And you saying that there would not be any off road vehicles if it were not for Jeep is YOUR "opinion."

  • I didn't say that, please show me where at any point that's what I said or even implied. I merely stated that Toyota would have never made the Land Cruiser (original FJ) had it not been for the influence of the Jeep, which is a fact even stated by the people in charge of launching the original FJ. The US had Toyota manufacture Jeeps for the Korean War which eventually was the building block for the original Land Cruiser. So sorry to say, but that's HISTORY'S "opinion." I rest my case.

  • im a lil late in reading this comment but i agree and totally disagree with you. yes its true toyota probably came up with the original fj cos of jeep but then saying that toyota should be thankful to the original jeep is a load of crap!! they proved that those vehicles had good performance and were reliable!!!and im not a toyota fanboy!! i don like them much cos everyone who drives them are morons!!comin from where i live that is!!they just keep tail gating!!!nd i hate that..

  • I never said toyota should be thankful to Jeep, but Toyota built the first Willy's Jeeps for the Korean war, aside from the original "Ford" Jeeps, which spurred their idea as they were contracted out by the US Govt. They shouldn't be thankful but these morons that say Jeeps are crap and the FJ's aren't are talking out of their asses. That's my point. A side note, my girlfriend drives a Land Cruiser and we go trail riding in pairs all the time. So I know it's not a shitbox.

  • why cant jeep and landcruiser people love one another and see the cars for there good points and bad points. because in the end there is no perfection in any vehicle. and dont make outragouse claims that jeeps are reliable because every body else knows they arent. i have a landcruiser and two land rovers and love them both.

  • How do you say "love one another" and then bash Jeeps two seconds later. You're just another moron. Can't you feel the love? 135k on the '97 TJ now and 112k on the '00. Oh yeah, they're both daily drivers that get the crap beat out of them on the weekends in the mud bogs of the pine barrens and the rocks at Rausch Creek. But you're right, if only they were reliable...ignorant fool.

  • jeeps are not as reliable as a land cruiser and its not, and its not as reliable as any toyota vehicle. the landcruise is a daily driver and i am just now replacing the original muffler at 200k miles. all im saying is that jeeps have theyre downfalls too just like every other vehicle, i dont hate jeeps i hate the jeep owners that talk shit about every other offroad vehicle thats not a jeep.

  • stating a fact isn't really really "bashing",ive looked through relibilty reports, and most jeeps have bad relibilty(even the wrangler)

  • Reports don't mean crap. Who's reports? Consumer Reports? I guess all of us who KNOW the 4.0 is a great reliable engine through hundreds of thousands of miles of ownership and not web speculation are secretly dumping thousands of dollars into repairing them and then denying it. Yeah, that scenario is certainly plausible. The only things I've done are changed the oil, spark plugs, cap, rotor, belts, and the starter at 125k ($55). The water pump & alternator will likely need attention soon.

  • true but alot of jeeps arn't that lucky

  • i have an fjc but b/c i live in the states...if i lived in africa i would have a sfa landcruiser b/c they are more durable so jeep enthusiasts comments are right.

however my fj is used for trails alike as my wrangler and if i had to choose to have only one it would be my fj b/c the wrangler to me is a toy for weekends only and i would not have my wife drive that with my kids in it on the street, but for sure the rubicon is more capable and the fj is a good COMPROMISE except in the desert =)

  • well done, it was kind of scary but really nice,

  • you are gana flip over you stupid and then you are gana be cring for the truck

  • Stock Wrangler to Stock FJ, the Wrangler will have the upperhand in the rocks due its solid axles. However, the difference is, the FJ has suspension used in other countries were offroading is not a fun thing to do on the weekend...its life or death in the desert or wherever. Thats why you predominantly see jeeps here and not in the middle east, africa, or Australia.

  • You don't see Jeeps in those parts of the world due to availability, not consumer selection. When there are no tariffs, embargoes, or anything else Jeeps are very popular. Life or death in the desert has no relationship to the suspension configuration, it's all about the suspension implementation. You can have smooth solid suspension and bumpy independent.

The primary advantage of the FJ suspension is it provides a more car like ride which 99% of SUV buyers want.

  • Incorrect you are. You don't see Jeeps abroad because foreigners aren't brainwashed into thinking that they MUST buy American or else. In the middle of the Sahara you need the best vehicle, that's Toyota.

As far as the suspension goes, the IFS/solid rear on the FJ is the best off-road suspension combo for all application save extreme rock crawling, even then it's still capable. The FJ was built to be able to crawl, do expeditions, drive on the street, and race the Baja 1000.

