Beautiful playing! I'm looking hard at the EZ ag just now! You said on another post the EZAG has built-in tunings---do they still work when using it as a midi controller? Or do they only work with the built-in sounds?
Very nicely done headbanger1010!! I've had my ez-ag for about a year now but haven't used it with any type of synth system. Was thinking about getting Dimension Pro but I'm new to midi stuff. In addition to the ez-ag and midi/USB interface, what other equipment would I need to get in order to get started? I have a small 70watt practice amp as well. Computer is a new PC 2.5GHz with plenty of RAM and 500G hard drive. Thanks.
One more thing: there is a program called Midi Yoke (search it in Google). It should give you some additional functionality for your midi settings. I have it but don't have the time to try it. Greetings!
There is a way to adjust velocity on Reason NN-XT but it doesn't give very satisfying results. The best soft synth/rompler with regard to EZ-AG is Dimension Pro. I've tried all of them, and that is the best one. Now, what is even better--use the sounds of your midi sound card, this gives you low CPU and if record through there, you will have a midi file that can be played by any soft synth.
@headbanger1010 very nice tune! Have any of you guys ever messed around with the "You Rock Guitar"? I really want to get a Midi guitar but with the new Fender Squier Strat Strat coming out for Rock Band 3 I should probably wait. :-/
Used with the Combinator of Reason 3 (and above), the NNXT in Reason can be a great thing. With the combinator you can choose to redirect the midi signal to any device according to the velocity recieved. So that you could use different samples when velocity is 14 (hammer/pull of) and when its above 15 (normal string strumming).
I did different setups: midi to Roland Juno G, midi to Roland GR-20, and finally midi to computer, where I used Reason, Kontakt, SampleTank, and some other virtual instruments. I figured out how to adjust the velocity in Sonar and it worked well. Greetings.
Wow.. sounds like you have plenty of gear to play with. I have the same problem with synth sounds ringing on forever and end up using ones that have decay built in . I did notice that when playing the internal sounds it was possible to mute by touching the strings but that doesn't work with the synths/pads on the sift synth. I reckon if you could work out if the EZAG is sending a midi exclusive when you mute then you might be able to use it somehow. I'd be interested to know how you get on.
I read somewhere that if you don't turn off the volume (turn off the control) and just turn it down, then it shouldn't ring forever, I don't know if it is true, I have to go home and try it. What do you think?
hey well done.. your right.. !.. doing what you said I could mute strings I was playing by taking my fingers off. Can't seem to get it working for open strings that are played
Prosvetlenie. You're at the same level as me in that arena. I've only been playing with the stock sounds and haven't tried fiddling with velocity. How about the first one to get there posts up here :0)
I got my EZAG last night and I like it a lot! A couple of things to ask: when play continuing sound (synth, pads), how to you mute the note? It seems that it goes on forever. In my experience from last night, the EZAG works the best with pianos, guitars etc., but not that well with synths and pads.
Beautiful piece. I purchased an EZAG yesterday and will need some help setting it up. Do you use any additional hardware in order to get rid of the ghost notes? Did it come with AC cable or you had to purchase it separately? Yamaha says that there are only two AC cables they recommend for this instruments--how do I buy one? Any help will be highly appreciated!!! Thank you.
Hi. The adaptor is called a KPA3, I bought mine on ebay for about £7. By ghost notes I think you mean when you press the key on some sounds you get a faint note (depending on the sound) All I did was to pick sounds that came with the software synth that didn't do that. Alternatively you could alter the synth parameters (where possible) to try and remove the "ghost notes" (sometimes you might want them!). I may be wrong but I think it's probably something to do with "velocity sensitivity".
Thank you for the info! Yes, the "ghost notes" are velocity issue. Your playing is brilliant but can you tell us if you trigger wrong notes just by pushing the buttons next to the actual note you want to play? My purchase should arrive today, very eager to get it, man! I still don't have the AC cable, might run the EZAG on batteries first. Will see.
Hey, i'm thinking of getting one of these and i want to know if you HAVE to strum?
cause i'd like the option just to tap the frets and i'm wondering if you can do that?

How accurate is the unit when triggering other vsts
synths etc..... Would you say it is better than using a Roland GR20?? easier more accurate etc...

you can tune it?

the EZAG has a couple of built in tunings you can use but if you plug into a soft synth you should be able to do any tuning throught the soft synth.

Seems like a cool thing to start out with as a guitar synth.

The only way I know to mute using soft synth is to touch the metal bar in the string area.

I'm using a bog standard midi to usb cable from ebay. PC is pretty standard. Cakewalk Sonar and soft synths like Reason and Hyperion.
