  • donde puedo conseguir ese sonido de piano ????????????

yo tengo un prokey sono 88 es mi controlador y quisiera ese sofware graciasssss

  • now who vst piano you use? thanks n.n

  • which pad did u use? :)

  • @gabrieloliveiramusic -- honestly it's been so long I don't even remember. Sorry

  • @RL82 thanks anyway! beautiful playing! :)

  • @RL82 I read somewhere that galaxy has pads that come with the pianos? Did you use them? Cheers. God bless mate

  • @MrJackanthony -- Yes, I used a custom pad/piano combo in this video, thanks.

  • @RL82 I've just got the Vintage D and it's splendid. Was wondering if you knew how I could use the pad sounds standalone? Without the piano? There isn't a wet dry control or an option I could see. Really is an amazing feature these pads. THey should come out with a vst just for em.

  • hey nice video . great performance .. i will like to know what software do you used record this video, and how do you do it? .. thanks .. Gbu

  • @elvehornacek --- I recorded the video with a standard digital camera. I recorded the audio in Cantabile which is a program to load VST software instruments. I took the mp3 audio file and dubbed it over the original audio from the camera. Thanks

  • @RL82 I just posted a Chopin Etude which shows what Galaxy II can do with recording midi files. Just type in "Larry Ellis plays" and you will come to my latest midi used through Cantabile and the Galaxy sampled Steinway model D.

  • How hard would it be for me to just play my already recorded midi piano classical pieces through Galaxy's pianos. I think of all the piano samplers they have the best overall tone. Thanks.

  • @pianotuner101 That really has more to do with the VST host you're using than Galaxy. It's pretty easy to run your midi files through ANY VST if you use a host called Cantabile.

  • @RL82 Thanks, RL82 for your feedback. I have been using Digital Orchestrator Pro to compose my midi pieces so far. Are you familiar with this software, and if so, would you consider this program a host that could handle the aforementioned tasks? I am interested in hearing pieces where changes of tempo can be read during playback. Thanks again!!!

    Pianotuner 101

  • @pianotuner101 Not really familiar with that program but from what I just read up on it, it seems like an older program and I saw no mention of being able to use it as a host program for VST's.

  • @RL82 Well here it is 5 months later and I finally bought the Galaxy II piano software. Paid $250 for it thinking that I could easily play my midis through cantabile or something. Not working. Maybe I'm doing something wrong. Could you please help guide me through this? I was able in the past to play my midi piano files through Cantabile using the VST "True Pianos". They were .dll files. The galaxy II files are .nkc or .nkx files. Please, help!!!

  • @pianotuner101 -- The Galaxy pianos should have their own Native Instruments player that came with the software. From there you should be able to load the nkx or nkc (proprietary native instrument sound library files). It would kinda be redundant to try and load the Galaxy pianos through cantabile since the Native Instruments player is pretty much a VST host. Of course make sure your midi and audio input/output settings are functioning normally as well.

  • @RL82 OH MY GOD! I finally got the Galaxy Steinway to play my Chopin midis using Cantabile and I have to say these are the best sampled pianos I have ever heard. I'll be posting something online soon. It took a little while to work through the clicks, pops and no sound, but now that's all behind me now. These are absolutely awesome pianos.

    Best,

    Pianotuner101

  • I just tried out Miroslav Philharmonik Steinway

and I must say even if this software is meant for orchestra sampling, the piano sounds amazing. I prefer to ivory actually, might be my speakers though...

  • @CHRISHELMS ...Thank-you for your suggestions! I finally got the VST program called "True Pianos" to work. I have already made some very nice wave files using the host "Cantabile". Now I have to decide which VST to buy. What do you think about Galaxy II or Ivory? Again, thank-you. I only wish I could figure out how to post a video of one of the Mozart piano sonatas.

  • Germany bluthner is one of my favorite!!

  • I mainly use ambient grand with the release samples on. Velocity set to hard 1, and then in the 2nd drop down menu I select mild. That velocity curve works well for my style of playing, but if I change the patch I don't use that setting.

  • Never had those problems... I found the velocity adjustments that can be made in Ivory work quite nicely for me and the Xboard.

  • Ivory steinway is far better.