  • Completely wrong. Jeep's popularity is from its merits, not the country that owns it (it was German until months ago).

IFS w/ solid rear is like street racing tires in the front with tractor tires in the rear. You get the worst of both; low static ground clearance in the rear & poor articulation and traction in the front.

If it weren't for full size pick up sales in the US Toyota would be #1. Yet the Jeep Cherokee (Solid F/R) is the choice for stock desert racing (JeepSpeed), not a Toyota.

  • here in venezuela jeep suks and the toyotas are the kings of the road! checkout te "fun race" videos and watch real off road.

  • Are you saying if you bought a Jeep and the FJ in Venezuela would and drove it over the same course it would behave differently than this video demonstrates??

Oh yeah, Jeep is American again and the Venezuelan dictator hates the US if you live there you only get anti-american jealously propaganda.

Something tells me if Jeep and Toyota completely switched the vehicles they were selling the American company would still suk while the non-American company would be king of the road in Venezuela.

  • you are sooo sooo stupid... I hate chavez and y like usa... but toyota its better than jeeps...

  • Regardless of which countries and leaders you like or which brand manufactures a particular vehicle physics don't change. If you have to resort to insults because you have no facts to back up your argument because it is totally incorrect then you shouldn't bother posting. The bottom line is a Jeep Rubicon Wrangler will be able to take you places that Toyota's best offroad vehicles can't get to. It's just a fact, please stop being offended by it.

  • Its a Toyota guys.... there is NO substitute for reliability. Go to the middle of nowhere in Australia or anywhere like what pman9003 was saying and 85% or more will be Toyotas not jeeps.

  • That's how wetbacks test toyotas along the border!!

  • lmao

  • ahhh,stupid toyota,you can do that even with a go-kart

  • its apples to oranges here. the FJ **IS NOT** designed as a rock crawler. its an expidetion style rig. it is capable as a rock crawler but there is FAR more to offroading that rocks.

  • an older toy with the SFA would have done better

  • There is an area I will agree with you on. The older SFA Yotas and 4runners do great. When they went to IFS, they effectivly started producing mall crawlers.

  • LOL i broke my fj first time out, dealer was kind enough to return my wrangler and only keep 5 grand for the trouble. Stay far away from toyota right now.

  • REASONS 4 & 5 WHY THE RUBICON > FJ CRUISER

    4) Ground Clearance

The Rubicon (10.2") has improved clearance over the 4WD FJ (9.6)

    5) Approach / Departure / Breakover Angles

The Rubicon (41/37/22) exceeds the FJ (34/30/unknown) here as well

    6) Turning Radius

The Rubicon's short wheelbase offers a significantly more agile platform (34.9" radius) than the FJ (42" radius) thanks to the FJ's 10" longer wheelbase & 20" longer overall length.

  • oh come on... Jeep makes the best 4x4 hands down. They're made for it. the Rubicon is the All-star of Jeeps. You can't compare the FJ to a Jeep Rubicon.

  • REASON 2 & 3 WHY THE RUBICON > FJ CRUISER

    2) Dual Lockers vs Single Rear Locker

Rubicon has much better traction in situations that call for lockers.

    3) Improved Crawl Rate

Rubicon (4:1) has lower gearing in the TCase than the FJ (2.56:1) as well as in the axles (3.7:1 or 3.9:1 vs 4.11:1)

  • see above comment

  • REASON 1 WHY THE RUBICON > FJ CRUISER

    1) Sollid Front Axle vs IFS

Rubicon has significantly more flex and can be lifted higher for less money if you so desired. I have read that the RTI score of a stock FJ is around 400 and the RTI of a stock Rubicon disco'd is over 800 (double the flex of a FJ).

This is to completely ignore the fact that a SFA is typically much more durable on the trail and significantly easier to field-repair if you do manage to break it.

  • A ramp is one thing, but real world wheeling is the true measure. That, is where it falls short.

  • nice yota but RUBICON would do it.

    "GOLD RUBY"

  • Now lets see it do that with out lifting a tire.

    Rubicon could do it.

  • how about no LOL Rubicon could NOT do that without lifting a tire. Common sense, man.

  • you are without a doubt a completely dumb mother fucker.

  • -not justin, jeepasuarus is the dumb mother fucker.

  • Looks like someone has articulation envy!

  • riiiiiiight. that's exactly it jeep boy.

  • Your just mad that toyota actually built something that can rival a wrangler and has a better build quality.

  • Rival? LMAO

After all the plastic was ripped from the FJ, what would be left at the end of the trail?

  • wow, nice guess . . . lots of people now and days hating on asian car companies that viuld cars just as capable as American cars

  • Surely you're kidding.

