How pitiful do you have to be to take an interest in something so riduculous? The only people that I believe should be outed are those who are closeted and spreading hatred against gays. This man qualifies. If he had grown up in a church that was fully accepting of its gay members, as the ELCA is now, he would never have had to fall into this dishonesty and deception. That said, churches have the rights to set their own doctine as long as it doesn't involve violence. That's why there are so many churches. We all must live according to our consciences. There are churches that are pro-gay clergy & some that are not. We don't all have to believe the same way.

If you re-read the Lavender article (which is full of inaccuracies) he said he was at a preaching mission to Slavokia when he was tempted. The support groups he attends don't attempt to make someone "ungay"; they are support groups to help people refrain from sex if that's what they choose to do. He's not out rallying at gay events; his views are what goes on in a church that says their doctrine is bible-based.

Besides the fact that his church left the ELCA in 2001 (not last year as the article noted) his age is not close to 49. Pastor Brock was practicing what he preaches, seeking support and accountability for his temptations. The magazine acts as if they found him in a gay bar. He's never said that he is excluded from the wrath of God but instead is thankful that Jesus paid the price for his salvation so he doesn't have to rely on himself for that. I saw this video a while ago and I seriously wondered if he were gay. I just wish that he could reread Scripture in the context it was written and that he wouldn't take passages relating to rape and temple prostitution to take it that he could never love as God so clearly intended him to. That is really unhealthy and really un-Lutheran. He also called the ELCA seminaries 'our' seminaries, as if he is still in the ELCA. And he crashed the assembly and made several videos condemning the ELCA. It sounds like there are some issues there too.

I am struck by the cynical and contemptuous manner by which he speaks of gay couples in loving and committed relationships. Yet if that article which outed him is telling the truth, this man clearly craves intimacy with other men. This makes this video both creepy and sad. This guy is pushing 50 -- a half century worth of willful loneliness and emptiness in order to win the approval of a conservative congregation, and probably, subconsciously, his father. Like I said, very, very sad.