  • i love Galaxy II pianos :) i prefer them to Ivory. When im playing around with Galaxy II i feel like im sat right at a superb grand piano :) Ivory just seemed like another software instrument =/

  • To each his own

  • gosh. i've been procrastinating for like 2 YEARS now researching and listening to all the best piano software instruments.

I really like the percussive sounds on this piano,

and i was soooo close to buying Ivory, kinda glad i didnt.

right now i've just been surviving off of the PianoTeq demo version

  • This piano isn't that great...I mean yeah, it has its uses if you're producing/recording music for certain styles, but for solo piano playing, Ivory is hands down the best software piano I've ever played. The Galaxy piano doesn't even come close, at all.

  • You appear to be the expert!

I've briefly looked into the high-end Roland pianos before, but I'm put off by their price, weight and superfluous features like drawbar organ emulators etc.

I never actually demoed one though, that'll be my next step.

I like how you just denounce 60% of Ivory's content as actual garbage in one swoop!

Have you ever tried any SampleTekk pianos?

  • Never tried Sample Tekk... but regarding Ivory, the Steinway samples were the ones they spent the most money and time working on, the bosie and yamaha were added just to make you feel like you weren't only getting one piano for $350, but seriously, everyone knows those two were phoned in and it shows.

  • I see you own the micro ensemble too!

  • Yeah the pianos are so-so, but it got me through a dry spell after I sold my Motif ES rack (should have kept it). I have Miroslav Philharmonik as well, good VST... some nice sounds hidden in there, some odd terribly ones too, but the piano in there is flat and useless for my tastes.

  • Yes, I thought miroslav was merely 'better than the garageband piano' although by no means good, and that was a while ago though!!

I've never owned or even used any of the multi-gigabyte super-piano vsts like Ivory or Quantum Leap Pianos etc.

My ideal performance piano doesn't need to sound good in a mix, it needs to sound brilliant at all dynamics, in isolation! You really think audiences can't tell the difference? It feels weird not trying to aspire to the best piano sound available. thanks

  • You have to try Ivory then (only the Steinway samples though, the Bosendorfer and Yamaha are garbage)... and yeah, the average concert audience member doesn't care enough about the actually instrument you're using as long as it sounds good enough, and most modern stage pianos sound more than good enough. But by all means, if playing the best software instrument on stage is worth it to you, that's all that matters. Like I said before, for recording that's when it matters. Live, not so much.

  • Thanks for the advice - that's something I've heard hinted at before.

I have previously performed using the Steinway from IK Multimedia's Miroslav Philharmonik (on a macbook), which for a while I thought was brilliant but now find limited.

I currently own a Nord Electro 3, which has some acceptable XL acoustic pianos. I owned a Kurzweil MicroEnsemble for a while, but I didn't think the piano sounded strong enough compared to the Nord.

It's going to have to be software for acoustic pianos now!

  • It's impossible to identify a good sampled piano without playing it yourself - but..

excellent playing (even on that unweighted Emu)

some nice pad sounds going on there too!

  • Thanks a lot. You're absolutely right about having to play them yourself... which is why I wish every software instrument had some type of playable demo like pianoteq. I loved the way this sounded in the demo files, but with no playable demo it was risky. I bought it, played it and truth be told I don't really like it that much. It's tweakable to the nth degree but Ivory is still my go-to software piano.

  • Very interesting - so you think Ivory is still better than Galaxy 2? I suppose they both have aspects.

I just wish there was a hardware solution that didn't require me to take a laptop onto stage (i'm including the Receptor in with that, even though I don't have one myself!)

  • Don't know where my response went, but yeah I prefer Ivory to Galaxy in terms of solo piano playability--there's just a lot more depth there that I could never get with the Galaxy II (keep in mind I have the Galaxy Bluthner and NOT the Steinway).

For piano based stage needs, a ultra high quality VST like Ivory is kind of useless since the audience won't be able to discern the difference between it and a good stage piano, so I'd choose a good playable keyboard like an RD700sx.

  • wooow man did it get cold in here lol that was good

  • excellent playing :)

  • thanks jazzdude

  • Very nice.

  • Very short, but wonderful..!!!!

  • Great sound and great playing!

  • Thanks!

  • you made the right choice