    1) By build quality are you referring to the body-cracking issue that is prevalent with any FJ Cruiser that rides on rough terrain? It's a great build when the body won't even stay together :)

    2) The Rubicon would have idled through that set of ramps without a tire ever leaving the ground, let alone teetering on the brink of flopping.

Are you seriously trying to compare the FJ to the Rubicon?

  • The Rubicon would have done the same.... i mean the tires leaving the ground... I did that with similar ramp in 2007 wrangler.

Do you have an idea how many Wrangler posible customers have bought a Toyota?, a very large number.... ... my suggestion is that if you miles are 50%-50% off road/ highway go for the wrangler.... otherwise the FJ is a better decision.... I guess 95% of us never go off road more than once or twice a month.

  • with the swaybar connected, yes the Rubi would lift.. with the swaybar disconnected, I am sorry but you are incorrect. They have a similar track setup out here at the local 4Wheel Parts. Attempting to imply that a IFS vehicle has comparable flex to a SFA vehicle is absurd.

Regarding the which vehicle is best. Certainly the FJ has better road manners but can you drop the top or take the doors off the FJ? In warmer climates the TJ/JK is the easy choice for that reason alone :)

  • the swaybar will help with some inches... not feet.... i would love to see a wrangler video in that ramp...of course a SFA vehicle is better than a IFS.... but that is true 1% of the time when you are climbing rocks..you are right on the top and doors on the FJ... you cannot remove them.. but if you want to do that you buy a TJ/JK ..they are perfect for that.. I beleive the FJ is just a more complete vehicle....but that is just my opinion..

  • 1% of the time when you are climing on rocks? I guess we're catering to the mall-crawler community here on youtube where driving down a well used dirt road is a "off road experience"? :)

  • 1% is too much!...I did not say off roading, I said rock climbing which is te most demanding off road type. If I have driven 5,000 miles in my FJ 1% is 50 miles....50 miles rock climbing is 20 hours... remember you are driving let say 2 or 3 miles an hour

General Off road where you need 4x4 low that I have driven maybe 100 hours... ( in three months )

  • 1% may be too much for you but the fact is that when I take my wrangler offroad it's about 90% rock crawling on class 3 and 4 trails at superlift ORV park because that is the type of off roading that I think is the most challenging. I would love to see a FJ Cruiser trying to run "Can Opener" or "Gregs Rocks". It would never make it. :)

  • A stock FJ or Wrangler cannot do many things... I have a friend that can´t use his 2005 rubicon for difficult rock crawling because he refuses to modify anything, he wants a stock Wrangler and I want the same for my FJ.

  • Actually during R&D testing, stock FJ's (with street tires) were taken on all of the most challenging trails across America and passed with flying colors. A stock FJ can ascent Hell's Gate with ease, and several FJ's kicked ass in the Baja 1000 (including a 2nd place by only 30 seconds). People need to do their homework before they open their mouths and stop being jealous towards the new top-dog of the 4x4 world.

  • im commenting about you saying the fj is better on the road than a jk. i read an artical in four wheel drive magazine that reported that its worse onroad as the fj. and the kia sofia was better than the fj offroad. where are all the kia sofia offroad vids at? hehe. soon there will be plenty of fj ifs parts lining the trails. i bet thats an easy fix. keep the knowledge alive

  • Cool!! I have a yellow one just like it too. And it is a wonderful vehicle. Funny how the jeep and hummer folks always bitch and moan about what a lousy vehicle the FJ is...yet they sit and watch the FJ videos.

  • Its fun to watch the wannabe's

  • man .. i have an FJ .. yellow like this one in the video .. trust me .. it surprizes u .. it exceeds expectations .. its an amazing car

  • is sure is a great CAR. haha. you said it, buddy.

  • damn. didn't know it could do that. Love it.

  • i wouldnt say they got the best flex but damn, you have a hard time getting them stuck i tell ya

  • im osrry but thats exactly what you dont want your vehicle to do under similar conditions, that lack of flex and all that tilting is what causes dangerouse flips and bad injuries. my 97 Tj had so much more flex before the lift.

  • Thats what its all about, Watch this Jeep fans, COMPLETE

    LY STOCK

  • Whatch WHAT? A vehicle with so little flex it nearly flops every time it drives over a 1.5 foot bump? Seriously? lol YEAH THIS TRUCK IS AWESOME! Funny how I never see an FJ on class 3 thru 5 trails at superlift park : 3w's (dot) orvpark (dot) com

  • xellent, if you havent flexed it like that in the hills, there's a great example what FJ can do completely stock,! great vid
